Great free camp close to town. There is a 45 min well marked loop walk behind that goes through huge trees( still near road), beautiful patch of rainforest and sandy shore of the river.

We camped here for 1 night. What a fantastic place. Easy walk over the bridge into town. Clean amenities block but showers are cold. Easy walk down to the river. Plenty of grass and flat areas for the caravan.

So we stopped here to get off the road before dusk, what a surprise. The park was only 1/2 full and while the showers were cold only it was a warm day. Later Rod a local fruit and veg seller called buy and availed the park of his home grown and hand made jams and chutneys and sauses. Along with some localy sourced cinders, he calls by most afternoon's except when its raining. Great to see locals who have looked outside the box to help the travelers who pass thru each day. All up a great experience and no fuss. Water is available however power is not, the hotel was open on Friday evening for dinner untill 8pm . I hope this helps other travellers.

Great spot! Former council caravan park so laid out accordingly with generously sized sites. Has water and toilets and the grounds are kept fairly tidy. Fills up quickly throughout the day so get in early to secure the best of the real estate. Close to the town (3 min walk) which has a pub, cafes, bakery etc.

What an amazing place this is. Firstly, for now it is free. Secondly, it is so tidy and clean. The free amenities are very well maintained and there are powered sites and water taps. Sadly some people think they can hook up to these and thereby restrict others access. The walks from the campgrounds are teeming with birdlife and it is a two minute walk to the village of Cann River. Overall an excellent place to stay for 48 hours if you are touring the area.

Great free, peaceful camp right near the river. Plenty of shady trees. Good amenities block with cold showers. Busy during summer holidays but there was still enough room for everyone :-)

Nice free campground to stay 1 or 2 days (limit is 48 hours). No reservations needed and free of charge. Decent toilets and shower. Walking distance to local shops and cafe.

Currently free as the electricity and gas shut off so no hot shower. A nice walk around it. The river has a small beach area just on the walk. It is near the road but is quiet. Saw lots of wildlife here including wallabies.

Fantastic stop!
Used to be a caravan park now a free camp for short stays. Maintained nicely by the locals. Thank you! 👍🙋‍♀
Quite a few drive through van parks which was great for me!
It is close to the road but we found it peaceful
Fully self contained so we didn't need or use the facilities,
there's a dump point

Great free campsite, dump point, and toilets. These were reasonably clean, well stocked with toilet roll, and there were showers, too. Credit to the local council for these amenities..

This is the most idyllic spot ever, what a gem, probably very busy in school holidays though. Can't book, its first in and free, I know they hope that visitors will spend some money in this beautiful little town. It's a short walk to the shops which has all your basic needs. My favourite place ever

Clean, green and free. Only cold water in showers and kitchen/ laundry area. Some noise from the road but not annoying. Other people staying there were very quiet and respectful of others. Bring your mozzie repellent.

Thoroughly enjoyed the serenity, well set out and maintained track. Beautiful to see the wallabies and many birds and to hear the sounds of flowing water from Cann River. Well done

This is the most beautiful little spot by the river. Very clean and also green! Well maintained lawns, bins and toilets. Powered sites and even showers. Ohh did I mention it’s FREE. Definitely worth the stop in. Just remember to support the town with a nice breakfast or purchase on your way out. 🤠

Free camps, don’t come much better than this. Many thanks to the local community for providing such a lovely facility. Easy walk into town and not many trucks at night time. Don’t forget to spend a few dollars in the town to keep this place open.
