An authentic Japanese restaurant. In one word...excellent

This place is the best sushi bar in Graz! The stuff there is mainly Japanese, and very kind. The menu doesn't have lot of positions, but I find it as a plus, since you can be sure about the quality of products. This is very authentic and tasty place.
But be ready that you will need to reserve the place in advance, since it is always overbooked. The place is pretty small, it can take 15 people at max, if you are more then 2 person, you will need to sit on the bar. The price there is above average, but all this is worth trying it.

Delicious, high quality food in a cosy small sushi bar.

Yamamoto Graz offers typical dishes of the Japanese cuisine such as different types of maki rolls, nigiri and sashimi as well as warm dishes such as ramen. One can also have a bento box, a mix of warm and cold dishes, and many options are vegetarian as well. Almost all offered food is gluten free, upon request they serve gluten free soy sauce, however, it isn’t always available as it is rarely being asked for.

Service staff is alright. They are attentive and discrete, yet at some occasions I wasn’t sure if I made myself understood as the waiter answered quite brusquely. Nonetheless I have not had any issues with my order so far.
The meal is prepared freshly and it takes a reasonable time between ordering and serving. It is plated up appealingly and the portion size is quite generous.

Seating inside is very limited with two tables for 2 and some seats at the bar, where one can watch the chef prepare the dishes. Larger groups may be accommodated in the garden during the warm season as they have outside seating with tables that offer seating for up to 6 people comfortably.
As it can be very busy and is very well known, booking is highly recommended, especially when outside seating is not available.

By far the best Japanese food/sushi in Graz! Yamamoto is the only authentic Japanese restaurant with a real Japanese chef in this town.
Great atmosphere, staff almost only Japanese. Would recommend the bento for first timers, since it has some of everything. Also has a nice selection of Japanese rice wines (sake) and beer. Would recommend reservation for dinner.

We found this place randomly and were very happy with our choice. Food is fresh and very delicious. Loved the sushi and the salmon dish.

Authentic down to earth ramen with honest price.
Teppan yaki chicken and rice is delicious!
Not convenient for families though because of the lack of space — no place for buggy or for a family of 4 to sit apart from at the bar, which makes it quite difficult for toddlers to eat their meal.

Excellent (real Japanese) Sushi, friendly staff! If you would like to have dinner, you should book in advance, since the place is tiny and popular.

they have sake and japanese beer, the sushi is excellent and all the other stuff we tasted was great too ;-)
