YHA Melbourne Central

Love this place. Part way between arrival from Southern Cross & destination across the river. Down the street from Flinders Street station. So convenient for a short stay. Love the ambience of the dining & community spaces downstairs. And $6 buys a can of Coopers at the bar's Happy Hour 6 till 8, cheapest (& best) beer in town.

I stayed for 3 nights and I was amazed they had friendly and accommodating staff. The place is really clean from toilets, bathrooms, rooms and dinning area. Overall, I enjoyed staying in YHA Melbourne.

The rooms are nice with complete shared kitchen facilities. Close access to everywhere, friendly service. Love it.

Excellent location, super clean, quiet, amazing shared place that we could have access to. They organized wide range of activities . Also the private room was perfect for the price.

As young women travelling by ourselves for the first time, my friend and I were cautious about staying in a hostel. Once we arrived at YHA however, we were immediately at ease because of the kind staff and range of activities and shared spaces we had access to. Amazing location right next to a tram stop in the free tram zone, and the private room we shared was perfect for the price. Definitely will stay at YHA again and would recommend to absolutely anyone!

It's around the stations so very convenient to connect to everywhere in Melb.

YHA Melbourne Central is really good, friendly and helpful staff, rooms are great, state of the art kitchen to cook your food, everything is cleaned daily. Close to Flinders st station and the famous crown casino. Heaps of places nearby to get food if you don't feel like cooking. Tram stop right out the front of the premises. This is a great location and would highly recommend staying here if you need somewhere to stay..

Best hostel in Melbourne yet! I've stayed in a few hostels & this has the best laptop working space, spacious rooms, clean & spacious bathrooms & kitchen. Was worried based on negative reviews, but stayed on a Sunday night in August & was fine. No one above me so bed didn't creak either. Only issue was my roommate at 2am convinced reception the lock was broken (it wasn't), & they decided to rubber band it at 2am waking us all up. Aside from that, great service, room 410 female 6 beds was quiet enough (not much train noise). Great location. Top choice. Room a bit old, but didn't bother me.

I stayed there for three days on a wintery part of the year.

Granted Melbourne is dreary and cloudy that part of the year I stayed with the hostel. The weather is more than compensated with some things that make Melbourne truly special: the blend of people that make Melbourne happening.

Great recommendation to food, events and great company. Great location to wherever that matters in Melbourne, in the free tram zone and within walking distance to Spencer Street - actually Southern Cross - Station and trams. Oh, tours are nearby too, so penguins and Twelve Apostles here I come!

If the bathrooms are not that crowded and the rooms not that stale, I will be glad to stay a little longer.

Great location, staff were super friendly (even when I turned up at 1am after flight delays). Clean and warm rooms, super clean bathrooms. Would 100% stay again! Thank you for a comfortable stay :)

Had a private room. Nice and clean. Centrally located so you could walk almost anywhere you needed to go.

Spent a night here and was pleasantly surprised with the quality, cleanliness and how safe I felt as I'd never been to a hostel before and my only real exposure to hostels had been horror movies. The room was clean and sheets were fresh; the bed was very comfortable too. All of the staff I encountered during my stay were super friendly and respectful too. I'd totally recommend YHA to anyone.

Great location (next to the tram and major bus lines).

Price is very hard to beat (no breakfast but location is close to cheap food and good transportation). They also have a huge kitchen with several refrigerators!

Staff is knowledgeable about tours (what's the best value and what to avoid). They're super friendly too :)

Great central spot, only a short walk from the Southern Cross Station. Rooms and bathroom were clean and relatively quiet, not the lowest ambient noise with trams, roads, and light rail just over the road. Kitchen and dining facilities were good and spacious

1.) Staffs are very nice. Definitely not a racist. Most Asians consider this when they visit a foreign country.
2.) Their premium room is so lovely. It is situated on a roof deck. And there are only two premium rooms! I was lucky to wake up alone in the roofdeck waiting for sunrise!
3.) The hostel design is very creative. They have this wonderful murals in some area of the hostel.
4.) Plus, my room has a nespresso coffee maker and I have unlimited coffee and tea!

I would definitely recommend YHA. :)

Best hostel I've been in Melbourne so far! Great chilled out lounging area. Open plan kitchen, super clean, lots of new looking bowls/cutlery etc. Happy, helpful staff.
Rooms are great, fresh and new. Fan in the rooms, but rooms never got too hot. Bunks didn't squeak and easy storage under beds. Quiet even though close to road.
Not too many people, so there's always a chair to sit and chill in, or cook in the kitchen or shower.
Unlimited, ok-speed wifi on ground floor. Breakfast available to buy, but near shops, so can get your own easily.

Couldn't fault it the place. Worth the extra $4/night to other city hostels.

Best YHA I've Stayed in Australia! Friendly and helpful staff. Awesome people I stayed with in June 2020, (good atmosphere, has a bar with good music playing and the design/setting was cool such as the artwork and lights). Shout out to Taz, Matty, Patrick, Justin, Ash, Jelena, Jeff, and the others. Can't wait to stay here again in the future when covid is all over.

Central YHA has a friendly, casual and relaxed atmosphere. It is both clean and comfortable and caters to family's and individuals whether from overseas or local. Central is incredibly well situated within the free tram area, being able to walk to crown, Flinders or Spencer St station. I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.
