How do I not know this place??!! If you are looking for a cool spot with great food with pages of whiskey and sake.. this is the place. Slightly hidden from the main road. Whenever I look at a menu with a handful of varieties only, I know the place is about quality. A long, extensive menu is never appealing to me, personally. Our favourite for the night was the taco, octopus and definitely the curry pan. Yum.. fresh ingredients and flavour that's not overpowering. We celebrated our 4th anniversary at Nodaya, and with Noda sama's immense help, my wife was able to give me the biggest flower surprise at the end of the night when dessert time came. Thank you so very much, Noda sama!!

We had 3 drinks, 1 tea, 2 mains, 6 sides and 2 desserts! The standout dishes were: Mandarin Granita (omg so yum, has ume gulee), Wagyu was exceptionally done, the vegetable hot oil fondue was very interesting with an anchovy sauce base, and you can't go past that crunchy taco with softshell crab as filling.

We tried both the umeshu, and the citris sake. Superb. They have a very wide range of whisky, so if you are a whisky lover, this is the place to go!

Our go-to all-time favourite restaurant when in Sydney. Amazing food, awesome intimate atmosphere and excellent, knowledgeable service. Simply can’t go wrong with anything on the menu of tasting plates. Amazing Sake and Whisky menu to explore, settle in for an evening of treating your tastebuds. Worth every penny!

Stumbled upon this hidden gem very late at night. I absolutely love the vibe and food. The staff is very friendly and easy going.

Nothing quite like this place to enjoy a quiet drink with a friend, partner, or just yourself. Great line of premium whiskey and long wine list to enjoy. The cuisine menu has been designed by a well-known chef and are all simple but exquisite. Owner and staff's hospitality is second to none. I love the general atmosphere as well the whole menu. Slowly but definitely becoming a regular.
For first timers, ask for the whisky tasting selection. Fine price and fine experience. The owner is well versed to give a recommendation as per your preference.

My friends and I had a very relaxing evening here. This was my first time trying Japanese whisky, and based on the recommendation, we tried a selection of four whiskies, with each serving being 50ml. It was a great tasting amount, and the set also included a choice of appetizers. We chose mentaiko and taco soft shell crab. For the main course, we ordered curry-pan, octopus, toothfish, and wagyu. I don't usually have high expectations for the food at dining bars, but every dish we had was splendid！Thank you for the great food and service. This place is perfect for gatherings with friends, and I will definitely recommend it to others.

Spectacular experience all around. The service was impeccable, the food was really delicious, and of course the whiskies were out of this world. My husband and I really enjoy Japanese whiskies and have even been to the Yamazaki distillery near Kyoto before, but being able to try a more diverse range and expand our knowledge guided by an expert is really valuable. We came away from our evening really keen to seek out and buy more lesser known Japanese whiskies. Aside from the most important aspect of our experience (whisky!), we had such an enjoyable time it's like we were floating on a euphoric cloud all night. The owner is very kind and easy to talk with to determine your tastes, etc. And the food was stellar! It was hard to pick what to get but we decided on the soft shell crab tacos, mentaiko, tuna, aburi scallops, anchovy dip, and the hojicha creme brûlée. All of our dishes were exceptional, would absolutely recommend all of them. We can't wait to come back and try more whiskies and food options.

Toothfish and scallops are pretty good. 5 star recommendation for the Toothfish dish. Fruits infused drinks are all girls friendly. Umetsu Nokyo plum sake is nice, citrus one is not bad, I’m keen for the yuzi one next time. They have amazing shochu as well. The owner is super friendly and is willing to explain the difference between drinks. Quiet ish and relatively small but it’s a perfect place for a Saturday night. Location is opposite mirage apartment.

Absolutely phenomenal!!! Best discovery in the last 12 months... Food is devine, service outstanding and the range of Japanese whiskeys is mind-blowing... Hidden gem!

Each meal was interesting yet simple, the owner recommended whiskeys that complimented the meal and had extensive knowledge about the whiskeys on the menu. I will be recommending Nodaya to everyone I know.

This is surprising good!!!

We ordered almost everything and all of them are amazing. The size of each dish is small, so it’s better to have something before, or just order a lot. I couldn’t recommend more for all their dishes, but toothfish is a must. Note that the Tiramisu is a little different than what you’d get at a Italian place. It’s very soft, with no or little cake base, personally I really like it.

I’d definitely come back to Sydney very soon for Nodaya. This is the most delicious meal I’ve ever have since I came to Sydney a few years ago.

Amazing place. The owner is a great chap with talented people in the kitchen. I've been very curious to try Japanese whisky. The taster menu was a great introduction. The food was so good with everything explained as it came to me and my wife. We were both very happy throughout the whole visit with drinks, food and great service. Highly recommended to anyone who wants a unique relaxing evening. With such a great selection of great drinks it leaves the door open to head back for another visit.
