Good Gilbert

We'd last visited during this year's Fringe and had 75min before a 6pm film at the Capri. We scored an outside table in the sun and were soon enjoying drinks, then 3 share plates - School Prawns, Brussel Sprouts (fried , with goat's curd, pepitas, chilli, mint $20) and Sirloin (with jerusalem artichoke crisps and chimichurri $39)

The food was fabulous and wine by the glass and beer were well priced!

This was just voted to be AUSTRALIA’S BEST WINE BAR. They got all the bangers @reasonable prices.
People are nice. Very nice. And young. And hip. And diverse.
If you are from the States: early Williamsburg vibes.
Food is so good they gonna open up a restaurant right next to it.
Wilson is a genius. And his wife Izzy, too.

Even though we are the other side of town we consider this our local. Good Gilbert is proof that it’s worth the travel. From the glorious food to the wonderfully extensive wine list everything is a deeply satisfying experience. Exceptionally priced for what’s on offer and the staff and owners are incredible.

Dinner at @goodgilbert.adl: a couple of months ago they opened the restaurant section of their bar, and we've been meaning to try it out. The food is great, the service is super friendly, and the drinks menu is very extensive! Great place to visit for a good time 🙂🙂🙂.

Vegemite gougere: great little bite sized snacks! The flavours were super delicious 🤤🤤🤤. The Vegemite flavour was not overpowering, and worked very well!

Smoked duck ham, mandarin oil: very nice smokey flavours!

Steak, cheese & onion tartare: this was soooooo good! The tartare was absolutely perfection 😋🤤😍.

Great southern 250gm flank: excellent steak! Perfectly cooked. Great seasoning and sauce 😍.

Daily fish (this day's fish is similar to snapper), cherry tomato fumet: the skin was super crispy, and the fish was very tender and juicy. Very nicely done 😍.

Alba white lamb, carrot buerre noisette: good tender lamb meat. Can't complain!

Kestrel potatoes in meat sauce, grana padano: of course you can't go wrong with potatoes 🙂.

Cucumber, yuzu sesame, kosho dressing: excellent side dish. Nice and refreshing 🙂.

Wattleseed beignet, whey caramel: I really enjoyed this dessert!! The beignet was so good with the caramel sauce 🤤🤤🤤.

Mango cheek, buttermilk granita: very simple dessert. It tasted very good but it is literally half a mango with granita on top 😜.

I have eaten here a few times in the last year and cannot rate the quality of service and food highly enough. The staff are super well informed and knowledgable, they know what the menu items are like and can help making decisions about what to order. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious and the wine list is extensive but easy to find what one wants. I love that this place is open in Goodwood and it has such a great and fun vibe, am salivating as looking forward to visiting again soon! Well done to all involved, fabulous venue. Go see for yourself, you won't be sorry!

Really great venue, my guest Emma Hack had one of her dogs & she was made welcome with treats . Fantastic selection of wines & a modest corkage charge, I brought a bottle of Apricity my 2016 Shiraz.

Honestly delicious food. A hidden gem, I highly recommend coming in for dinner or a drink. Amazing wine list and delicious menu. Also wonderful staff with great music and vibes/ interior! A new fav

A wide selection of wines served in excellent 🍷, the staff at sommelier level can give you excellent recommendations that make you taste quite new white and red wines.
You are next to one of the best theatres in town, the Capri, so before or after the cinema it is an excellent choice.

Very nice little boutique wine bar right next to the Capri Cinema. This is run by a great, very experienced group of young staff of wonderful, warm people. This place has a crazy, extensive wine list that I have never seen so much wine choice before! ; and some lively cheese platters plus much more. The Cheese Platters and Red Wine are my favourite! Can take away your faves as well. That's pretty cool. Reasonable value for money and a very cosy venue b4 and after your Capri Cinema enjoyment. Please try it! ☺

Great neighborhood wine bar. Cool setting, really nice having the windows/doors open and watching the world go by. Extensive wine list, decent range of beers and awesome food options for shared snacks. Adelaide needs more like this.

Absolutely sensational venue! Vibrant, warm and hospitable hosts, fresh and tasty eats, inventive AND super delicious beverage menu! Highly recommended.

Popular bar along south of CBD. Pricey but worth it for the food and drinks. Ideal place for a Friday/Saturday night if not wanting to go into CBD for a night out.

Impeccable wine list and sensational food. GG is the perfect place for a lil drink and snack, or a full blown meal. Wonderful service, approachable and without ego. Love it here.

We had a really good Feed Me dinner here. I would highly recommend the broccoli dish.

What a beautiful start to our Valentines Day. The service, food and wine list at this place is absolutely divine. You can tell that all the staff and Chef love what they do. Goodwood is so fortunate to have a place like this. We loved it so much we have booked in for dinner next Friday night.

Will definitely go back, really liked the atmosphere and staff, and the wine we chose was delicious. Recommend supporting this local venue.
