Such a little gem in an old town. Beautiful rooms, the history of the building is cool. Man at the bar gave us a little background on the history! Wine bar / cocktail bar downstairs and a restaurant on the main level. Not much to do in the town but that’s somewhat the point! Would love to come back here and learn even more about the history. Truly beautiful rooms!

Cannot speak highly enough of the Hotel and its staff. My wife and I ended up stranded in Kataning after a series of EV charger failures in previous towns. Needing to stay the night, simply to charge we were discussing options when we were approached by Holly in the reception who asked if we needed any help. Despite it being just as she was due to finish for the day she helped direct us to a location we could charge and personally checked us in and showed us to our room, suffice to say she was lovely and turned our day around. The rooms was gorgeous and the restoration has been lovingly executed with amazing attention to detail. We had a great Tapas meal in the wine bar basement, which has a great cosy speak-easy type vibe and a wonderful breakfast at the ground floor dome. Very glad we stayed and very grateful to Holly for all her help!

Great find on our way back north. Beautiful hotel in restored mill building. Our room was lovely with all mod cons and tastefully done. Easy parking across road and food options were easy as a Dome Cafe downstairs. Enjoyed the drink in the bar which has a great atmosphere. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

Only stopped in for a look and a meal at the Cordial Bar. Amazing place and the Bar Manager Brandon was exceptionally helpful. Although he was on his own he took the time to accommodate everyone’s needs and gave us an interesting insight into the place,

Lovely boutique Hotel in centre of Katanning.
Well-appointed rooms build within the old flour mill, which gives them a lovely rustic feel.
In terms of dinning options you have the Dome cafe during the day, which coverts to a full restraunt menu in the evenings. In the basement there is the Cordial bar which has a tappas share plate menu, great range of local wines, craft beers on tap and also packaged range from local WA brewers which will please the most discerning beer conisours. Also have a range of local distillers, Gin and Whiskey with great cocktail list.
Overall great experience if your travelling south and want something a little different.

Indeed the most premier hotel in this part of rural Western Australia! Good base to use a jump off point to explore the Great Southern region. The rooms are clean, modern and contemporary that reflect the unique history of the building as well as the whole town of Katanning.

Absolutely lovely hotel. Room was exquisite. Enjoyed the tapas bar. Very convenient Dome Cafe downstairs for brekkie. Everything flowed, would definitely come back if we’re in Katanning again.

We spent a night here on our way to Albany and we were very glad to stumbled across this place it is divine!!!

We were greeted by Laura who was so lovely and excited to tell us the history of the hotel which we enjoyed! She showed us around and made us feel very welcome.

We were a little disappointed when we arrived and found our room 101 was right next to the lift 😆 but we were too tired to hear much at all and the hotel is boutique so not many rooms/guests.

The room itself was great, bathroom and bedroom well sized for a night and the shower is so luxurious! If you are heading to Albany spend the night here for sure!

What a stunning renovation of the old mill building.
Rooms are so well appointed.
The Cordial bar has well priced food and drinks too.
The staff are so welcoming and enthusiastic about the history and the refurbishment even giving you a tour of the building on check in.

First time staying in this fabulous hotel, every spots can take a picture, even in your room, place have been designed, full of history and unique, feeling very comfortable and quiet, also they’re providing a corner for you to make a coffee/tea, couple of books to read, and some extra towels. If we pass though katanning again, we definitely will spend a night here!!! One thing is not perfect that they don’t have bathtub.

I thoroughly enjoyed the style. I saw the hotel on social media and had to see it for myself. We drove all the way from Perth just to stay here for two nights. The Cordial Bar was my favourite part. All the drinks were sourced from WA or made in-house. The staff were just wonderful and very friendly (even the mummified cat). I like how every detail was well thought out and designed with consideration for peoples comfort and needs but without sacrificing style.

The only negatives were that the bar had run out of majority of the menu items over the long weekend. By Monday they let us order from the Dome menu to compensate. Also, the free book in the room is out of date. We did one of the self guided wine tours in Porongurup and more than half of the wineries were permanently closed. Pity the book couldn’t suggest anything local in town. It would be interesting if they did a walking tour of Katanning, especially for all the public art and history.

Single night was not enough! Warm greeting and shown to room on top floor- where else do you get that service? The lift was a treat and the fire at reception was a delight. Food service at Dome up to standard but Cordial Bar could be more slick, but aware staff were new. Easily a return visit to be planned.

I cannot speak highly enough of the place. It is a fantastic hotel with a blend of style and luxurious design to detail. We were greeted by a warm welcome from the staff and the atmosphere. The room is spacious, and my toddler totally enjoyed the extra space to run around. Outstanding!!! Thank you very much.

Room service - Excellent.
Presentation of the room - unique with the setting, lovely facilities, 5 star.
The whole hotel was warm considering it was very cold outside.
Loved the tapas bar in a very interesting basement interior. Great wine list and small plates tapas. The hotel features parts of the mill through the whole hotel which is a great feature.
We had drink and tapas plate in the basement then up to the Dome for a main meal (which was great) then back down for a nightcap.

It’s a great and unique stop off on your way to Albany.

What an amazing hotel! This is how a historic building conversion should be done, and full credit to Dome for taking such a leap of faith in a wheatbelt town. It makes us want to come back to Katanning.
We'd booked the Packing Room overlooking the rail line: it was large and airy, the king size bed was so comfy, the bathroom stylishly modern with double shower heads, and while the room had all the mod cons still fully respected the history of the old mill. It was cold outside but we were warm and comfortable in the room.
There's no mini bar but a well-stocked valet room on the same floor, including a small library of hard cover classics!
There is a sense of freedom to move around the entire facility, from the lounge area outside our room, to a downstairs lounge, the Dome cafe for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the super-cool Cordial Bar at basement level for drinks and tapas. You don't even have to leave the building to access the bar and Dome, which was a bonus considering the weather turned from sunny to rainy, windy and very cold overnight.
The service - from check-in to the Cordial Bar to the Dome - was outstanding. The standard of food in the bar and Dome was excellent. We weren't sure what to expect, but were very pleasantly surprised.

After camping out at Cape Arid this place was a different type of heaven. Beautifully bathrooms. Loved the Aesops products. The hotel design etc. Got up and made a coffee in the pantry, equipped with good coffee making equipment and read about the history of the Mill. Will definitely come back. Has put an extra shine on Katanning as a stop off on the was to Perth. I felt really looked after in a beautifully and sensitively adapted historical building. Excellent!

This place is a rare find. Only came across it by accident.

The building is really nicely restored. Like... superb. The integration with the old mill elements is minimal and beautiful. We stayed in the Purifying Room. It’s comfortable, quiet, and spacious. The staff are really friendly.

Couple of things we didn’t expect: there are no meals with the room cost (no breakfast) and the half of the bottom entry level is a dome cafe. But the Dome Cafe is probably the coolest Dome in Australia. And there is a tapas bar at the back of Dome.

Will definitely be back.

Rooms and décor are fabulous, a great mix of modern technology and the old.
Certainly not your typical hotel type accommodation. Our Silo room was large and very comfortable.
The café and bar again beautifully styled and laid out with clever use of the old machinery from the original mill.
All staff are fabulous, make you extremely welcome and nothing is too much trouble.

We will certainly be staying there again.

UNIQUELY AMAZING. Well and truly exceeded our expectations.
This is a divine place to meet up and stay with friends as we did.
Dome Cafe have created outstanding accomodation full of history, from the cafe to the rooms through to the underground Cordial Bar where we met 2 amazing staff members john and Wendy. Even the reception enterance had a unique fire place to sit and enjoy a drink with the best of friends. This charming hotel would be a great place to bring someone as a surprise 😁/present 🎁/getaway 🤎 or meet up with friends and enjoy a night out.
