Definitely worth the 4 euro's to go up and back by train bus. Otherwise a steep walk up.
The castle is good to visit and has lots of period pieces

Absolutely beautiful castle, a must for any arts and crafts enthusiast. Audio guides in multiple languages with versions for kids also, which kept my 11 and 6 yo very engaged. Easy parking on site and the option to walk or pay for a miniature train to take you to the castle. We had a fabulous visit. Allow for 1.5 hours or so for the tour. The restaurant at the bottom is excellent and serves really good food. Very glad we visited.

Very nice castle. You can get an audio guide. If you want you can take a virtual tour. Also you can take a train up and down to the castle. Roundtrip costs 4€.

Beautiful medieval castle with gothic and renaissance elements. There's a little train that can take you up to the castle from the carpark for a small fee (3 euros return). Visiting is only possible with a guide and you can have an audio-guide to accompany the tour in multiple languages. They also have a VR experience about the history of the castle which was very cool. Inside there are lots of intricate details and beautiful old interiors. Very pleased with the visit!

This is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited, the view is amazing, architecture and decoration are outstanding. It has so many details that maybe one needs to come over twice in order to appreciate everything. They offer tours in different languages using devices and recorded tour explanations. They also had a train to go up to the entrance. Don’t forget to visit the store since they have so many cute souvenirs, I bought earrings for my grandma.

BEST CASTLE EVER!!!! Thank you for having us.

we saw many castles and alike but this place is OUTSTANDING! it feels like you are back in the 17th century and the people just left the place.

the owners must spend a hell of money to keep this place in shape. everything is done perfectly and with love - so many details to watch.

AND: you can enjoy it online/virtual from home if you cannot get enough.

good for my daughter & son: we saw the earl in person!

KEEP ON WORKING - you make people very happy!

This castle is definitely recommended you can get to and from it by the land train! The staff were so friendly. The castle itself was just beautiful the history is just amazing the artefacts are mind blowing I'm not really into looking round castles but I have to say I was blown away. The armoury room was something else!!! I would say to anyone who is staying in the area it's definitely worth a visit the views from some of the rooms are stunning all in all a very enjoyable visit and would return again

Lovely castle, beautifully kept, interesting and well toured with audio guides.

Take the train from the parking area/restaurant up to the castle
((a long uphill walk). It cost 2€ per person as of today (each way)

Walked Tratzberg trail from Stans - castle was a very pleasant destination. Thought tour was relatively expensive, but we thought it worth the experience. The rooms are well-explained through the audio guide. The inner courtyard is so beautiful - could be argued worth the tour admission price. Can also recommend the cafe/restaurant near the parking area.

Very different castle from the others that I've seen. The tour was given through an audio device which I prefer. A cool little car/train drove us to the castle, this would be fun for the kids. The armory was really interesting and displayed many weapons and armor. I highly recommend this castle!

Amazing castle tour with one of the best audio story companions I ‘em have ever experienced. The story of the castle and its history was really brought to life. I highly recommend stopping and experiencing it yourself!

Nice tour in the completely furnished rooms, with an interesting audio guide. The only minus is the limited duration of the tour, consisting in only 1 hour.

A surprisingly well preserved castle. So different than the other castles that we have seen before. As you see the interior you go back to the 16th century. All of the construction elements, ornaments and furnitures real masterpieces with many nice details. Congratulation and thank you for the owners and the staff.

One of the best Castle tours I have ever been to. Make sure to include the virtual reality tour when you visit. You won't regret it. The virtual reality part is at the start of the tour. If you don't include it you just sit around for 10-15 minutes until the virtual reality people are done. Afterwards you have a little handset that explains each of the rooms you are shown from the perspective of a historical figure related to the castle. You don't have to worry about understanding every word the tour guide is saying. The tour is available in many different languages. Just make sure you get the correct headset and then enjoy stepping back in time.

Very beautiful castle with lots to see. The guided tour lasted about an hour and it was very informative. Walk up to the castle was pretty easy and there was option for easier route or train.
