Project 281 Coffee Roasters

Was a lovely experience on a really busy Saturday morning. The staff were friendly & welcoming. The service was so surprisingly quick for such a busy day! Plus I adore the vibe & atmosphere, the open kitchen is so cool! The food has a lovely twist on traditional brunch meals. Never thought of mango with smashed avo but it was lovely.

Went in for weekend brunch and we got table pretty easy. We ordered few varieties and really enjoyed what we had. Chicken and waffles, coffee, and some appetiser. I personally love the ambient of this place as it has high ceiling and it's not too noisy to a point you had to be screaming to have a good conversation. Will definitely come back for more brunch.

Stopped by for lunch earlier in the week and was blown away by how good the food was. I haven’t been to a cafe this fantastic in such a long time. The food was not only fast, it was fresh and the flavours were on point! I had the vegan Japanese pancakes and my sister had the breakfast burrito. I also enjoyed a smoothie. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was lovely with an industrial but green space feel. Toilets available. Kid friendly venue with baby change table and high chairs. Parking available on street and timed.

Honestly, the nicest place ever. I had the eggs benedict and, it was perfection. The pulled pork was done to a silky perfection. Generous portions.
The smoothie ( mango) was gorgeous and fresh ingredients used and the staff are absolutely lovely. One staff member ( possibly owner- handsome bloke) gave my little boy and on the house hot chocolate and was just an all round lovely individual.
I would recommend this place again and again.

A pretty outstanding experience overall, excellent robust strong coffee - beans all roasted on the premises, smashed avo with a mango combo was delicious and the breakfast burrito was very generous in size. Super friendly atmosphere and plenty on the menu to explore inn more than one visit. Definitely will visit again.

We went there for lunch on Sunday and we were blown away by this place. We looked up online to find a place in Brunswick and this one came up.
The food is amazing, good portions and they can accomodate dietary requirements.
The staff is very nice, even though they are very busy, it never feels like you are in a rush.
The coffee is also great!
If I have to find something to pick on, probably would be the size of the coffe a little bit too small.
But honestly so good! Definitely to put on your list of place to try

the food here is absolutely divine, and perfectly presented - if you have a sweet tooth you have to try the apple crumble french toast option.
I would have preferred my matcha latte to be a little stronger but this wouldn’t stop me from coming back again.

Had a great experience at project 281. Ordered the Eggs Benny and a Mocha and could not fault either of them! Plenty of room also for my pram (and baby change table in the toilets), and service was great they checked in on us a couple of times and were quick to get our orders. Will be back again!

Chicken waffles were quite good. The sauce drizzled on top of the omelet was pretty salty, and the waffles were pretty sweet. They wouldn't taste good by themselves, but together they balance each other out. The waffles weren't that crispy but not soggy either. The fried chicken was good and crunchy.

As for the okonomiyaki, rather than the usual flattened pancake shape, this is more like an okonomiyaki patty. Felt like there was quite a bit of batter but the taste was pretty on point.

BEST BRUNCH I’VE HAD IN MELBOURNE! Seriously blown away by how delicious the Vegan Okonomiyaki was. I’ve never had anything like it. My partner had the vegan burrito which she loved. I also had the Iced Coffee Sphere which was so much fun- and delicious! Menu items are a little bit pricey (cheaper than a lot of places around though)- but definitely worth it- why not treat yourself once in a while!

We arrived and were greeted by the friendly FOH who was able to seat us despite being early for booking. The place is huge without feeling cavernous and had a great loft/warehouse type vibe. We almost ended up ordering "entrees" and "mains"... Everything on the menu looked amazing, it was hard to decide. I had the chicken waffles which were incredible. The coffee was fantastic, and loved the cheeky little cocktail add on. Can't wait to go back.

Great cafe in Brunswick to enjoy breakfast.
The pressed fresh juices are full of flavour, I had the beetroot mixed juice which was delicious. Fresh leaves tea, lemongrass and ginger was the choice I selected, nice to mix with a bit of honey also.
The staff are very friendly and appeared happy to be working their, which is no wonder considering the decor and environment. Such a beautiful design cafe with fresh gardens and leaves all around.
Indoor and outdoor seating available, there is a heater outside for the cold days if you chose to sit outside.
Reasonably price food, standard breakfast/brunch menu prices for melbourne cafes.
Definitely a come back kinda place 👍🏻

Had brunch here the other day and oh my gosh it wad amazing! I had the apple crumble French toast, made to perfection, the custard was delicious and toast was so good. Also, i was obsessed with the apple (dehydrated?) Felt like i was eating a meringue with a beautiful apple flavour.
The only criticism I have was my coffee was not very hot but everything else -amazing!
Very very happy and will definitely go back.

Great brunch spot with nice food at a large and lively venue. Korean chicken burger was tasty with generous portion of chips, the crab okonomiyaki had a great texture and was the crab was well made.

Beautiful way to enjoy coffee with sweets! We had espresso in banana smoothie and mocha. Took a moment to appreciate the plating method. ‘Twas a struggle to concoct my drink (seriously, what monster could ruin that chocolate masterpiece? 😂) but strangely satisfying! The drinks are as delicious as the muffin and marshmallow thingo! Staff’s super friendly. And the space itself-natural light, plants-beautiful! There’s an in-house roaster spot as well! Will be back when in Brunswick! 🤗

Loved it so much, held our engagement party in April 2022 and they did not disappoint!
Service was beyond amazing, all the guests were complimenting all night how attentive the staff were.
Drinks and food selection was so delicious and beautifully presented.
Atmosphere was elegant and inviting for a night time event.
If you haven't seen this place at night definitely give it a go.

Great range of food options. Strongly recommend: Korean chicken waffles, chicken parma, chilli egg scramble & breakfast burrito. Am yet to have a bad meal here - serves good coffee as well

Super cool and tasty.

I was quite surprise about the decor. With the industrial style mixed with greens and super friendly staff, plus (and most important) great coffe/food.

The Tripe hot choc is incredible beautiful and full of taste. If you like chocolate, that’s the right choice to you.

My partner and I had the Octopus Hash and the Crusted Pork. All dishes had something that gives it an unique flavour combination that I’ve never seen before. Tasty tasty and surprising.

Had such a great time here. The staff were so nice and the food was fantastic. I would highly recommend coming if you are in the area. The vibe is chill and the range of different food options is large so there’s definitely something here for everyone. Can’t wait to go back

Best avo smash I’ve ever had. It had mango added which complemented everything so well.
Staff were lovely. Service was quick. Coffee was delicious and the industrial aesthetics was a vibe. Definitely will return.
