Charming renovated late 20th century houseboat on a mirror lake under a watercolour sunrise? Yes please! Why buy that UK air ticket when you can have a dreamy Lakeland or Scottish loch experience in the stunning Myall Lakes far from the madding crowds? Dallas and Mel are cheerful, competent and helpful. The houseboat, Leo, was snug, well set up, clean and easy to manage. There’s even a steaming hot shower after a cold plunge in the lake. Perfect autumn/winter getaway for bird watching, fishing, bushwalking and simply messing about in boats.

Excellent Experience. Myall Lakes are a great place to get lost for a few days. The houseboat had everything we needed to have a great time. The team at Getaway have thought of everything. Even the shower was literally better than our shower at home. full size fridge/BBQ/TV. You can bluetooth to the sound system and play throughout the boat. The kids loved loved loved jumping off the boat and had a wonderful time. I can't say enough about this type of holiday. Great value for a family holiday. Dallas and Mel were a pleasure because they are so relaxed and calm. Everything was organized like they have done it 1000 times.

The perfect getaway.

A sincere thank you to Sandra and Chris for their professional and attentive service. It was just so easy to book, drive there, get the instructions on how to operate the houseboat and get going on our escape. They have a tried and true system to get you going safely and informed and you really appreciate the care as a first-time "houseboater".
We took the 33, which was just perfect for a couple.
It was a lovely introduction to Myall Lakes National Park, meandering down Myall River - calm and serene - and then out onto Bombah Broadwater. We found a sheltered, sandy bay, facing west to spend the night (recommended by Chris) . We enjoyed fishing for our dinner and it didn't take long to have a beautiful flathead for the BBQ. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner on the top deck whilst the sun set.
The lake system is perfect for swimming with many areas comfortably shallow enough to touch the bottom. Even in "peak season" we found many secluded bays to be by ourselves.
The wildlife is abundant, and the swans and ducks are there to accompany you wherever you stop.
We spent the second night on the top deck under the stars. With no light pollution to spoil the view, we could see every star.
When we stepped off the boat, we left fully relaxed and re-charged and I can only recommend that more couples and families experience this type of getaway.
We look forward to coming back and enjoying another adventure soon.

We had a ball with a week on one of the 45-foot houseboats. The ultimate in relaxation for a week and the kids had a ball — beautiful, safe sandy beaches at Mungo Brush and Shelley Beach. We loved the rainforest walk at Mungo seeing fruit bats, a dingo and water dragon.

The boats are well maintained, and the electric anchor winch makes anchoring as easy as parking a car.

The lake is quite brackish right to the top of the system. We caught fish, mainly bream, in several spots.

The boats are spacious and have everything, including a full-size shower. They're a lot more 'house' than 'boat'.

The wife and I decided it was time to throw off the shackles of City life and get the kids off their ipods, iPhones and ipads for a few days so we jumped in the car and took a leisurely 2 hour drive north to Bulahdelah to start our Luxury Houseboat experience...

What an experience it was! From Sandra meeting us at the dock to Chris running us through a well thought out and thorough safety brief and before we knew it we were on the water aboard “Aries” a well equipped, clean, safe 33 foot houseboat. This Houseboat had everything you could ask for without being over complicated or hard to operate.

We meandered along the upper Myall River spotting all kinds of unique birds including large Black swans, eagles and ducks, the kids instantly put their phones down and ran to the front deck to watch nature in action.

After 3 unforgettable days exploring all the little bays and remote beaches, BBQ’s on the back deck, swimming in the safe waters of Myall Lake our time on “Aries” went by way too quick and we were back in City! But mark my words we will be back...

Again thanks to Sandra and Chris, we will see you again in the near future!

We had a super time for a week over summer on one of the Myall Lakes Getaway Houseboats! The Myall Lakes are beautiful with fresh water and so much to do and explore, but also a beautiful natural place to rest and recharge. The boat was very clean, comfortable, well-equipped and spacious. A fun and refreshing holiday for kids and adults alike. Thanks so much for all of your great service and care Dallas and Mel!

Had our honeymoon on 'Pisces' houseboat. We had a wonderful time. So peaceful and tranquil. Fishing, bbqing and just enjoying our time away. A journey down the Buladelah River in your houseboat takes you and your friends/family to the unspoilt beauty of the Myall Lake system, bounded by the protection of a National Park. My memories include watching sunrises and sunsets with lots of swans and other birdlife, crystal clear waters to swim in over clean white sands, reed-edged paper-bark forests and general peace & quiet on calm days. Living this life from the comfort of these houseboats is the icing on the cake. Thanks Chris and Sandra for running such a top quality business and looking after everybody. I have to say I have 'loved it - 5 stars" every time I have been on the houseboats!

Beautiful location ,great scenery

Hired a 33ft houseboat for 4 nights. Had an amazing & relaxing time as a family (2 young kids). Chris & Sandra were a pleasure to deal with - would hire again in a heartbeat!

Great location, and a fabulous experience

These are real boats, not a shed on a pontoon. Fitted out with proper nautical finishes. Very good sailing and very spacious. We will be going on more house boating holidays.
