Excellent fresh Sushi, Sashimi along with tasty Chicken Teriyaki and amazing California Rolls. Incredible value with hearty portion sizes and friendly service. Can be crowded and busy so book or go outside peak times.

I have been getting takeaway from this place for a while and it's been great. I just ate in for lunch and am happy to say it's even better. Best to be there upon opening times to avoid waiting, service was well paced and it's simply the best sushi I've had. Very reasonable pricing also. Thanks Sushi Suma!

Been walking past here for a while.
Decor is plain but the food is satisfying in that it's just what you want when you're ordering.

This homey Japanese restaurant and the food is delicious/ fresh. . The lunch combo is decently priced at $20.80 including entree/ mains and I have been coming here for years. Very good value for money.

Staff were happy, attentive and polite. Sushi was fresh, nice proportions and beautifully cut. Tempura was light, hot and crisp. Softshell crab was also crisp and nicely presented. With rice and miso, this was like dinner in Japan. Very happy thank you.

Not fancy setting but IMHO the best Japanese food in Sydney!
The freshest top quality sashimi, balanced flavours and really chilled vibe.

I went there for lunch with my colleague. I ordered the lunch special combo of sushi tray and beef teriyaki. My colleague ordered the sashimi tray and vegetable tempura. We shared our meals. It was fresh, tasty, large servings and great value for money. We couldn't finish our food not because it wasn't tasty, but because the it was too much food.

Delicious fresh sashimi, sushi and pretty much everything on the menu
All decent serving sizes so unlike normal Japanese where you don't feel full , you will at this place.
Tempura is lightly battered and not oily, very authentic.
Great combo dishes available too to get best of many dishes

Fantastic Japanese Cuisine at a reasonable price.
Delicious Delicately Presented meals for the whole family.
I’m so happy the new owner is one of the original chiefs.
Definitely our ‘go-to’ for indulgence and a friendly and fulfilling meal, lunch or dinner.
Try the chicken katsu and agedashi tofu!
ENJOY

Despite recent price increases, Sushi Suma is still one of my favourite sushi restaurants around. Good value for money thanks to it's very healthy portion sizes. If there is 2 of you and you both order a set meal, more than likely you will end up rolling yourself out of there. Place has a good vibe and is always bustling with people.

Booking isn't an option so if you can, try and get there when it opens to avoid long waits.

I have been here for over 10 years and i absolutely love their food. My favourites are always the tempura and teriyaki beef dinner or combination sets. Honestly the best teriyaki beef I've had across all Japanese restaurants i've been to and their sushi/sashimi is so fresh and delicious. Price is very affordable and service is exceptional!

Been going here for 12 years. I try to get out and sample new restaurants but keep getting drawn back to Sushi Suma. They are so consistent, even through an ownership change a few years ago.

Portions are still large (they used to be ridiculous) and the pricing is great. Recommend a kaiso salad (to share) with any other menu item.

Food is part of the culture of Japan, and Japanese people care about it deeply. I've been to Japan numerous times, and the food is a special part of the experience of visiting Japan. In general the "Japanese" food served in Australia is vin ordinaire at best. The staff are Japanese, which is rare and important given the cultural investment. I came here with a Japanese mate and the food is superb.

My then girlfriend and I have been coming here for over 21yrs, from the days of sitting at the bar, where the chefs cooked, to now where she's my wife with two kids, the food has hardly changed, the service the same if not better, one original chef in still remains. We miss the clipity clop of the Japanese Wooden Sandells that some staff wore, otherwise this is one place you have to go at least once. Thanks for yet another memorable night.

Service can be patchy comma but the general food quality and speed at which you are served is excellent. It is a very popular Point given it is BYO and can get very busy particularly on Saturday night. That said if you go during non peak periods, for example, weeknights you can generally easily get a table and services Swift. Very reasonably priced sake and beer as well give her a ridiculous Sydney prices elsewhere
