This store is amazing! 🤩 The staff were incredibly helpful, and I'll definitely return for more purchases. It's very affordable, especially with patterns priced at 50c, which is perfect for beginners. Plus, knowing they support employing people with disabilities makes me want to keep supporting them!

A must visit place for all sewing lovers. Found a lot of nice fabrics with great price here for my beginner’s projects, and many selections of vintage patterns which I adore a lot. All staffs are very friendly and Jane is especially helpful, she showed me how to select fabrics and which fabric is suitable for which pattern — great help and tips for a beginner like me! Finished my first ever garment with the fabric and pattern found here. Love that it’s such a passionate and supportive community and I’ll definitely come back for more.

Amazing charity store for fabric and craft supplies, with really good prices. This one seems quite a bit bigger than the West Ryde Sewing Basket store, so it's worth the trip. I can easily spend an hour or more, here, get two shopping bags full of stuff, and spend 80% less than what I would at Spotlight.

Good selection of fabrics, also a good place to stock up on essentials like threads, needles, elastic, fastenings, bias tape. Not just sewing and dressmaking supplies either - quite a lot of beads, rubber stamps, yarn, craft storage containers too.

I have been to this shops many times. For a seamstress, on a limited budget, sewing for grandchildren and for charity, this shop is like a candy store for a kid. I have introduced friends and even my grand daughter to this wonderful shop. The staff members are so very helpful and knowledgeable about fabric. I wish you all the very best to continue doing this good work🙏👏👍

A friend and I shop monthly at The Sewing Basket at Newington. We make items for various animal rescues and are always on the lookout for value for money fabric, yarn, haberdashery and other items. We also donate any items of fabric and other saleable items that we can’t use. It is always a positive experience at Newington The staff have always been helpful, courteous and friendly.

Brilliant - on all levels, this store is amazing! It's an avenue for the disadvantaged &/or disabled to work & to feel the appreciation & respect they so richly deserve! I visit the Newington store frequently (as a treat to myself) as stock is being added on a regular basis. There are gorgeous fabrics, laces, loads of patterns (sewing, cross stitch, doll, bear etc), wools & knitting needles, sewing machines (sometimes), craft containers, embroidery cottons - even Tatting Shuttles! Oh, the list just goes on & on! The staff members are total sweethearts & don't mind being asked any kind of advice; with a response of: "No question is a silly question!" Love them/love the store/love the concept!

The Sewing Basket at Newington is the first place I choose to shop when I need fabric and other items related to sewing, knitting and embroidery. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I always find something to buy and am very happy that my purchases help a very worthwhile organisation.

Brilliant! The very best place for sewers; fabrics, haberdashery, craft supples, patterns; even reconditioned sewing machines and (occasionally) overlockers. The low prices are unreal, and everything has been donated. An added bonus is that I can donate all my unused sewing needs back. I never need to go anywhere else.
And I love the fact that these shops support such a worthy cause.

I often drop in to the Newington store (I also visit Balmain and Kincumber stores).
I, and my sewing friends are always greeted by very friendly volunteer staff who couldn't be more helpful.
The store is always well stocked with fabrics, notions, wool etc and there is never a time, where I walk out with nothing. I can always find a few fat quarters, fabric by the metre and have a few laughs with the wonderful staff. (I even find myself singing along to the radio in the background which makes shopping fun).
From time to time I drop in bags of fabrics etc as a donation too which makes me feel as I am contributing too.

I love this store, full of wonderful delights for all sewing enthusiasts plus I am helping others in such a needed charity. The staff are friendly and thoughtful and I always look forward to my visits. Just wish there was a store closer to me in the mountains. Thank you Newington for all that you do.

Great organisation, amazing place to visit and browse in. They generally have everything from a needle to an anchor! Heart warming to see things that would have been discarded many of which are no longer made, have been given another life through The Sewing Basket and Achieve. 🍀

Such a special place. I like taking on the unfinished projects and completing.
I have taken several older people (I am a community care giver) there and once they have seen it they are enthusiastic about going through their old sewing treasures and donating. One beautiful lady said "it is great and to see people that have an interest like I used to have. My family would just through it all out when I die"
The trip empower her to take control of what happened to special items that ment so much to her.

An absolute Aladdin’s cave of sewing treasures! What a brilliant concept- a place where I can donate unused supplies but also donate money through buying bits and pieces for my hobby. Keep up the great work!

The Sewing Basket is a crafter's treasure trove of delights. From the moment I walk into their store (Newington or Balmsin) my creative juices start flowing. I love to find fabric, thread, yarn or tools, of such great quality, that I can use in making garments and other useful items for myself and others. Always great value for money: a lower price that other craft stores for superior quality. Sewing Basket shopping keeps on giving: supporting Acheive support services and keeping preloved textile supplies from going to landfill! My favourite way to shop.
