Twyla was our tour quide and She was incredible. Very knowablble and could tell you everything and more about the caves than you could imagine.

Definitely worth visiting. Twyla's Dedication to Parks & Wildlife Victoria go above and beyond, her passion for preserving the caves and keeping them as natural as possible is inspiring.

I hope twyla gets to read this!

We visited the caves during the Melbourne Cup long holiday, and took the Royal cave tour .It was very well conducted. The limestone cave formations are awesome!! It's a great experience to view them in person. The conducted tour allows for adequate time to appreciate the formations of stalactites and also for some nice photography.

The tour took around an hour, and involved a little bit of stair-climbing, but nothing difficult. The elderly in our group (aged 75+) managed the tour without much difficulty. The floor is a bit slippery but not a major impediment. Parts of the cave route can get cramped, but should be manageable for most people.

I will not recommend this tour for infants and very young kids (under 3) as they may get cranky due to the darkness and damp and humid climate inside the caves. However, I highly recommend it for older kids and adults.
We went here on a hot day, but the temperature inside the cave was pleasant (though it was humid).

Note: Food and water are not allowed inside the caves during the tour.

Awesome experience! Lot's of fun for the whole family. We visited only fairy cove, due to the limited time availability. Book in advance! We didn't get why we should come 30 min prior our tour.

Stunning. Fairy Cave was beautiful, nature is absolutely amazing. Tour guide was very friendly, knowledgable & funny.
Great place for families to visit.

Such a shame that people ignore signs & requests of tour guides asking us NOT TO TOUCH the cave walls etc as it does permanent damage. To see the discolouration of the walls & formations caused by oils etc from peoples hands/fingers touching & feeling them, or the broken formations from people trying to take a souvenir home with them is maddening. A moment of ignorance & greed does a lifetime of damage. Do as you're told, DO NOT TOUCH & we can all continue to enjoy the natural wonders. Keep ignoring the requests & eventually there will be nothing left for future generations to see & enjoy because you have destroyed them or they have had to be closed off to the public so they can be preserved.

Buchan is a beautiful place.
I went to see Fairy Cave.
The tour guide was great, very informative and interesting.
He was happy to answer any questions I had.
The story surrounding the finding of the cave by the Moon family was very interesting.
A great walk in and up to the cave.
Will visit the other cave on my next visit to Gippsland.

Took the family in a group of about 14 to these caves and had an absolutely terrific time. The Royal caves were still open and totally exceeded all expectations. I actually visited some 15 years earlier but did not recall it being so enthralling. The guides are terrific humorous great to get along with and very knowledgeable and make the whole tour wonderful experience. I highly recommend it and as you can see from some of my photos it’s absolutely spectacular. It’s also not as cold as you think it’s going to be we rugged up and everybody had stripped off their jackets walking through 45 minutes later.

I visited Royal cave. It was a day trip. Extraordinary experience, loved it. Tickets must be purchased online. Must arrive 15 minutes before the tour starts. Guided tour was excellent and very informative. Flash photography is allowed. A torch would be handy. Easy to walk with some caution. Bags/backpacks are not allowed.

Bought tickets online prior to arriving. Easy checkin. The tour was well organised informative and entertaining. Kids were welcome and they enjoyed it. Not too much stooping but was required in a few areas. Best bit was there are no spiders or creepy crawlies living underground - Couldn’t say the same about the spiders in the Toilets though ;P. There is a playground. Shop. Reasonable amount of parking. Picnic tables. I have to say. This actually felt so like I was back in America. From the wooden arch at the entry and little streams, to the maple trees and ranger guided tours. Oh and I loved the hand written letter in the little museum. We had a great morning.

It was a great experience going through the Royal Cave, Buchan. It was a well organized and guided tour lasting about 45 minutes. You are not allowed to carry bags or food or even selfie sticks, in order that the formations inside the cave are not damaged. Initially you descent through a narrow segment of the cave system and can see the water stream by its side. The limestone rock along with the stalactites and stalagmite formations inside the cave are a marvellous sight. In all there are approximately 150 or so steps to climb during the journey, but they are rather spread out and no one segment is too difficult to climb. Impressive attraction to visit!

Visiting these caves was a great experience. Very beautiful caves. Our guide was nice and friendly and explained about the history of caves in detail. Other than caves there is a camping site with all the facilities like shower, toilets, laundry, kitchen and BBQ areas. Nice and beautiful parks. Ample parking spaces. Definitely recommended to visit this place.

Visited the Fairy Cave, it was fantastic. Excellent alternative for a rainy day, the views, flora and fauna terrific. Spotted a few kangaroos next to the caves, lots of fun for my little ones. Next time I will definitely visit the Royal Cave and bring up a picnic to spend more time at the park.

Good family adventure. We visited royal cave and our guide Dale is fantastic. Too bad we didn't managed to check fairy cave since we missed the last sched of the tour that day. But overall kids had fun. Amazing how the stalactites and stalagmites developed over the years. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Absolutely beautiful caves. Went on the Royal Cave and Fairy Cave tour and the guide explain the history of the caves very well. Definitely recommended. Even the surrounding areas are filled with greenery and the air was so fresh. Great for camping and also hiking around the area.

This was outside my comfort zone but our tour guide made it pleasant experience. Book your tickets online. You don't need so many layers on you. Temperature is 17 degrees inside. No bags allowed. Don't carry food or drinks with you. A must see.

Had a fun morning within the caves, difficult in parts (but being 6'10" would do that) as having to crawl backwards through a small tunnel shortly after entry. The tour guide was fantastic, quite humid underground so wear lite clothing. A sturdy 17°C throughout the cave system, 70m underground.

Carpark near royal cave available, also near the visitors centre. Toilets, showers, camp ground with kitchen/ cooking area, children's playground.

Not for one who is claustrophobic. Tight walkways, low ceilings at the 5'7" mark, gets higher in some places.

Looking to return in future.
Recommended area to visit.
