What a great place. So many gifts, knowledgeable staff, extensive interesting museum and a guided town tour costing just $15. The tours are only twice a day the second is at 1.30pm. Our guide was amazing. My only complaints it wasn't long enough - it needed to be 8 hours not two 😉. Friends of ours went back the following day and did the tour again. We bought some nut cake which was scrumptious.

This is a beautiful establishment. History is checkered but the past is the past. Life was very difficult. That's what makes this place even more colourful. People are friendly and the buildings are amazing.

Lovely people, Excellent tour. Gift shop is well set out, clean and tidy. The museum is full of memorabilia and the tour was professionally ran giving an insight into the past of New Norcia. Might have to look into staying a few nights.

Thoroughly enjoyed the tour yesterday. Well worth the visit it was even more interesting for me because of my Spanish heritage in particular from Burgos. Take the tour well worth the small expense over walking around on your own without acquiring alot of the history and facts provided by the guides as well as seeing buildings you can't get into without the tour.

A not-to-be-missed experience if in the area. Unique historic town with exceptional tour around the monastic township. Some tasty souvenirs that are made in town. My third visit to this beautiful town with a great museum too.

Very helpful and highly informed staff. Enjoyed the museum including the Raphael painting. Fantastic collection of religious art. Didn’t have time to do the full tour but strolled around, went to the beautiful chapel, got some of the baked goodies (amazing bread) and will open the bottle of Benedictine monk port soon.. support local WA communities!

We stayed at the guest house and loved it. A great insight into a history of monastic living in Western Australia, a history I knew nothing about. Definitely worth doing the tour as well.

Certainly worth a visit

The monk’s are Real!!

If you’re Catholic, it will be hanging off your sleeve… bring your money for your guilt

If your not Catholic, you will be overwhelmed by the things you can buy your Catholic friends

Good food on offer and good wines

Either way it’s going to cost you and you will enjoy the experience

Absolutely the most unique place in Australia, not another like it, anywhere! The souvenier shop has plenty of things to buy at good prices.

You think you're in Europe but it's 130km from Perth. The buildings are magnificent.

We bought the guided tour for the monastery walk and the self paced museum tour. It was definitely worth to pay for the guided tour as the guide was great...full of knowledge and stories of the long history of the monastery.

Culturally and historically significant town. Established in the early 1800's by Benedictine Monk missionaries to assimilate the local Aboriginals into Western Society. Pleasant walk around the town and through the buildings. All areas have information signs providing key information about the area or the building. A very pleasant way to spend a morning or afternoon.

What an amazing history & place. Way ahead of its time. Invited, but not coerced, the indigenous people to join them.
Fascinating history & present!
Also great bread, beer, jam, tarts, port all produced in-house.

Join the tour to really find out more about this amazing place…..the history and how this place came about!!
The next time we will stay at the Monastery Guesthouse and to eat and pray with the monks.

New Norsia is the only monastic town in Australia, located 132km north of Perth approximately.
New Norcia is where the Benedictine Monk missionaries assimilated the local aboriginals into western society in the early 1800’s. A town full of history. Entry is free except for the museum. A very peaceful place to visit full of history and hardships of the past. A great day out

Amazing good your of 2 hours at 11am. Highly recommend. Makes you understand why this monastery is where it's is. Good coffee and food at small roadhouse next door.

The tour and museum pass is well worth it. The 2 hr town walking tour is very informative and the local guide Melissa is very knowledgeable of how life was and is in the town today. The tour gets you into the flour mill, abbey press and church to see some amazing artwork and pressed metal features. The museum and life at St Joseph's feature in the chapel were a highlight. Couldn't help but to take home some baked goods from the gift shop as well.
