Rockdale Library

One of the best spots in this library. It offers a wonderful space to dive into a book and soak in the view from the full-size windows on both sides. The natural light streaming in adds to the ambiance, creating a serene reading environment. ☀

Moreover, the futuristic rocking chairs around the area are incredibly comfortable. They provide the perfect seating to relax and enjoy a good book for hours on end. The combination of a cozy reading nook and the beautiful surrounding views makes it a spot worth visiting time and time again.

I love this library.

A particular shout out to a few features:

The tasteful design of the stairs, light features, and furniture. The curves are lovely and integrate the design of the whole building together.

They have great workshops of all kinds!

The librarians are approachable, knowledgeable, and speak a variety of languages.

They have a lot of community language books and resources, including some for kids and babies. There's no time like the present to start your community language literacy experiences at home with the little ones😊 The German and Spanish sections have some fun board books.

They also have awesome, engaging baby and kid classes. Rhyme Time here is quite good, though busy. You can also borrow the Rhyme Time book here if you're a keener.

When will we have Rhyme Time in community languages?!🤩

For any community language sceptics: With community language support systems, it's quite important to provide resources and supports from end to end (i.e., for young children, or whenever people might be beginning their community language journey, on to proficient adults). Some libraries or resource centres only provide books for adults and perhaps only a narrow range. This proposes community languages as a dying fad as they are not offered to younger readers. This community and indeed Australia has a unique rich abundance of community language diversity, but if we don't provide the support for people to maintain this linguistic wealth right from beginner learner right into proficient language user, generator, and appreciator, that abundance will dry up and blow away on the wind. That would be sad. It's thanks to libraries like Rockdale library that this isn't happening as fast as it could be. If Rockdale library starts providing more workshops and in person supports in community languages, this will also help to stem the tide and fortify and revitalise the language communities of Bayside for generations to come.

Love the place! I go there regularly, and the staff are amazing, very responsive, and helpful. The only downside is when the individuals are ignoring others’ privacy and talking loudly on the phone or with others. Please respect the place and the people who are merely there to study.

We are lucky to have a facility like this in the area. Well stocked, plenty of clean fresh space to study. Can spend a productive day here. My only bugbear is that not all the 16-20yr olds in there are quite as focussed on studying as they might be (but frankly at their age I would have been worse I think!)

Rockdale Library was my 2nd time coming here because the novel books were very interesting to read about the graphic design for the Marvel characters. The library has stairs for people to study or read books. I definitely would recommend going there again.

A good afternoon in peace. Free internet. Can download Netflix with ease. Use computer, get silence, borrow books, good selection of books, friendly staff and services. It's great to see same faces there from all ages, plus activities for young kids, adolescents, and adults depending on what all are interested in. 😊👍

Love this new atmosphere as it very neat and tidy, particularly if you have young kids like mine one😄, also amenities such as Free Wi-Fi, I have done 78 photocopies @0.20 each page, less than $20 worth it😍😉.

The place is the same and I'm glad it hasn't changed ever since we had a nice time that I read a novel manga called Fire Force which you know me :) anyway it has nice two level floors at least from what I know so again nice place to read.

The design of this library is exceptional. The study rooms have TVs and white boards, the staff even give you white board markers. The free wifi is great. I really like wandering between the floors and finding something new. The staff are super friendly and helpful, I haven't had any of these issues about noisy kids that other people are talking about.

Rockdale Library offers a very bright and beautiful design with quiet private study rooms you can have individually or with your study group. The staff are very sweet, friendly and always happy to help. They even offered refreshments to people all around the library which was the cherry on top that made me want to write this review. Thanks Rockdale Library! Your efforts are always greatly appreciated :)

I don't know what people are fussing about with the noise level. I went there everyday for a week after 2pm and it was super quiet. Occasionally there were kids playing but I didn't find them distracting or bothersome even though I sat on the ground level they played on. They have a great comic book collection, including The Sandman Series! (My fave) All the staff are helpful and nice. Super nice, comfy, stylish, firm seats everywhere and fast Wifi! If you're a solo traveler, work remotely and/or blogger, an awesome place to get work done quickly.

Peaceful and a great place for families. Highly recommend it here.

Plenty of reading books for young children. Also recommend their children's programs, particular the school holiday activities.

Great space which has been a long time in the making. And judging by the number of daily users, greatly appreciated by the community. Kudos to the designers - the availability of free Wifi AND USB charging stations is GREAT! And to those nay-sayers about the infants on the ground floor - stick your headphones in your ears.

The best library I have ever been to in my entire life. Staff are friendly, 4 hours free access to computers each day which is so convenience for me, modern and quite spacious, what can I ask for? Thank you!

Spacious with a lot of sitting available. The book collection is great! Discovered Borrow Box (a third party online ebook portal) with additional resources. Great facility!

This place is.... A WONDERLAND.
Artistic, sensuous, and delicately realised, architecturally it's a conscious tangible expression of public interest.
So rarely do I ever come a cross such a beautiful manipulation of space, with its twists and turns- linguistic treasures hidden around not one corner, not two, but EVERY CORNER.... so many beatiful crevices!
Vast reserves of knowledge available for the public good, and the staff?
The staff bring me to my knees. Every time- EVERY time, the staff are relentlessly helpful, so helpful in fact, that one time I rediscover the book that rewrote my rurbrick!
Whilst the librarians' train of thought occasionally flirted with lucidity, it was clear to me within moments of my first visit that the staff, nay the high priestesses of this sacred place, were operating/vibrating on a plane far removed from mine. Far removed, much to my profound regret. Their wits were quick, their faculties sharp, yet they were clearly responding to questions posed across oceans of time and eons of distance removed from my simple request for a book on the principles of elementary hydrology. Sure, I neither found book nor answers to my simple, straightforward questions, yet I walked away more contented, chakras more aligned, spiritually grounded than I had in at least three lifetimes.

Absolutely a wonderful and creative space. Has a great feel to it and I think it is a fabulous space for the community - all surrounded by books! The gardens, building everything. What more could you want.
