The Big Axe

Big thing that did not disappoint. It was big and it was an axe.

There is a lovely gift shop nearby, operated by volunteers from Rotary. Camping and a pub nearby offer rest and meal opportunities. Overall, this is an excellent attraction.

Good rest stop, run by volunteers. Well maintained, clean toilets. Coffee and biscuits available for just a gold coin donation at the gift shop. There’s a small park nearby as well with tables and benches.

Super friendly staff, hitched up for the night (free camp) toilets and amenities all pristine. Donation to be paid in information centre, staff happy to help and give out all information about surrounding areas to visit and where to eat.

Great attraction which is located next to the visitor center and a great park for kids.

Lovely staff at the visitor centre here and plenty of parking with amenities and very helpful, they have great local arts and honeys inside to buy and its all really nice, the axe is really cool and a great landmark.

This is a cute little rest stop run by lovely volunteers. I highly recommend having a browse through all their handmade bits and pieces.
Has a lovely wall dedicated to the aviation pioneer - Nancy Bird.

A perfect respite from driving. Clean and easy access dump point. A lovely stocked general store cafe, well priced pub for lunch or dinner and a super fun playground with flying fox.no kids in this motorhome but I enjoyed it :)
So stay at the big axe and get a nights memory of Kew.

It was an accidental find! We were driving towards Coffs Harbour and I wanted a Driver Reviver Break. We pulled up in Kew Information Centre and had a lovely chat with the people inside the information Centre and they told us that the Big Axe was just outside the building!

Amazing pit stop for kids. Highly recommend!

Great spot for a stopover, close to highway, good tucker and coffee.

Great place for overnight. It looks like in the forest. Visited information center, the staffs were very friendly and helpful. Lots of hand craft gifts there too from local people. 3kms to Woolworths. 10kms to beach.
Please leave donations to keep this place open. Well done~Kew, NSW council. Thanks a lot.

Such a great little free camp. 3 spots only but perfect for an overnighter with public toilets which are well maintained. Please utilise donation box to ensure these places stay open. Spots sealed and lined. Shops and service stn nearby

If you are traveling, stop in here especially to the little gift store and driver reviver. Most beautiful helpful friendly lady will serve you driver reviver coffee. She was lovely. Made a nice break. Lovely quaint gift store next door with so many great things to see and buy. I never knew this place existed, but well worth turning off highway for. Lovely clean toilets. A beautiful place 💞

We ended up at The Big Axe by ‘axe-ident’. Superb stop in Kew with good toilet facilities and info centre. The Big Axe didn’t disappoint, one of Australia’s greatest ‘Big Things.
