Made a reservation for 6:30pm, and arrived a few minutes earlier. It was undeniable packed with customers that night. The staff were rushing all over the place, and had ignored us for a bit though it was understandable. We were finally seated when a staff came to help us out, and for the rest of the night, the staff attending to us were sweet, though I can feel the stress in their heads since it was so busy.

My partner and I had the buffet, and we had ordered so much food that it was overwhelming. Everything tasted incredible, and not a bit of meat was left to waste. The cooking grill was a bit difficult at first. We had really thinly sliced meat served to us initially so a lot of it was stuck to the grill. All the other meats weren’t a problem though. Everything tasted so good, and we soon realised that they were using a very similar kind of sauce for all the meats we were getting. Not that it was a problem, because the sauce definitely made it taste better. There was such a large array of foods to choose from that it would be a lot better if you saw it for yourself, but I can definitely say there’s something for everyone, and its well worth it. The quality of the food is also exceptional.

Would definitely come back again, and Id highly recommend to come here on an empty stomach so you can fully indulge yourself with this.

If you don't like it packed I recommend going around 8-9PM.
(They finish up around 10PM)

A "taste" that is consistent any time you go there ever since 2000.

Old school Japanese Yakiniku that locals can jump right into, the owner is charming and the staffs are better than most restaurant now days.

Nothing else to say except that you will have a difficult time being dissapointed.

Sometimes these /5 ratings are about as trustworthy as a politicians hands under a banquet table. Here at the 4.1*koh ya, I can kinda see why some fellow eaters are not seeing the 5* scene. This is not Tokyo department store Japanese dining (paradoxically excellent), but we are in the spot, randwick, which is let me put it kindly, not an epicurean epicentre. There's enough in the area that's good enough, and this place is at the better end...reliable, mostly Korean takes on Japanese food...which is pretty normal. The cook yourself options are fine, though they'd benefit from some pungent Korean sauces. The real stars are the more mundane menu items...seaweed soup, sashimi, and stone pot bibimba...all served as quick as said politicians hands, and at prices that work.

Best Japanese bbq delivery during lockdown in Sydney east, highly recommend their premium wagyu, ox tounge, beef finger roll, porck neck, ray wings and all salads!

I personally love this place--even though I already had pretty low expectations for this cuisine found in this area. The prices are reasonable (except for grilling veggies, as is typical for a yakiniku joint. I would recommend eating in for better portion sizes than ordering takeaway. The restaurant feels understaffed on busy nights so definitely tip and be patient! The servers do come around as often as they can. Best deal on a yummy yukke I've ever seen!

The food is fantastic - very tasty. What it lacks in atmosphere is more than compensates by the outstanding flavour and range of foods available. Being able to cook yourself makes for a fun and enjoyable social interaction

I have been visiting Koh-Ya since opening and it has never disappointed. From birthdays, graduations to casual meal with friends, this place has been an integral dining venue for us. As a Japanese family of 4, we feel like we have teleported back to Japan each time we visit this restaurant.

Their ox tongue are to die for, and their wide selection of dishes makes it a big hit, whether you are in a small or large group.

The owner, Satomi-san is tirelessly working so hard and provides excellent service! Couldn’t recommend this place more :)

The restaurant was quite busy. So, it is very popular & liked by lots of people.
We chose alacarte.
The service was very good; always with a smile.
The food was hygenic, delicious & beautifully presented.
I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Japanese food.

Went here with some friends. Everyone loved the food, it’s really high quality and fresh. Sometimes they get really busy so they can’t give you everything you ordered from the buffet but just remind them and they will get it for you. Good price good service and good ambience. best Japbbq in sydney

Literally my favourite restaurant in Sydney. Staff are so lovely and the food is always fast and fresh. Absolutely would recommend the $50 menu. Salmon sashimi and wagyu beef are a must have. Lots of vegetarian options too! Been there 4 times this year already!

My treat to my girls. I have enjoyed this place a lot. The service is great and friendly, I've liked the bbq and my daughter was having fun with it. The food is great and you do not need heaps, you cooked by yourself in the little bbq in the centre of your table which make it something unusual and special. I will come back. The taste is delicious and plus they gave us crab meat for free. Love it!!!

The food is fantastic, the owner is such a lovely lady that have always looked after us Every time we go.

We used to go there when it was at Neutral Bay and we followed them to Coogee, and that says something. I like the new premises, better tables and atmosphere.

The quality of meats and side dishes are exceptional, it's very fresh and well marinated.

It's worth paying extra for the all inclusive All You Can Eat option, the Wagyu beef is to die for.
