Hotel Pension Grimus

Very friendly & helpful staffs, especially Aira, the reception counter, and the restaurant crews who handled our breakfast ^^

And, if you happen to be nearby there in the evening, try their cocktail - The Fresh Gin - by their bartender Ivory. Its smooth and rejuvenating! :)

Our room 12 was clean, we get to see sun rise from our balcony ^^ Though the bunker bit noisy whenever we moved on either beds.

Unsure why this place is a ‘3 star’, we recently stayed and absolutely ADORED it!
The customer service in the hotel, restaurant and ski hire underneath was amazing! You could ski back to the chalet if you wanted! The rooms are fresh and cosy and the spa bath in the bathrooms really make it at the end of a day on the slopes!
It’s close to everything you need and we really enjoyed our stay! Would highly recommend!

Staff were friendly and everything was up to standard! Rental store is connected and equipment is clean and well fitted. The ski storage rooms were adequate and everything is conveniently located (you can ski in and out of the hotel!) 10/10 would stay again.

P.S - Shout out to D O G, best dog ever!

The management of Pension Grimus have been been exceptionally helpful, considerate and reasonable in dealing with a last minute booking change. A pleasure to deal with and reflective of their spirit of hospitality.

Overall it was a great experience staying over. Very clean rooms, and good food. I think their staff in the ski gear hiring can improve their communication skills though. They are not patient specially to beginners. I felt like they didn't even listen to what I wanted to say. They just want to service as fast as possible. In fact, if I wanted to recommend something that could be improved is staff hospitality. Also, quite strange that the bar and restaurant is only open for breakfast and then only after 4pm.

What an amazing location, crew and set of facilities. Everything you need under one roof. A taste of Europe a few hours drive from Melbourne and the best experience you could ask for on the mountain. Thank you for such a pleasurable experience can’t wait to be back next time! Ps don’t forget to try the desert at the restaurant - yummy!!

Pension Grimus is a perfectly located hotel at Mt Buller. The hotel is meters away from the Mercedes Benz chair lift and from the ski school/ticket office. This convenience is enhanced by the fact that the hotel contains ski lockers and a drying room. Additionally, you can hire ski equipment from the Grimus Ski Centre on the ground floor at reasonable prices (including at a discount for those staying at the hotel). The convenience is amazing.

The actual hotel is beautifully decorated and transports you to Austria. The restaurant, while pricey and has limited options, provides great food - the eye fillet was one of the best I've ever had. Rooms are spacious and comfortable.

My only gripe is how hot it is in the hotel common areas. It is way too hot. This may have been an issue over just the opening weekend and certainly doesn't detract from the overall experience.

The location of this hotel is gold, skip the crowd and start straight from the Ski school chair lift where there is often nicer, with less people even during school holidays
I didn't stay here, only had a quick coffee and croissants between rides.

We love staying at Pension Grimus with our friends for the annual snow trip. Hans Grimus is an icon of the mountain, and together with Lotte they are the consummate hosts. Restaurant meals are delicious, and nights in the bar are always memorable. Watch out for Johnny 'golden tonsils' Allen, a regular on the Saturday night scene. Accommodations are very comfortable, and couldn't really be any closer to the action on Bourke St. (Hot tip - get in early with reception to secure yourself a discount lift pass for the day)

We had dinner at the Kalyan's restaurant. The roast pork knuckle was delicious, easily enough for 3. I did feel that I should have ordered a side of some vegetable. The souffle desert was delicious.

Really good place to stay, clean rooms and good service. No complaints.

Great food and extensive wine list. The vintage 2013 Fox Creek was a cracker! Harmonised perfectly with the dishes served.

Nice Staff. Easy ski hire. Warm room.

I don’t often write reviews even though my business depend on them!

We are a couple from Thailand and working in the tourism business so we have limited times of the year to get away, with skiing high on the list we chose Australia, Mt Buller. After searching around I chose Pension Grimus for 6 nights, and from past experiences of booking on line this was by far the best choice I’ve made in years!!
Our plans where to fly in to Melbourne (no Australians found there) then on to Mt Buller in the rental car, then up to Sydney (hardly any Australians there too)
Fly out to Thailand.
The plan started ok in Melbourne but it felt like we were in a colder Bangkok, spot the Aussie was hard with all the Chinese etc, then we drove up to Mt Buller with some great country views for us first timers to G’day land.
Arrived at Pension Grimus and checked in to balcony spa room 8, just as the pictures were which is also a rare internet find, clean and very comfortable.

I had pre-booked ski hire and clothing with the hotel in advance so this was the first thing to get arranged after a sneaky beer, Carlton Draft was my beer for the stay.
Met Anton and the staff in the ski shop, sorry can’t remember all the names, and were surprised with all the brand new gear we were given, my jacket and pants still had the labels in them skis were new, everything was. Everyone could not have been more helpful with us getting fitted out.

Now the main point to my review.
The weather was pants and kept raining so I took a gamble and asked Lottie if we could possibly leave early and get our Sydney bit done and come back, this was the best when Lottie agreed with no fuss or extra charge, same with the hire shop. Off we went to Sydney, that’s another story getting there and back but..
Upon return we were upgraded free to Aspen Apartment #28, this was the highlight of our holiday, it was so nice to be back anyway and with the super comfy bed we were extremely grateful. We did in fact stay an extra couple of nights and would have stayed longer if we could, by then it felt like home.

Anton helped us out with arranging a helicopter for the day to visit some of the famous spots around the area, Craig’s Hut etc he even gave me his Camara to take the aerial shots of the hotel. Anton how about some copy’s to my email???

To all the staff from Lottie (owner) Anton (son) Tim (bar man) JohnO and the others who I’m sorry not to remember. A big thank you to you all and we will one day be back.

We highly recommend Pension Grimus to anyone thinking of visiting My Buller.

Wow! What a bunch of nice people, from the coffee window, to the ski shop, cheery breakfast, gorgeous dinner, clean and spacious rooms. If only I could learn how to ski it would be perfect!

Amazing apartments! Definitely good for any group or family. Their restaurant is also amazing

5 Star Amazing Atmosphere Superbly Presented European Style with extensive Wine & Cocktail list with Wonderful Bar & Restaurant

Probably the most convenient accommodation for skiers. They have a very cosy interior, history, and yummy food at their in-house restaurant!

Very good lodgings. Super close to the action. Great food. Great wine. Great sauna.

Went for drinks and the service was nice. Friendly people and cool atmosphere
