The rooms at Zum Schwartzen Baeren are quiet, spacious and comfortable and include a large bathtub. Service is good.
The hotel is in a good location - across the river from Melk Monastery which means it is far enough away from the tourist traps - but central to its own village.
I had dinner at the restaurant and the young woman who served me was lovely - genuinely friendly and she knew her stuff.
(the young man who also served didn't which always surprises me as it takes so little to know your dishes and wines and which pair with which.)

Beautiful place, in a perfect location in the Wachau region. Rooms comfortable, nice spa, breakfast was good. No air condition in the room was a bit annoying. Staff super friendly.

We have been there multiple times and I can say that everything they have on the menu is very delicious and nicely prepared with good sized portions. The service is very friendly and professional. It’s a bit higher on the price range, however, the experience is worth it.
On a nice summer day you can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere. They have rooms too but we have not stayed there yet.

My wife and me have had a wonderful time. Very friendly staff; clean rooms; quite area; tasty breakfast; big parking area. Recommend! And we will come again for sure.

Really lovely place. Food is optimum, staff very friendly and helpful. Pool and jacuzzi very clean with a relaxed ambience. Bedrooms large with balcony. Highly recommended.

Waren das erste Mal hier und muss sagen es ist ein älteres aber sehr schönes Hotel wir haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Die Preise im Restaurant sind für ein 4Sterne Hotel nicht sehr hoch,habe schon teurer und mit nicht so hoher Qualität gegessen. Alle im Hotel bemühen sich dass man einen schönen Urlaub genießt kommen sicher wieder.

Die Zimmer sind angenehm geräumig. Das Hotel ist familiär geführt, Freundlichkeit wird hier groß geschrieben. Wir haben im hoteleigenen Restaurant sehr gut gegessen. Der Wellnessbereich ist klein aber angenehm. Die Sauna wurde extra für uns früher eingeheizt. Verabschiedet wurden wir sehr herzlich von der Chefin persönlich mit selbstgebackenem Lebkuchen.

Langer Rede kurzer Sinn: Ohne hier gewesen zu sein macht das Leben keinen Sinn.
Es war mein zweiter Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel, leider lagen viele, viele Jahre durch andere Reisen dazwischen. Ein Hotel mit Charme und hervorragender Gastronomie. Besonders muss ich zwei Damen erwähnen, welche flink, liebenswert freundlich und fachlich top waren. Eine der Damen hieß Angelika, die andere Dame habe ich dummerweise nicht mehr nach dem Namen gefragt (bin ehrlich zerknirscht übers dieses fauxpas und schäme mich). Doch auch alle anderen Kräfte fielen durch ihre herzhaft nette Art ausgesprochen positiv auf. Die Küche wirklich hervorragend, man konnte sich bereits beim Frühstück auf das Abendessen freuen.
Einziger Wermutstropfen war die fehlende 20-Liter Schüssel für die Abschiedstränen. In dieses Hotel komme ich gerne mal wieder!!!
