Tom Prior Ford Museum

Heaven for automobile fans. And it's in the middle of nowhere. You have to drive here 2,5h from Cairns through the rainforest and semi-outback. But is worth it. This is the main attraction of Chillagoe, not the caves. Credit for Tom for showing us all of the cars, he started them and told short story about them. He is true passionate. Recommend

Tom is a living, breathing, talking Ford encyclopaedia. The books, magazines, manuals, memorabilia, signs, etc, etc, etc.
Taking a look through his museum/ collection is a personal guided tour. He is a little hard to understand, but don't let that deter you from making the time to talk to Tom and this collection.
Military vehicles, trucks, utes, sedans, a Shelby Mustang, XW GT, engines and more.
Excellent.

This is a very special place run by a legendary bloke. Great collection. Could spend hours there.

Meeting Tom and seeing his cars was honestly a once in a lifetime experience for my partner and I. Tom is a local legend and we felt privileged to be able to hear the stories behind the card and hear him start them up. They certainly don't make cars like they used to! If you're in Chillagoe, make sure you spend an hour or two here and get to know Tom and his amazing collection!

I was lucky and received a private tour with Tom, who must be 80 plus. He knows all the vehicles he has and can tell a story about every one of them. Call before going to check that it is open. I spent more than 3 hours with Tom and his cars. What a character. I left with a lot of respect for this man and his collection of vehicles.

My husband and I visited a few years ago and Tom was a wonderful source of info. He had a running motor on the bench which he had rebuilt himself, a ?GTHO FALCON in temp control, a beautifully restored old truck which he preferred driving than his current car. The Mustang was my Achilles heel and I have always loved them since they were made when I was a kid. He let me sit in it and rev it, which was a thrill. Then he said "give it some", got in it himself and revved it. Without a word of a lie, the hair stood up on my arms and I felt that vibration to my core. Still can't afford one, (haven't won lotto yet😌)but Tom gave me a wonderful memory. Here's hoping that he is still going strong and giving others great memories too.

Amazing place. Tom started up 1942 ford truck. So quiet. Just purrs. Also started a number of other cars and trucks, all purred. A real credit to Tom.

ran my esky dry looking at the marvels Tom had here and what marvel Tom is. Wife got bored.....but who cares had Tom to talk to. Just loved it.. very jealous.

Have known old Tom for many many years he has an original collection and the best part about it is he owned and worked a lot of the trucks and cars from new and each one has it's own story and if you can understand him his history is priceless hope you get time to right your book mate 😭 your ledgen

Well worth a look, Toms a great bloke that has devoted a lot of time to fords with flat head V8s. Dont go between 12 to 3 as hes resting.
