Ho Jiak Haymarket

We were Sydney from Singapore and chanced upon this cozy restaurant in Chinatown. We had such a pleasant experience here, our server Angelina took such good care of our table, especially for our 4-year-old. She took the effort to come by to check on us, made sure everything was good for us! The food was exceptional, well worth the money too! Thank you Ho Jiak staff for the hospitality!

Had a lunch date with the wife, we came on a Tuesday so they had 50% discount on the pippies dish - which was a bonus.

We had to have the traditional Hainan chicken, which I believed is one of the best in Sydney.

The other dish was dried egg noodle and duck - which was one of our favourite dishes whilst travelling through Malaysia.

We had 4 dishes and 2 drinks, priced well.

Been to Ho Jiak multiple times across all locations and they never disappoint! I love the atmosphere at Haymarket as it’s more casual and intimate but still aesthetic and delicious. We tried the $38 all you can eat supper this time and really enjoyed the flavours and balance of the menu. My favourite was the roti with curry 🤤 Service is always exceptional, staff are super friendly❤‍🔥

Sherlen was amazing and recommended us the best food!! We were so impressed, and it was all so delicious - we got the teh tarik cocktail, char kway kak, the salted duck egg curry chicken and the chicken Nadi lemak! She also just made us feel so welcome, and made the experience so much fun! Thank you for such a great night !!!

The staff here are really friendly and accommodating. We had our two year old with us who was being an absolute pest but they were so nice and helpful.

I got the crispy chicken and rice which came with gravy. It was really good.
Lots to choose from on the menu, great descriptions of the food with pictures as well. Plenty of seating inside with high chairs for children provided, as well as child safe cutlery, plates and cups.

Gets busy quickly so definitely get in early. When we arrived there were a few tables still but when we left, the line was out the door.

Has a nice old kopitiam feel interior that is nice for a dinner or a catch up. Ordered the Chicken Rice and Teh Tarik. The Teh Tarik was fantastic. Thick and flavorful though a little pricey. Chicken Rice was also authentic accompanied with a nice chilli sauce. Apparently need to book to avoid queueing. Last booking 4.30pm. Was lucky to be able to get in without a booking. They have seating in upstairs and downstairs. Service was efficient and friendly. Had a good chat with them as I went there quite late and other patrons have started to leave. Look for Jio to take care of you.

A good Malaysian Restaurant choice. Easily accessible and have plenty of seats (ground floor and second floor). Price point, pretty good for the size and the taste. Some of their soup taste a little bland for me, but most of the food are great. They have pretty good and quick service as well as cleanliness. My favorite is the salted egg wings, presented beautifully and taste delicious.

Highly recommend the Nasi Goreng Pattaya ( Malays seafood fried rice) and the Hainan Chicken. Chicken skewers were also very good!

What a cute place with such flavorful dishes🥹 This is hands down the best Malaysian restaurant I have been to in Sydney! No wonder it is very popular! There's so many vegetarian options on the menu! I tried the Vegetarian Indomie Goreng and it was absolutely mind-blowing🥹 It's a perfect mix of sweet and spicy noodles. It's dry and not soupy but it's cooked to perfection and served with a sunny side egg. The staff was very friendly and was very patient in guiding us through the menu!

Delicious Malaysian cuisine with friendly and precise wait staff. We ordered satay and steamed fish which took longer to prepare which was good, so we had a chance to get started on everything else we’d ordered.

The Malaysian eatery dazzles with its authentic flavors; the Char Koay Teow sizzles with a perfect balance of sweet and smoky, while the Indomie Goreng bursts with savory spices. One of my favourite place to get my Malaysian food craving fixed! Love their Salted Egg Yolk Chicken Wing and Fried Rice! Jaelin has provided us a lot of great recommendation and good service :)) will definitely come back again.

Incredibly delicious food and varied Malaysian menu in the heart of Chinatown.

We queued to get in on a Saturday night, but it was worth it and the service was relatively quick.

Ordering is via QR code, but the menu was stalling and not loading properly, so we ended up flagging down an actual person.

My friend is gluten-free, and she was quite happy that there was a range of marked GF menu options.

I'm definitely planning on heading back with a non-GF friend to sample more of the food options!

The food was absolutely amazing! Top quality. It did take a while to come but it was worth it. The Milo Godzilla was also delightful.

Grilled Wagyu steak is good. Ghar Koay Teow is the menu I like most.

The food was an explosion of flavour and traditional spices blended in the perfect way. We waiting 20 mins in line but the food came relatively quickly and it was all worth it!! The service was great, the waitress Sherlene was an icon. Her vibe radiated confidence and you can tell she knows the food is great. Overall was a great experience, you can’t order anything wrong here. Also love the gluten free options.

The service was excellent, we had a wonderful night here. Especially the girl called Ing, she is amazing and she definitely deserves a raise on wages. The night was perfect with her services including a big smile and being very polite, she replied to every request and helped with bringing the birthday and sang the birthday song with us. The food was very good as usual, what surprised us is the service from her. It’s hard to receive amazing service and staff nowadays, I highly recommend giving her a raise!

Good ambience - interior was very cutely designed. I really like the little details (like the small “Lebuh Ah Quee” sign in the photo). Very busy place and definitely lives up to the hype! Good food, good service, would recommend! 👍👍
