The Shaggy Cow

This was hands down one of the best lunches we’ve had in a long time. So many accommodating meals for gluten free which made me extremely happy! We shared 3 entree meals and they were all so flavoursome. The honey pork was a stand out. The staff were also really lovely and friendly. Definitely recommend !

Wonderful service, wonderful food, excellent coffee. Our server was so helpful, unafraid to make suggestions, which were all spot-on. The porridge was beautifully presented with both stewed and fresh fruit. The pancake was unique, with caramelized bananas and toasted walnut. Instead of cream I asked for yoghurt and they brought that out with fresh blueberries and strawberries. Wonderful!

Visited this cafe for lunch and it has great atmosphere. Staff were really nice and the scrambled eggs were delicious. The freshly squeezed orange juice was some of the best I’ve ever had from a cafe.

Wonderful food and service! Dhaka style Duck curry was divine, Wagyu slow cooked shine was soft and tasty, Lobster & Dory Spaghetti amazing, we all finished with Sticky date pudding, walnut brittle and cream yum!

After growing up in Mittagong I've lived in other places since 1990. Where was this place when I was young? Dropped in today for a fabulous experience. Waitstaff was professional but friendly and very helpful. Food was absolutely amazing and they even made my daughter's and her man's dogs feel welcome. This is one of our favourite restaurants in Mittagong, always our pit stop for a coffee, cakes or hot meals. They have both indoor and outdoor seating area. Lovely staff!

We stopped here en route from Sydney to Canberra based purely on the assumption that with a name that good, the cafe must be good too. We weren't disappointed. The coffee is good, the food is delicious, the welcome is warm and the service is top notch. Lovely spacious interior and some seating outside too.

Duck Curry - smashing!

We drove from the Blue Mountains to have Mother's Day lunch here and we were not disappointed. From the moment we walked in the staff were very accommodating to our seating needs, finding extra chairs after we miscounted our party size. The food was beautiful and well paired You can see that the chef carefully choses produce and takes pride in his creations. The chef also offered and made a meal not on the menu for one of us. We think the Shaggy Cow was the perfect place to spoil our mum .

This is a great stopover for those driving down towards Goulburn or Canberra, or anywhere in the area. They have excellent food that is value for money, great customer service, and as an added bonus, clean and well-maintained restrooms.

My partner and I didn't know about this place until we drove past it as we were just planning on stopping over the nearby Macca's. When I saw that the place was brimming with people, I convinced my partner to do our stop over there instead, and we were both glad that we did. We were still full from our brunch that day, so we decided to just come back the following day for breakfast. I had the eggs on toast with mushrooms, sausages, and halloumi on the side, while he had the rolled omelette. They were both delicious, but unfortunately, I could only take a photo of what I ate.

The only complaint I have is that the coffee could do a little more work, but it wasn't awful.

We'd definitely go back the next time we have a road trip.

Friendly service, great food. Burst of flavour from the croquette. Pull apart beef shin in beautiful sauce. Tender and flavoursome chicken. "Lunch is a success!" says my son. I think so too.
