Best camping spot in Victoria but tell anyone. Keep it a secret. Free camping, paid power sites and a great little town

This spot places number 1 in all the sites we've experienced. Came here over the Easter period, as it wasn't pouring rain, unlike the rest of the areas in Victoria. Flushing toilets were available, hot showers, running water, and free. Camp firea allowed. Caught our first fish here. Donation site. We didn't donate when we came as we didn't have any cash. But we will double our donation next time we come through. Thank you for having this site available for the public 🥰.

Incredible camp site. Free to stay, dog friendly. Really great atmosphere. Functioning toilets and plenty of walks around.

WOW what a fantastic place, its has everything you need from power and water to a communal meeting place with fire pit, quirky accommodation available for very reasonable cost. Loads of space for ample vans, level sites and loads of fire pits. We are here until lockdown ends and we can get back home. Some caravans seem to not understand if you run your waste water hose to the lake is NOT the correct thing to do! Fantastic effort by the township of Hopetoun THANK YOU

Fabulous Victorian country free camp (donation) or $15 for a powered site. Many spots around the lake to camp & chill out. 15 minute stroll to the small town of Hopetoun

A great place to free camp around the lake with shady spots right next to the water and brilliant sunsets across the lake.
There are several well watered grassy areas with picnic shelters adjacent which are popular and also an amenities block with toilets ( take your own loo roll!) and free hot showers.
There are a small number of powered sites also available on the western side of the lake but these are quite popular so often fill up fast. To be honest, the free sites are better if you don’t need power and are self contained.
There is also another Caravan Park nearby which seemed to have vacancies at the time of my visit.

A really lovely place to stay to camp Rv or caravan. Right on Lake Lacells, you can virtually back up your van a couple of meters to the Lake on the lawned area or further around the Lake in a more shruby area. There are powered sites available, but most seem to use the unpowered/free sites. There are toilet and shower facilities to be used by both powered and unpowered/free visitors, a washing machine to use for a gold coin donation.
There are several walks available
1 around Lake Lascelles its self which is 2.7 km, which is an easy walk and there are several around Lake Coorong, which is dry at the moment and are longer, there is a 4+km, a 6+km and an 11+ km. All are interesting and show off the Murray scrub of the area. There are several cabins available to use all have there own character. There are several that are made of corrugated iron, of different sizes and fully decked out, two silo cabins a more industrial set up and a stone rounded cabin with a nice patio entrance area. All are reasonable priced at between $30'ish a night per couple.

Good facilities. Great camping spot. Either plug in or off the grid. Pretty place to spot for a couple of nights.

Great place to stay for people with large rigs. There are toilets and showers. There are also 10 powered sites and some with water. Parking is available all around the lake.

Awesome camp ground for free camping and some powered sites ,toilets and showers available, some good fishing spots around the lake, dirt roads which would probably be a bit slippery and boggy if it rains 🌧

This was a Beautiful spot, FREE camping, swimming, fishing, boating. It really has everything. Showers & toilets, make sure to bring your own stuff like toilet paper though. Bbq spots available & seating. We arrived & it was so packed but we managed to sneak in a corner, as we had no choice we had to stay. We were travelling with 2 kids & it was late.
Water was soo good, sandy then clay like bottom further you go out the more you sink into it but we had a really awesome time & will definitely be back 😍

We love coming here. Amenities are great. Especially ones near powered sites. Weather wasn't great for us this time though.
After rain ground can get very slippery and muddy. Especially around back of Lake but manageable

Limited power sites but plenty of non power sites to choose from all around the lake. Toilets, showers and rubbish bins near powered sites, beautiful views of lake and plentiful bird life.

Fantastic bush camping spot. Magnificent lake and great bush walks both around Lake Lascelles and Lake Corryong.

We love this place has plenty of free camping and limited power sites $20 p/n (first in best dressed), also has cabin type accommodation $30 p/n. Easy walk into town. Site is cared for by volunteers and kept in excellent condition. Has flushing toilets and showers. Swimming, boating and fishing in lake. We used it as base camp for silo trail and would recommend it to anyone looking for a laid back camping area.

Great location and great value cabins and camping ground right on the lake. Very dog friendly
