absolutely adore this place! Tucked away in the corner, and a tad small inside so that makes it hard sometimes to get a spot but the food and lovely customer service makes up for it completely. The food choices are great, definitely something for everyone even if you aren’t super big on Japanese-Asian food! lots of side options too. Id definitely recommend to everyone:)

Japanese cuisines specialized with noodles, bento and donburi.
There's a half/half optional half noodle with half rice bowl. Looks good, so we could try some dishes at the same time and the price is started from $19. The bento box started from $25.
The dining place is limited, not suited for big groups.
Overall, the taste is good enough, and the price is reasonable.
I just found an uncooked chicken in karage but it's not a big deal.

Cute little corner Japanese place with lovely food served fresh. They also served a small bowl of miso soup for each person which was lovely.

Prices are great, the food was filling and the service was good. Great if you're after a quick lunch.

There is very limited seating inside and outside as the place is small, and there may be a wait depending on how busy it is. They do offer takeaway as well and discount for paying with cash. Would visit again. :)

The food and drinks are consistently top notch. Very reasonable pricing for great quality food & drinks. The staff are always so friendly and efficient as well. I always leave very happy and satisfied both with the food and the dining experience. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

If you are a student, or tourist on budget, this is a Japanese eatery run by a Japanese. Love the Unagi egg don ordered.

Value for money with great service. Recommended!

Amazing!!! One of my favourite places now! I could eat everyday there. The food is amazing. Vegetarian options available. The customer service is nice. You order by a tablet. The atmosphere is good, relax, perfect for lunch or dinner, with friends, couple or colleges. They have two places, one is in the corner for more take away and the menu is a little different, I didn’t like too much these, the place is small but the restaurant is just ON THE SIDE, FIRST FLOOR, and it is the Real One! The best!

I like very much the food, it is very tasty.
The staff is friendly too.
A nice place to go alone, like me, or with friends :) specialy with friend.

Just need a better flow of narural air inside ,because people like me enjoys more that fresh air than close areas.

UPDATE 4/2/23 Can't resist going again :). The food is very good, the draft beer was super cold (perfect). staff again very nice.

The downstairs Kura restaurant is a hidden gem! Very great value and delicious meals. We normally get the half an half and I always get really full from it. Great way to experience variety.

Really enjoy the unagi don and any of the udons. The udon has a really light savoury flavour, quite refreshing and not overly salty.

Dined here tonight after not being able to get a spot downstairs due to the size of our group. Went upstairs and was greeted to our table and given an iPad. To our surprise, what a selection!!!
Fresh sashimi, udon, unagi, sushi, it was endless choices. We ordered about 6-7 dishes and they were all fantastic. Food came out fast and it was value for money!! What a find will go back when we’re in the city next.
The Oroto tuna was the stand out dish! MUST TRY!

My Wife and I had a wonderful dinning experience at this establishment. We have both been to Japan and the food took us right back there. If you want an authentic, flavorful and diverse dinning experience we both recommend Kura Kura highly.

Finally, my wife left her sunglasses after we had lunch. The staff at Kura Kura were kind enough to mail them back to us as we don't live in Sydney. Outstanding customer service.

We will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

My favorite karaage since 19 years ago..reminiscing my college days..yes the place is so tiny and hard to get a seat, so takeaway is the best option.

Great, fresh food. Lovely staff. Very clean.
Can be expensive if you get carried away, which is easy as the food looks and tastes so delicious.
I love half and half Kikuni don !!!!!!!

Cosy Japanese restaurant located in Chinatown, nice ambience, great customer service, friendly staff and some food was as good as if not better than what we had in Japan, would recommend the takoyaki and chicken cutlet ramen in particular
We had dinner here twice in two days

The pork ramen was super tasty! Loved the broth, really good stuff. I like the ordering system, too, very easy to see what’s in each dish. I don’t have a photo because once I tasted it, I didn’t want to stop eating, so it’s all gone now. The chairs are comfy and the prices are really reasonable, for a party of six we paid $155 (including some drinks).

Nice little restaurant that’s tucked away near Paddy’s market. It was pretty busy when we arrived, but the food came relatively quickly. The staff were friendly and all the food was fresh and tasted good. We got the:
- fried vegetables (pretty good)
- prawn gyoza (great texture and taste)
- salmon aburi (one of my favourites)
- scallop aburi (amazing!!)
- scallops (pretty nice too)

Would highly recommend, particularly for the aburi!

Good quality and we'll priced Japanese food, with the option to have mixed lunchboxes that allow you to try several dishes.

None of it was mind blowing, but instead, consistently good. There was an error with our tablet and half of our order didn't go through and they picked it up quite quickly, and the food made it from the order to the table quite quickly. No vibe was ok as well, your typical small restaurant in a second floor, like many in the CBD.

A surprisingly great Japanese restaurant. While the venue itself could barely sit around 20 people at a time, once you get your food, all would be worth it. The Karage chicken was both crispy and tender. The ramen stock was great tasting without being overwhelming. It is also reasonably priced. Would recommend if your expectations aren't through the roof.

Kura Kura is a cute Japanese restaurant tucked away in Haymarket. Technically one location, split into two parts. Upstairs has a dining room, whereas the street level part is a smaller, authentic looking dining room and takeaway kitchen that you would typically see in Japan. Because of this, I chose the downstairs area to dine in.
It appears that solo diners are seated at the bar area, whereas couples/small groups are at the tables and I understand that the menus do differ between the upstairs and downstairs locations.
For the downstairs dining room area, you select what you want to order and order and pay at the front.
The menu has a good variety of food choices and the prices are very reasonable for what you get.
The food received was of excellent quality, prepared fast and tasted delicious.
Overall I really enjoyed dining here and will make this my regular when I am after a quality Japanese meal.
