Humble restaurant with Kitsch decoration. There is only indoor seating in a medium size room that I found to be pleasant and quite.
Homemade food that brings and interesting fusion between Turkish and Chinese cuisine.

The Uyghur traditional baked buns were delicious and full of flavour. I did not feel them heavy despite of their big size and the beef filling.
I recommend the Uyghur style stir-fried homemade noodles with lamb and vegetables. The size of the dish was big and the taste of all the ingredients was superb.
I will definitely come back!

I've been coming to Kiroran for years. Every time I come to Sydney, I make it a point to come at least once every trip. And if I'm honest, more.

This last trip, I was here for just 3 days and I had dinner there twice.

If you don't know what to order, here's what I normally order.

TLDR Version

1) Meat Pie
2) Oven Baked Dumplings (Samsa)
3) Stir Fried Flat Noodles
4) Lamb and Potatoes
5) Lamb Skewers
6) Lamb Rib Skewers
7) Cucumber Salad

Comprehensive Review.

I have to start with the Lamb and Potatoes because it was the dark horse of the whole menu.

This trip was the first time we ordered it and it was simply outstanding. The potatoes were seasoned nicely, seared perfectly on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The lamb was full of flavour. My only regret is I didn't try this sooner.

The meat pie 🥧, what can I say. I'm a sucker for pies, especially savoury ones. The crust was crispy and the filling juicy. As for the Samsa, for me, I feel the filling was just as juicy as the meat pie, but the pastry/skin was more delicate yet cooked to perfection finished in delightful brown.

As for the stir fried flat noodles, flat noodles is my preferred style of noodle, but if you prefer, you can always get the hand pulled noodles. The dish is laden with vegetables, I got the lamb version but if you don't like lamb(poor you) you can always get the chicken version.

On to the skewers. I absolutely love Uyghur grilled meat seasoning. What's the difference between the lamb skewers and the lamb rib skewers you might ask...

Lamb Skewers comprise of lamb cubes.
Lamb Rob Skewers have about 5 Lamb Ribs on each skewer. If I had to choose, my preference would be the Lamb Rib Skewers. I mean, meat on the bone is just more flavourful. It's also got a nice layer of fat on top and we all know, Fat is Flavour.

Honourable Mention goes to the Da Pan Ji. It's a staple in Uyghur restaurants, but everything else shines through so much that we had to leave it off our order.

We didn't have desserts there, mainly because we had so much to eat, we didn't have space for dessert. Instead, what we did was take a walk to a nearby Thai Restaurant, Ed Ae Thai Restaurant, where we had Thai Tea Bingsu Saimai.

If you found this review helpful, share it with your friends, and check out my review for Ed Ae Thai Restaurant.

First time ever trying Uyghur cuisine and we were delighted, the Samsa was our favourite. Delicious food, friendly, attentive, efficient service. Can’t wait to come back!

Amazing Uyghur restaurant hidden away in the heart of Chinatown! Very unique and authentic food options, the seasoning is perfect too.

We ordered a few dishes, but standouts definitely the stir fried potato and lamb and the chicken skewers.

Service was great too and not pushy at all as we took our time to eat and drink. Was able to get a table even though we messed up our booking.

Would definitely like to go back and try other items on the menu.

The best Uighur restaurant in Sydney outside of Xinjiang. The skewers, big plate chicken, chopped noodles and salads all perfectly served. All mates who I've taken here are gobsmacked they've never known the cuisine existed. 😋

My first Uyghur cuisine experience and it was thoroughly enjoyable. The lady who served us (presumably an owner) was very friendly and helpful and all the dishes we ordered were tasty. The lamb skewers and eggplant dish in particular are highly recommended.

Ok I do admit I don’t know anything about Uyghur food. But hear me out. I was taken there by an Uzbek. This is his food. And it’s freaking tasty. This is a big hint. At the back of the menu there are photos. Use this. It’s handy. As you can see what you get. I’ve posted the photos from the menu. Also as a another hint. It’s byo whatever you want. Table next to us. Bottle of Johnny walker. We had lots of beers. No charge. I’m
Somewhat worried about posting this but if you are reading then you are probably not the usual customer. They don’t seem to mind. Service is not friendly but seemingly on point for the type of establishment. Some highlights. The Uyghur salad. Is definitely different. And do try the dapanji. Definitely unlike I’ve had before. Chicken. Noodles. Potato chili. Really quite good. The samsa according to my friend are close to as good as in Uzbekistan. And they are very tasty. And the highlight is the lamb kebab. Superb. I’ve posted photos of everything we tried. And the photo menus.

Can't remember what we exactly had, was beef and thinly sliced potatoes mixed with some spices but wasn't chilli. We also got a spicy chicken cube dish. YUM😋

All the food is delicious and the place has a lot of ambience with cultural interior decor. It was a fun night and a great experience to have. They do need more staff members though on busy nights.

I have tried Uyghur foods before while in Sydney. When came to melbourne I brought my sisters here. And we were feel surprised when all the food came out. The portion was so big even though we we’re ordered the small size. The best part of the food is Lamb barbecue the meat just so tasty and juice. We really enjoy every bite. For sure we will back here again

Great food, great service. This is a family owned business and if you're looking for authentic East Asian cuisine, this is the place. The decor is a bit dated but feels very traditional. The lamb skewers are a must here and the portion sizes are enormous! Definitely value for money.

Such a great homey atmosphere! The place was buzzing, the food was delicious and it was a great price. Highly recommend the lamb kebab and eat it while it’s hot (don’t savour it, just order more when you finish lol)

Will definitely come back here again. FYI it is byo, I called to ask 😊

Chicken dish with noodles is a must order. Lamb and rice tastes sensational. Huge portions. Very cheap! BYO. cool vibe. What’s not to like? Ask for recommendations- they know their food. This is quite a special cuisine as well so would recommend it. Always able to find a spot.

I ordered several dishes for a group of 30 staff to have for our Friday lunch in our office. We didn't dine in this time. Uli was amazing. She helped me decide on what was nice and the number of portions to order. The food was A-mazing! Several people had never tasted Ugyhur food before, and they couldn't thank me enough for organising this. Every dish we ordered was flavoursome. We had the Green beans, Legendary Eggplant (a must!)
Stir Fried Lamb & cumin, Lamb kebabs Kawap (this dish converts non lamb lovers), Stir fried Noodle with Chicken
Rice polo, Stir Fried Chicken and Potato. I received many comments about how nice the potato was as well. Uli, we will be back before the end of the year, for sure! Thank you so much!

Amazing food, flavourful. The portion is big. Really satisfying. The L portion can be shared for 3-4 people. The naan is so thick and soft. The noodle is wonderful. Very recommended restaurant to try in Sydney.
