Friendly staff, beautiful fish and well cooked chips. Best meal I had whilst working locally for a week!

Fresh fish on display. I have NEVER seen that in any fish and chip shop. Well Done. We ordered crumbed fish which was crumbed and then grilled. Not deep fried. Absolutely delicious. Chips were thick cut and cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. I would definitely recommend this shop. Thank you George and Kids !!

Best fish and chips in town for sure. Been here maybe 10 times, and 9 out of the 10 it has been amazing.

I also love how their menu has real photos of how the food is made - not those fake pictures from other take out.

Defintely worth the drive from Halls Gap and food stayed warm the trip back. After a disappointing taste of potato cakes at another place, the hunt for good fish and chips arose and a quick Google suggested George and Kids Fish and Chips. The person taking orders via phone was friendly, service in store was nice and food .. oh my god! The batter, the lush potato cakes, the fish! Everything!! Left remarking how amazing the food was even the next morning. Defintely deserving of being in the Top 20 F&C shops in VIC. Good job everyone! What a wonderful place

Many places claim to be one of the best fish and chip shops in the state. This one truly is! The place is so old school, and George is still maning the counter, after so many years. And yes, his kids (well and truly grown up) are there too. The fish is there for you to pick, freshly battered in front of you, perfect potato cakes and chips, all cooked in clean oil. As one regular said to me, "I drove an hour out of my way, just to come here"
We'll be definitely returning.

Stopped here for lunch on the way to Grampians National Park and had the best fish and chips meal ever. This includes the UK and US. You select your fresh fish from the case and then they prepare it using premium frying oil for an excellent piece of fried fish. Excellent meal!

Probably the best fish and chips i have found in the region. Multiple options for the ways fish or prawns are cooked with great atmosphere amongst staff and customers. Nearly every nighttime visit the shop has consistently had local people flowing in and out which by itself is a good recommendation. If you like your fish grilled as we do, ask about the various options. We have tried 3 and all have been good.
Sometimes up to a twenty minute wait after ordering because of the volume of customers but worth the wait. Tonight I purchased grilled king prawns for our fussy mum and she loved them.

Stopped here on the way back from Port Pirie. What a wonderful find, brought burgers potato cakes and scallops, which were very enjoyable. The scallops actually had there roe attached, something that is rare these days. Myself being a very fussy eater, absolutely loved my burger with salad and beetroot. If you are ever going through Stawell, drop in, say hi the couple running the plave are lovely. Just across diagonaly from Macca's, you won't be disappointed.

Im backpackering around Australia since last year. I have travelled and tried fish and chips a lot. This fish and chips is one of the best I've tried. We can taste that their fish was fresh before cooked. They have thick potato cake and generous with seasoning. And the burger was taste super as well! Like it!

Excellent. George and his wife Antionette were very friendly. Fresh fish 3 times a week from the market, displayed in a glass cabinet. Great service for our group of 10.
