Pennyroyal Otways Retreat

We had a fantastic family holiday - for close to 30 family members.

The cottages are rustic but brilliantly decked out with everything you need for large groups. There was seating for everyone in the main farmhouse, a cosy warm fire, space for the dogs, gorgeous views and those who slept in the other cottages reported a good stay.

The kids enjoyed playing around the fire, the abundance of boardgames and the table-tennis and foosball table up at the barn. The lake, alpacas and wildlife are great too.

My favorite getaway while I was traveling in Australia! Stunning cottages in one of Australia’s most spectacular nature. Super comfortable and clean cottage in the pennyroyal valley. The property is so beautiful ... alpacas roaming freely, you can go down to the lake and have a peaceful moment watching them. Birdlife is stunning with lots of parrots. Thank you again Sara for being so helpful during our stay! Wonderful service!!

A lazy weekend away at Pennyroyal Otways Retreat with a few mates was exactly what we needed. We had privacy, everything we needed in The Forest Cottage and a beautiful fire going for us when we arrived. Cant wait to do it again next year. Will bring the dog next time - thats a bonus !

stunning place in a quiet, uninterrupted place. Highly recommend bringing a good camera, tripod and/or a drone to capture the beautiful valley.

What a delightful place with stunning views, I performed a wedding and were greeted by alpaca whilst setting up in the sweetest spot for the ceremony.

Loved the forest retreat, full commercial kitchen for big groups, well maintained bunk rooms, helpful owners.

Pennyroyal Otways Retreat looks amazing, family friendly beautiful property and a great location, central to many of the Otways fantastic places and activities.

Really enjoyed my time here with the family, very relaxing and beautiful area.

Gorgeous location in the bush. The kitchen was well equipped with cutlery crockery, utensils and appliances, but the house, whilst spacious, had a few issues and is warm and welcoming, but also rather tired. Aircon didn't actually cool, only blowning air, lots of holes in the fly screens, beds had doonas but no sheets, making it too hot to sleep in the middle of summer. Everyone had fun in the end though, and the short walk to see the alpacas is very pleasant.

Difficult process with booking. They first rejected my booking due to ‘too many dogs’. When asked how much we could bring, there was no reply. I tried to make another request to get the host’s attention. Of course, there was no reply. Meanwhile, we have tried to call multiple times just to find out that someone else already booked this morning because she was on hold for 2 weeks. Very poor communication and I felt cheated/ unwelcome.
