This place is a fantastic place to visit and a bit different from most wineries I've been to. As you go in for a tasting you are sitting surrounded by huge old wine barrels from the QVB building in Sydney. It creates a great ambience we were greeted and seated quickly. I've been here twice and both times a South African gent has hosted the tasting and has made the experience a good one. The wine is great and the port even better. We were with another couple and all 4 of us enjoyed this place above all others. Highly recommend!!

Dropped in for some wine tasting - wines are but buy the actual cellar is phenomenal- massive old barrels , dark and musty barn - looks just like you picture it should be . We had fun drinking only reds . Started getting a bit smashed so had to leave - they were good about it , I’m sure they are used to “Sydney Wine Lightweights “ - I will get that on a t-shirt.

This was a fantastic experience in our first visit to Mudgee! Between the beautiful surrounds of the lush grounds, the tasteful use of stones and wood barrels in the decor, to the beautiful charismatic woman who facilitated our tasting, and of course the affections of Tom, the cat, I simply could NOT walk away without a few bottles to reminisce about this wonderful experiece back home. I can't wait to visit again.

Something special about sitting amongst the huge wine barrels, in a dimly lit hall and the history of decades of wine making. Great first wine tasting experience for one of my adult kids. Wide selection of wines served and discussed by friendly and helpful staff member.
External views are great, but sitting there and chatting and enjoying the tastings in such a warm and yes, classic environment was a great experience.
… wines were very enjoyable and no problem deciding to take a selection home

A complete hidden gem of an experience for anyone looking for a unique and historical tasting experience.
I can see this place blowing up and becoming a highly sought-after spot in the near future.
Sipping white port in the cool dwelling amongst centuries old roof-high german wine barrels, with Tom the cat on the bar. You would be forgiven for thinking you've left Mudgee and slipped into the basement of a old town German winery in the mountains of Alsace.
One of the best.

A charming, rustic and historic setting with some stunning wines. We went in for a tasting session and met Elle (also a talented local artist) who was very friendly and gave us some great insider tips for other places to visit in Mudgee. We couldn’t leave without a bottle of their famous white port! Could easily let an afternoon melt away in there!

Loved this winery… a very different experience to all the others in Mudgee but in a good way. The tasting room is so nice with the barrels and all the wines were delicious! $5 pp for tasting and they don’t take bookings… definitely not to be missed.

We had the best time at Peter Van Gent winery. Lacy was the sweet young girl who hosted our wine tasting and made us feel so welcome. We sat right next to the winery cat, Tom who was so cuddly and loved pats from customers. Highly recommend this winery for an authentic feel!!

The most amazing experience from the moment we pulled up. The wines were fantastic and the staff so kind caring and generous. Ask for Silke when you visit, she's such a beautiful soul. Knowledgeable of the wines and really makes the experience. Outstanding!

Spent time here last Sunday and bought some very good red and a gorgeous fortified white. Our guide (won’t say sommelier) was very passionate and it was obvious he had thorough knowledge of the product. Loved the excellent design of this winery. I felt I could have been anywhere in Europe and sat there all day. Going back.

One of the most picturesque buildings on the inside and make sure you learn the history about the giant barrels!! Also some great seats that have a story behind them too. Great little bar and the service is impressive. One of the famous wineries in the area and after you visit, you’ll see why.

Good, honest, understated winery. If you're after a picnic / cheese platter I'd say potentially go elsewhere but if you're after a great bottle of wine from Mudgee then this is your go-to.

My partner and I found the best wine on our mudgee weekend away was at PVG. Friendly staff and a 'no bull' attitude.

Highly recommend.

The cellar door is filled with old wine and port barrels and has a nice "authentic" ambience. The service was great and the gentleman that served us was very personable and knowledgeable. My personal favorites were the Rose, Wiskey Tawny, Liqueur Muscat, though all the wines we tasted that day were very good. Definitely a winery to visit when in Mudgee.

Great people running this place, and very nice wines. The cellar door is lovely, you feel you’re sitting amongst the wine making. Their fortified wines were a stand out. Left with a good half-dozen wines.

Clive was a wonderful host and was able to share his passion for wonderfully tasting wine! We had wonderful service and interest catering for usfus Clive.
The price of $5 for a tasting experience with an average of 1 glass of wine all up plus mixed nuts was a bargain!!!
Don't miss this great spot

Originally came here to rent some bikes for the day and cycle around the wineries. The bikes are very good quality and easy to ride. They provide helmets. Gave good direction, it’s actually easy as lots of wineries are close by. Ended our tour with tasting at the cellar door, wines are lovely. Port is one of their specialties. Don’t forget to pet Tom the cat who is a big boy and very friendly

Incredibly friendly service and allowed us to bring our dog into the venue with us. Tried 6 wines for $5. The atmosphere was great and the air smelled nice because they were making the wine at the time.

I came for the white port, I did not leave disappointed. Set in an old, low-lit cask hall lined with enormous barrels, it's probably the most characterful of Mudgee's cellar doors. Service was warm and personal, and kid friendly.

We stayed here at the on-site bushman's cottage. As our checkin was after business hours, the staff were kind enough to leave the lights, heating and a bottle of wine for us on arrival. The stay was comfortable and the ammenities were amazing. Absolutely loved it. Some of the wines here are quite unique and amazing too. Definitely worth a trip to drop in to if you wish to try a unique drop.
