Sakae Japanese Dining Bar

My go-to place whenever I crave Japanese food. Their fresh sashimi deluxe and BBQ teriyaki calamari are my all time favourite. Warm welcome service and cozy atmosphere.

I have been going to this restaurant since 2003 and the menu is consistently good. They often have special deals based on the time of year. The bbq teriyaki squid, served warm is exquisite. The sashimi is always good, but freshest mid week. If you order a main, check the menu for extra items you can add for a discounted price. I often get the udon noodle soup, with either karaage chicken or pork katsu, plus 5 slices of succulent salmon belly sashimi on the side.

This restaurant has been renovated to include QR code ordering, which works very well. The menu has more bento choices and lunch time specials, and the bbq teriyaki squid is even more delicious than before. Gobo chips were delicious, haven't seen them before.

I love Sakae's renovated look plus the revamped up menu! This is a small but nice restaurant with high quality Japanese food. The pricing is pretty good as well and you can expect to spend $15-$25 per person depending on how much you eat.

Overall, the food is delicious and is definitely worth trying. The service is wonderful as well.

We had a wonderful experience. Food was amazing and high quality. Ginger was fresh as well as the best miso soup ever. I thoroughly enjoyed the curry which wasn't too spicy but just right. Service was prompt and a pleasant setting, highly recommended. Price was right as well. We usually pay more at other restaurants but the taste isn't as good as here.

Sakae has been around for a while and they managed to keep a good standard of food! The sushi and sashimi are always fresh, and the other dishes are always fresh and tasty too!

I used to live in Japan and a lot of the menu range here is 7-9/10 authentic and absolutely delicious! Pretty much as good as you can get in Sydney without shelling out in the eastern suburbs.

Small Japanese restaurant on main Eastwood shopping Strip opposite Subway. Not a sit at sushi bar or train. Normal dining/takeaway restaurant Korean run not 100% authentic Japanese , but food is decent for price especially the lunch special for around $15 you can't go wrong. Ingredients are fresh, havn't had any bad dishes so far, I recommend this place if your after a reasonably priced, decent japanese inspired meal.

Friendly staff with tasty food. Portions are good size also. The have lunch combo and bento combos. And business lunch combo during the week.

Always a fantastic experience here. Friendly staff, great tasting food, acceptable price.

Usual go-to would be the katsu curry. The flavour is amazing and the temperature is just right. The sushi options are also pretty good. There is a mark-up on some of the current prices though, due to shortages.

I'm a frequent customer of their take-away deluxe bento, though they have increased the price over the years, it is hard to blame with inflation and their quality is top-notch every-time I get the bento which is amazing. The takeaway is ready quickly (often 10 minutes) and is of great value as it comes with a mini udon (which I prefer over rice).

We had a very delicious dinner, we loved all the food, it was hot and tasty !! The service was fast&friendly. Really relaxing atmosphere. Thanks so much.

Great Sashimi! Enjoyed the Koebi Karage. Ramen was not impressive but still ok.
