Balding Bay

We started the trail from Horseshoe Bay via the small bridge behind convenience store.

Definitely recommend walking shoes, lots of water (no filling tap on this trail). Hat, sunscreen, camera, togs/towel. No togs required for Balding Bay as a nude beach. We are just under middle age and found the hike to Balding Bay reasonable and enjoyable. We don’t do lots of walks and not the fittest people. Where we saw some backpacks in thongs and bare feet to Balding Bay. You need to be comfortable walking over rocks and lots and lots of stairs.

Balding Bay has a toilet upon entering the bay and only large rocks for shade. Lucky there were only a few people there so we dared the nude swim. At least you didn’t have wet togs walking to Radical Bay. Warm and protected bay. People were also wearing swimwear when we left.

Next stage of the walk to Radical Bay which was hard and steep. Whatever goes up, must come down…
There are tree and rock options for shade at Radical Bay, no toilets. We packed lunch and stayed at this bay for an hour.
We we were tired walking back and found it hard work and I was so glad when it was over.

If you want to see both bays, then do it in one go. I wouldn’t walk back two different days, unless you were fit and enjoy steep stairs.

A nice beach with a toilet and a rock that looks like a whale. This beach is a nudist beach so be warned if that's not your type of thing. The rocks do have sharp oysters though.

Best beach of Magnetic Island. Would recommend parking at Henry Lawson Street or Dent Street to access via National Park entrance. The walk itself takes 30-40mins and is tranquil throughout. The beach is awesome as it's a nudist beach. Only thing is it can be known for Irukandji jellyfish especially between Dec to May. Besides that, one of the best spots to visit at Magnetic.

Gorgeous postcard perfect location. Relax on this beautiful beach and swim in the crystal water, there was even a few small waves for a body surf when we were here.

A bit more strenuous walk than we had thought it would be, but worth it I’d say. Very beautiful little beach surrounded by big rocks and nature. A little sweat never killed anyone! :)

Bit of a walk, but get in early and you might have it all to yourself! Explore the large boulders.

Take the hike that says 1km but feels like 3km. Well woth it and it is magnificent
