TEACHERS FEEDBACK FROM CAMP
Illawonga was a highly active and social camp experience. The location was stunning, facilities clean and the atmosphere was relaxed. All activites were 'hands on', and students were able to learn more about the River Murray Ecology and Flora/fauna. Admin responsibilities were made easy for staff to follow and the camp was good value. All staff were welcoming and related very well with the students. from Simon at Hahndorf Primary School

As a student coming to this camp last year it was amazing. The only downside was the bland and strangely soggy food but, if you can look pass that it was an amazing camp that I think anyone could enjoy.

Activities were fun and food was good. The look wasn't the best though. But everything else was great.

My daughter attended camp here a couple weeks ago. She enjoyed the activities and had a good time but the rooms stank, the beds were very uncomfortable and the food was atrocious. No only was the food bland, but kids were also served lasagne with plastic sheets in it. She did say that most of the staff were nice and when they were welcomed to the camp, staff raved about their highly rated chef but every meal just got worse and worse... she was traumatised by the potatoes, the home made baked beans and even the icecream was awful. She is a pretty good eater and will give most things a go, yet she was half starved following the 3 day camp because the meals were mostly inedible.

This has the potential to be an exceptional camp but it definitely still a needs a bit more work on updating the accomodation and much better food.

I went here in 2021 when I was in year 7. the pool table in the rec room was on wheels so the pool balls will move around the table. the gym was practically falling apart and the perished foam gave me the black lung. there was an old dog there though who walked after his ball instead of running after it, so that was a plus.

As a student coming to Illawonga, the activities were amazing! The food and accommodation could have been done much better though.

Activities were fun, but the food was bad, i barley ate there. Also, some of the top beds didn't have backings and I had anxiety of falling backwards. The instructors were nice and interacted with us students

Really didn't like it being a student. The teachers felt annoying up them self. The food was pretty bad I barely ate anything. Definitely don't recommend it there is better camps out there.

This place was appalling! The food was terrible, the staff were awful, demanding and up them selves. The place and dorms stunk like dog water. The gym smelt like mold and everything was falling apart, and crusty. The “food” was dry, foul and feral. The spaghetti bolognaise was dreadful, a creamy white sauce that tasted like nothing and minced meat to top it off. Wth. Made us climb through a cave, squeezing into tiny holes and tunnels was petrifying. The foam in the gym was rotting away and gave me smokers lungs. This place is shameful, do not go to this place!! Unless u want food poisoning and lung cancer. Waste of money don’t go!

Where do I start…..
The place was appalling and STANKY! The gym was filled with black mole so much so that i think it put physical mold in my lungs. Now the “food”, the food was by far the most disgusting thing I’ve ever tasted in my ENTIRE life, it was treacherous and extremely bland. I honestly think that it gave me food poising for a good year, I couldn’t eat any ice cream, jelly, or spag bowl for 18 months without felling like I would throw up due to the tastes that still lingers around in my mouth to this day!
Now don’t even get me started on the activity’s, like come on! Who decided that sending a bunch of year 6’s into a dark cave would be a good idea, and on top of that telling them that there are spiders and bats and all sorts of creepy crawlys’s in the cave, I mean you don’t know if anyone is scared of those animals like someone could have arachnophobia or be absolutely terrified of bugs and yet we had to turn off our torches for a bit of a “challenge”. This wasn’t it, the workers then made us crawl in tiny spaces which gave me a lot of claustrophobia and I’m still claustrophobic currently.
Now to the workers they were actually quite nice but when it came to activities they weren’t so nice at least the ones I had weren’t.
Now to the gymnastics gym, the foam pit was dirty, gross and put stuff in my eyes, and the foam blocks smelt.
The karaoke where should I begin with that, we were made to do karaoke and sing I front of everybody.

Just so you know, this happened when I was in primary school. I am now in high school and have been for a while. This place still HAUNTS me!

I didn't like this place at all as a year 5 this was pretty bad the activities to so long to organise and they weren't that good and the food place stank
