I've never been to Penang, so I don't know how authentic this Taste of Penang is, but I very much enjoyed the food there. The Mamak Mee Goreng is delicious, offering a perfect blend of spices and textures. The Bak Kut Teh is delicious and full of aromatic flavors. I've already planned to go back again to try the Char Kway Teow.

Always love eating the food at Tasty of Penang as they are all delicious especially the Char Kway Teow which is cooked with enough wok hei and served in a generous portion with big juicy prawns. Love the sambal chilli 🌶 they provide as well. Absolutely delicious and highly recommended!

Authentic Penang taste! As someone who has lived in Penang for 15 years and is very critical of genuine Penang street food, I'd say this is the best you can find in Sydney. 5 stars without a doubt. Everything was spot on, so eat your favourite and you will be very pleased! Coconut water is pretty nice too. If you fancy some Kikapo and 100plus, they have those too.

Service is very fast for us, all served within 10mins. The owners are from Penang and we order our food speaking Penang Hokkien (of course they speak English too), makes us feel like we are back to Penang.

Disposable utensils are in use currently. Something to be improved hopefully when the business becomes more established.

Common toilets are located about 30m away.

The menu are currently limited to only selective dishes, so order whatever offered on the day of visit. CKT, hokkien mee, hokkien char, dried wanton noodles, dried noodles with curry chicken, asam laksa, char hor fun (yin yong) are on the menu on both visits.

The food is so good I returned the very following weekend even though Burwood is 40mins drive away. Any Penangnite will surely enjoy the food from this humble restaurant.

A shockingly great little restaurant/stall with authentic, delicious Malaysian food, reminiscent of a palette from home. We had the wat tan hor and char kuay teow, and they were both so much better than we expected. Staff were also friendly to top it off, and they also had a selection of Malaysian beverages to pick from. Dishes were served in disposable plates and cutlery though, …which, I suppose, adds to the authenticity. Awesome!

Possibly the best assam laksa and char kuey teow we've had in Australia, very much like Penang. Iced Milo was acceptable too. Will be back!

A cosy and authentic little restaurant in Burwood chinatown.
Had the prawn mee and it speedily moved up on my list to be the best one in Sydney. It's got the right taste, and more importantly, the kick - spice.
The duck egg CKT was equally good. Although, I would reserve from ranking that asvthe best CKT as it would be unfair for those without the advantage of having duck egg.😬
Also can't resist not ordering the char mee. It's my first time having that in and outside of Malaysia and I truly enjoyed that, too.
Now when I return to this place I'd have a dilemma of deciding to order as I'd be spoiled for truly delicious choice. Oh, well! 1st world problems!😁

It felt so good to be able to come here and converse with the owners in Penang hokkien. Felt like i was back in Penang!

CKT is good, penang hokkien mee too (i asked for more sambal as I could take the spice for a penangite). And the first time i see penang hokkien char in sydney!

We visited on their second day of soft opening and had the har mee, and char kway teow (with duck egg). The Harmee tasted authentic but it really should come with a 3 chilli spicey warning! The owner was kind enough to replace it with a milder dish free of charge as it was far too spicey for me. CKT was very authentic and super tasty, not oily like most, complete with the crunchy fried fat cubes ! Great friendly service. All the best guys !

CKT (char kuey teow) was really good and I would come back for this and other dishes. But the sauce on the Chee cheong fun wasn’t to our liking flavour wise.

The food is amazing. I love the food. Exactly like malaysian food. Only 1 comment sometimes when ordering doesn't follow the customer's notes. As I have threw the food a lot of time since there's a pork or beef. The price is not cheap. So sad when I threw the food.

Finally a decent Malaysian place in Burwood! Wish they swapped the plastic spoon with something more durable but flavour of their food is pretty good. Can't wait to try their roti when it's available

MALAYSIAN NOODLE HEAVEN 😍🥵

I've been told this spot cooks up some really authentic Penang-style Malaysian noodle dishes. Char kway teow, char hor fun, hokkien char, assam laksa, wanton mee, curry chicken mee and mee goreng. You name it, and they probably do it. I pigged out recently with the homie @_jennytian and we can confirm that this place is most certainly a vibe ☝.

All the staff here speak a mix of Malay, Chinese and English when talking to each other so somehow, I knew the food was going to be good before it even came out. The char hor fun with it's thick and goopy gravy was wonderful. The chef really knows how to work that wok. The flat rice noodles are smokey despite being smothered in sauce. That was Jenny's favourite.

My favourites were the mamak mee goreng and the curry chicken with egg noodles. The sambal and sauces they fry the noodles up with in the mee goreng are superb and the prawns were the cherry on top. Again, a level of smokiness in the noodles. Ask for the extra fried egg on top. The chicken in the curry was so tender. It's so good you might not even bother with the noodles on the side. One can only wonder how great it would taste with a crispy bread roll to dip in it.

A fair few of the Malaysian diners here loved the Penang assam laksa. It's unlike the laksa you're used to because it's a sweet and sour fish-based soup, which is more tangy, spicy and even pungent. We were too full to go at a whole laksa ourselves but we were given a little soup sample and asked to dip the spring rolls in it!

We enjoyed our birthday dinner. The CKT and char hor fun Yong Yong and fried tofu are the best that we have ever have. The service is good, and serving is generous.
Highly recommended.
A suggestion to the chef, please try not to include shrimp paste in the chee Cheong fun.

Tried the penang char hor fun and it was perfect! Each noodle fried with the right amount of wok hei, big portion and lots of meat, prawn, vege👌

The char keow teow is very good. Tasty and have wok hei. The chee cheong fun is also very good, if you are from Penang. It is not for everyone. Will come back and try other food from the menu.
