I just wanted to give some positive feedback from the dinner my partner and I had tonight (01/12). We came in for our anniversary and all the staff were excellent.
- gave us a complimentary dessert with a happy anniversary message
- cleaned and let us keep a shell from the deluxe sashimi dish (our anniversary memento that we do each year)
- let me charge my phone
- conversational and service with a smile

Thank you for the pleasant experience, Kokoroya is a great restaurant.

We have been going here for our local Japanese food. A great place for a family celebration. The quality is consistently high and there is a play area in the dining area for small kids. The kids meals are great and the staff are always friendly and helpful. The ordering is done via an iPad so you can keep track of what you've ordered. We have been here many many many times!

Very good place. Every time I pass is always busy, doesn’t matter which day or time. So we had our dinner today. It was teriyaki and grilled beef plus tuna scallops sushi and this is was really amazing 🤩 beef is tender and thin with great combinations of sauces and another food is also delicious. Thank you guys! Well done!

Overall the place is great: not very expensive, fast food serving, various drink menu and fresh food.
You might need to book it I advance, it seems to be busy all the time.

To the owner, I would suggest adding more items to menu like more sushi rolls or nigiri.

Nice Japanese restaurant that's good for kids. The food is authentic and good quality. It gets a bit busy sometimes so it's a bit hard to book a table. There is also the option of takeaway and delivery. We have been going here for years and always enjoy it.

This is the 2nd time that we dined in this place. There are heaps of options in the menu.

The ambiance is nice, the wall and ceiling decorations are made of Bamboo. It is cozy and clean.

Staff are polite, customer service is fantastic. We ordered using the tablet that they provide, it was easy to use. They serve our food in a short matter of time. The food are very delicious.

Forgot to take the photo of the Pork Dumplings, my family just attacked and eat it merciless lol. It is our favourite side dish in Kokoroya.

They also have variety of desserts options.

We parked on the side of the road.

Service is fast, plenty of vegetarian options - the tofu steak is a must try! As is the tempura eggplant. All our dishes were cooked to perfection.
Our favourite Japanese restaurant in Maroubra.

Amazing amazing! This place has very nice ambience, well designed, clean, kind waitresses, and especially yummy food! This place is walking distance from my place. We dine here so very often that maybe the staffs remember us, nearly every weekend. My go to place for casual dining and for special occasion as well! They have lunch special which taste really nice! Staffs are super accommodating and chefs always greeting clients when they come or leave. You have to try their sushi. Will be my all time favourite.

My favourite Japanese Restaurant in the eastern suburbs.

Very simple yet clean and modern fitout.
Food is ordered through an iPad, so not traditional. All dishes are prepared fresh and to order. Delicious authentic taste.

Outstanding customer service, staff always have a smile on their face.

Great selection of imported beers.

‘Mango Mango’ with a double shot of Bacardi is highly recommended.

Great place for lunch especially if you have young children as they have a child friendly play area.

Love this place food and service is always great. You can see a photo of what you’re about to order on the iPad which is useful.

If you’re not going with kids ask to sit away from the play pen

Ive been here only a few times on special occasions, and this is definitely one of the best places to go to for one, such as a date, birthday, or a small celebration The staff here are quite fantastic, and usually do their best to make customers leave with a smile on their faces. The chefs should also be commended, because the food here is absolutely amazing. Knocked my socks right off. I wanted to come here with my partner as she’s never been to this place, and I’ve grown up living practically next to it. I recall it was a fantastic place and that she should experience it too. We were excited to try it out again after a long time, and it was a fantastic experience.

We ordered a lot of food on this day, probably overkill for two people, but it was so delightful. They use an iPad for customers to place orders and look through their menu, and they usually have a wide range of dishes and sides, though some may occasionally be unavailable. In total we had a salmon lover roll, salmon miso yaki, takoyaki, karaage bun, tempura California roll, pan fried gyoza, squid tempura, and a small udon bowl.

Everything was fantastic. The aburi salmon lover and the tempura California rolls were one of the best rolls I’ve had, and I can confidently say that. Both rolls were freshly made, and the blend of flavours in each bite was wonderful. The salmon miso yaki was average at best, as we weren’t entire,y sure what it was. It was very little in size, though the flavours did pack a punch. Unfortunately it was probably the least favourite of the night. Takoyaki was fantastic, better than average, and was generously topped with bonito flakes. The karaage bun was definitely the sleeper hit of the night. Judging by its name, it doesn’t sound that appetising, but when it comes to taste, it excelled well beyond our expectations. Although little, it packed some serious flavour and the bun was there to balance it all out. It was my partners favourite meal that night. Pan fried gyozas: timeless and essential, couldn’t go wrong with it, tasted just as good as we expected, with the sauce to compliment it further. Squid tempura was decent, it lacked quite a bit of flavour and mostly tasted of batter from the crumbed parts, but it was a lot tastier after dipping it with the provided sauce. The udon noodles were delightful, and my partner had finished most of it before I could have seconds. She had already entered a food coma halfway inti the night, so I had eaten most of the food, no regrets though.

Definitely a night to remember, not only because of the absurd amount of food we ordered, but also because of how delectable everything had tasted. Scrumptious.

Love it here. It's a great local Japanese restaurant a couple blocks away from the Junction. It's just near the Bowen Library.

It's great for kids and even has a little play area where you can let the kids run wild while you're waiting for your food.

The best part of this place is the quality of the food. Its own and run by an authentic Japanese and one of the few places in the area that hasn't sold out to someone else after becoming successful.

As a result food is authentic and consistent quality that was good enough to satisfy people familiar with Japanese food.

It has a computerized ordering system like most Japanese places have now, and one of the only complaint is that it doesn't have as many options as most izakaya have.

It's great because it also has a kids menu and is generally pretty friendly with kids.

But if you live Japanese food and know what it should taste like, not the sold out Chinese versions, then this is the place for you.

Kokoroya is a good quality, fresh Japanese restaurant.

The service is efficient and attentive, using iPads to order dishes. The staff are also very welcoming and friendly.

My main highlight was the fresh sashimi platter that melted in your mouth. Additionally, some other favourite side dishes that I recommend include the tofu steak, pork gyoza and miso eggplant.

Overall, this was a pleasant dining experience with a calm and enjoyable atmosphere.

We come here regularly when feeling eat out. It became our favorite Japanese restaurant in Sydney after we tried other similar menu set in other places.

They are best values, always friendly and quick service. Once you booked here your name will be remembered when you called next time.

We ordered takeaway during lockdown from their website, it’s very convenient and user friendly, the meal will be ready in 15mins after ordered. And the quality is always good!!

Superb!!!

Every dish is presented very well and tastes great. Highly recommended. Great place for family parties. Advance booking is highly recommended as this place is always busy even during the weekdays. We have visited this place many times, and we will keep going there.
