I recently had the pleasure of renting a canoe and kayak from Paestan Canoe Hire for a 4-day adventure, and I can't express enough how fantastic the experience was. Ali, Ben, and Jimmy, ensured our trip was seamless and enjoyable from start to finish.

From the moment we arrived, the professionalism and friendliness of the staff were evident. They provided us with equipment, including barrels and dry bags, ensuring that our belongings stayed dry throughout the journey. The convenience of leaving our car on their property and spending the first night there added an extra layer of comfort to the overall experience.

The entire experience with Paestan Canoe Hire exceeded my expectations. The owners and their team not only provided excellent service but also created a warm and welcoming environment that made our canoe and kayak trip unforgettable. Alli went above and beyond in helping me organise a significant birthday for my mum. Her communication with me, a canoe novice, was the best. And she made time in her busy schedule to fit my family and I in, for our canoe trip. She explained really well how to make this special trip work, and on the day when we met, she was a delight to be guided and set up by. Affordable and a wonderful service in an extremely beautiful part of the world. Cannot recommend more highly enough. Will 100 percent be back. Thanks Alli, and all at Paestan Canoe for making some memories my family will never forget.

Fantastic experience - Ally really looked after us. For our trip she provided a map, camping chairs and even firewood to use at each canoe campsite. Remember to bring marshmallows and a bottle of red (or two). She knows the area like the back of her hand, provides handy tips on getting mobile reception, water temperature, wind direction; it was very reasurring knowing if you needed help, that she would be able to respond. Love to go again, and maybe try going upstream.

We had an incredible time canoeing the Lower Glenelg River much thanks to Ali at Paestan’s. From the moment we contacted Ali before the trip to working out logistics during the trip for pick-ups and drop-offs, Ali was amazing with her quick responses, detail + intel on paddling the river, and big smile. Our family of 4 had an excellent experience hiring canoes, barrels and life jackets for a 4 day trip on Bocara (Lower Glenelg River) from Alicia and Ben at Paestan Canoe Hire. They were so friendly, helpful and happy to sort out any requests and went above and beyond in their service. Thanks for an amazing family holiday, we will be back.

If you’re thinking of booking with them, do it. There’s free accommodation the night before either camping at their site or in the bunkhouse. They have showers, toilets and cooking facilities available. Thanks again Ali, you’re a legend.

It's rare for me to write an online review, but every now and then a business comes along and impresses the hell out of you.

My Dad and I had had a camping/canoeing trip down the Glenelg River on our bucket list for a few years, and having decided to finally get it done, we booked canoe hire with Russ and Marg.

From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel comfortable with a very friendly welcome. We arrived late in the day, set to begin our trip the next morning, and were provided with bunk-house lodgings at no extra cost.

After a good night's sleep, Marg and Ross gave us a few hints and tips and dropped us off at the river at 9am the next morning, our camping gear and food safely stowed in the provided waterproof barrels, and off we paddled, spending four days in the beautiful surrounds of the Glenelg River and the Lower Glenelg National Park.

We were met in Nelson 4 days later, Russ and Marg even offering to bring my car to the river to save us doubling back for our next night of car camping.

Dad and I have both spent quite a bit of time traveling and seeing the great outdoors, both here in Oz and overseas, and we know how much friendly faces and great customer service add to any experience. Thanks Marg, and thanks Russ - you'll definitely be seeing us again, probably with more family and friends in tow! :)

Ross and Marg are absolutely wonderful. They went above and beyond to make sure our group had the best time. The kayaks and equipment they provide are spotless, and easy to use, even for beginners. We will definitely be back for another cruise down the gorgeous Glenelg.

We had an amazing paddle down the Glenelg River after New Year. Alli was super professional and even though it was the peak season she had time to give good advice about the logistics, the river and to prepare us for our paddling experience.

We hired a 3 person canoe to fit our 5 year old. Paestan gave us 3 barrels for all our gear, they made sure we had everything we would need. Jimmy, drove us to the river and helped us get on our way and was a font of knowledge and good company.

Their base is also to a very high standard. We didn't stay the night before as we didn't know what to expect. If it works for you to camp the night before you paddle, I would recommend it. There is plenty of grass and clean facilities. It looks like there was glamping and a bunkroom, although I didn't check it out.

But the highlight was the river. It is peaceful, quiet, and chocked full of birds and wildlife. A Koala walked through our camp and stepped on my thongs just a meter from me. The canoe only campsites are stunning and a swim at the end of the day after a paddle is cleansing. Fantastic!

We had the best weekend in a thousand years. Ali is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, professional, fun, efficient, caring, relaxed and certainly walks the extra mile. This little 5'3" packet of dynamite runs an extremely smooth business. Thank you so very much!

With excellent safety instructions/demonstations on the day of hire.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hire company to anyone wanting a fun and safe canoeing experience.

Ali gave us a fantastic experience, accommodating our group for a half-day canoeing adventure at short notice. She arranged pick up and drop off from our accommodation, provided great equipment and a super-friendly service. Amazing value. Highly recommended!

Perfect service, Alicia and Ben were both brilliant in helping us plan out our 3 day kayaking + canoe trip. They answered all our annoying questions in the lead-up patiently, are both incredibly lovely and chill people, and were really helpful before, during, and after the trip. Alicia even made the trip out to check on us one night at camp when high winds were forecast, 1000% above and beyond the call of duty.

What a lovely experience we had with the Paestan canoe hire crew! Ali and Ben have just taken over the business and they run a smooth and tight ship. They were very responsive to our enquiries prior to arriving. Staying in the cabin the night before the trip was excellent, the place has everything basic that you need to get into the camping mood.
Everything is fantastically organised, the staff are clear on any instructions and timing and provide good advice about packing the kayaks, how to do it etc etc.
We are so grateful for the fantastic care-free time we had, knowing these guys had our back. Ali even came to find us at one of our camps one night to warn us about the ominous incoming weather and offered alternative pick up places in case we got stuck. I can't say enough about their friendliness!

I would definitely recommend going on a trip through this company.

Ross and Marg run a fantastic outfit down in Paestan. They catered for my entire group of about 17 people and managed to sort us out with a variety of kayaks and canoes, and pickup and dropoff. They were both extremely genial and pleasant to deal with, and fielded multiple questions of mine in the weeks leading up to the trip. They honestly went above and beyond to make our 3 day / 2 night expedition memorable, and I highly recommend anyone reading this review to go ahead and book a trip with them!
