Shut the Gate Wines

I first visited 10 years ago and it’s only got better. The wine speaks for itself, amazing variety and you will leave with at least a bottle.

The staff are knowledgeable and take the time to make you feel welcome. A big shout out to Andy for being a great host.

I hope it’s not another 10 years between visits.

A great cellar door and selection of wines. Cellar door manager was really friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about the wines and Clare valley wine region. Will definitely come back next time in the area.

A beautiful winery to visit. The first time I visited this place with family was 2016, so when we visited months ago it's a massive change (for the better) they made a small shop on the previous small room for wine tasting. This place a plenty beautiful areas to sit with a group indoor or outdoor it's a gorgeous place. And their wines... are something we will drive hrs just to get it. Love this place ❤

Loretta was amazing and the wines too. Great friendly setting and for our foxy too 🙏🐾. Loved all the wine’s with the white wines the feature. Loved the story of the owners and the origin of the name too. Thanks for a great experience

What a lovely cellar door experience! A relaxed and comfortable vibe while tasting the wines, which were generously poured and all very enjoyable! We were even given some cheese and crackers to cleanse the pallet between wines. Will definitely be back when we visit Clare again.

The host, Richard, was fantastic from beginning to end. Was knowledgeable, engaging and interesting. The ambiance of the location was fantastic. The wines are beautiful, we bought 27 bottles 🤣

We were recommended this winery by a local, it is now the favourite winery we have visited in the Clare Valley.
The ambience and atmosphere was quirky , charming and idiosyncratic.
Beautifully decorated inside and out. We were treated to a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
The wines were really unique and delicious, and we too were treated to complementary cheese and crackers.
We are travelling with our Beagle Cross Max, who was as was made to feel as welcome as we were. Thankyou for that.🥰
Treat yourself to a truly unique Clare Valley experience. We purchased a bottle of 2022 Gewurtztraminer, something new to me and albeit a great discovery.
Thankyou for your wonderful hospitality, we highly recommend this winery, and yes we will be back.

Fantastic experience wine tasting here. $10 pp/tasting but wiped if purchase wine. We are a young couple and it’s rare that we buy wine following a tasting and if we do, we buy a single bottle. We bought three bottles following our tasting because of how much we enjoyed the wine.
Great wine in a lavishly but tastefully decorated environment. Owners came in during our tasting and chatted to us like old friends. Highly recommend.

My friend and I went there a few days ago and let me tell you that we had a wonderful cosy time! We met amazing Andy with whom we had a great time doing a tasting. We really enjoyed going to this winery!! Totally recommend

Welcoming and knowledgeable staff to walk you through the tasting, finished it off with a glass of Grenache Rose under the huge oak tree next to the vines with a small cheese platter from the little shop attached to the cellar door.

We had a great tasting experience at shut the gate. Our server was very knowledgable and very friendly. The wines were very good and well worth the visit.

Such a lovely visit to shut the gate. Our host was so lovely and the wines were amazing! Highly recommend this winery. It was so easy to purchase wine and organize delivery. We cycled here off the Riesling wine trail. Only a short cycle off the track.

Kaeden was very helpful and super knowledgeable, bubbly too. He helped my sister and I pick out some amazing wines and just made the experience so enjoyable! Thank you ☺. Would highly recommend having a wine tasting here!

Had a fantastic afternoon outside with a lovely cheese and dip platter.
Jess was great, very informative and lots of tastings with no charge, all wines were lovely.

Just enjoyed a lovely wine tasting and now having lunch in Shut The Gate's wine garden. Friendly service, several wines that are now on our To Buy list. Thoroughly recommended

Absolutely great Winery experience! The wine was lovely and the manager, Kaiden was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about wine and the winemaking process as a whole. The environment was very warm and cozy, filled with beautiful timber furniture. Would definitely recommend if you’re interested in fine wine and learning about wine from an experienced and passionate connoisseur.
