Great lookout to see the gorge.
It's not a hard walk to get up there but there are a few stairs so make sure you're prepared for it.
Recommend going early in the morning before it gets too hot.
Also definitely try to do the sunrise boat cruise to see the whole gorge that you can't see from the lookout. Just wear good shoes as there's a walk between the two boats.

We walked up the steps to see the sunset, then stayed to see the 50,000+ bats fly, loved it! Can see the bats better if you go to the lookout before the top one...beautiful sunset with bats flying through. 20-25 walk (one way) from Nitmiluk tourist centre

Do the loop walk leave at 5:15 and make the sunset at 6:30 wait 20minutes and experience thousands of fruit bats flying up the gourge. Be sure to take a tourch for the walk home in the dark.

An excellent short walk to see the beginning of the gorge system.
The walk isn't suitable for wheelchairs as it's mostly a metal staircase to reach the lookout

This short walk to the lookout is gorgeous. (You can do longer walks). Yes there are alot of stairs but it is worth it. There is two platforms and both are stunning.

Must do walk at sunset. Stay and watch the bats migrant at sundown up the Niltmiluk (Katherine Gorge). Simply breathtaking.

Great spot to see the Gorge from a height. Loved the view ... not too long to walk there from the boats as well

Very beautiful view from up here! there is a nice viewing platform here for your safety.
It took me about half an hour to get here from the tourist information center. It‘s a pretty steap way, lot‘s of stairs and rocks.
The way back on this loop is much easier, it mostly follows a 4WD track.

WARNING..... please take heed if you are unfit or have mobility issues, take the long way rather than the stairs going up. It is an unrelenting climb, particularly in the heat of the day. You want to enjoy the views without wondering where the nearest defibrillator is. Take plenty of water. The long way is a well-formed path gradually climbing with seats available for breaks. Whilst it takes a lot longer it is far easier on the body and you will enjoy the experience. There is a bubbler at the water tanks with beautiful chilled water, enjoy.
