Great venue for dining. I was there with friends during the festive season, and we were all impressed by the ambiance and the meals. The goulash deserves special mention for its perfect preparation and tasty sauce. The schnitzel and spätzle didn’t disappoint either. Recommended

Best experience in Salzburg. We had the Veal Schnitzel, Fried Fish, Piesto Spaghetti and Truffle Pasta and everything was delicious.

We also liked the complimentary bread and butter.

This was by far the high point on our trip to Salzburg. This place is all about fine dining. From the moment we got there, there was a great ambience, people where outside having warm wine, and live music was playing. As we got taken to our table, we where greeted by Andy, who could have not been more amazing. He made exquisite and well thought out recommendations, brought the somelier who brought incredible wines that matched perfectly our meal. I have no idea why this place is not in the michellin guide. Thank you for everything, we enjoyed every second of it.

A great restaurant in Salzburg! Must try! The food is fantastic, we had the tuna tartar, veal steak and truffle pasta. Service is also good, friendly, helpful and attentive. The ambiance is rustic, relaxing and very clean. The restaurant also has a long prestigious history. Remember to order Peter spritz.

Spent 10 days in Austria and this was the best meal we had. Our server Niklas was attentive, quick to clarify uniquely American confusions (“this is octopus not pulled pork, just in case you didn’t know” - we did not know), not rushed, etc. the whole space had vibes - a fun combination of modern funk edge with old classic history. The food took some classic Viennese dishes with a modern twist - the chicken had a sriracha confit and bacon espuma which added a layered flavor experience that I think I’ll dream about lol. The boiled beef had some great slaw type of addition with two other sauces that were a delight. The caramel butter? Amazing. We got another order of it. Apple strudel served hot with choice of ice cream or vanilla sauce and that was excellent as well. Was well worth the price.

They've been around since the 800s so it makes sense that they'd have good food! The restaurant opens for lunch, closes, and then opens for dinner. I highly recommend you make reservations for your visit because it is very popular. For lunch you can walk in for a table without trouble. Dinner, you can't. The seating is pretty much all outdoors but covered by a concrete or uncovered in a courtyard. It's all open air. If you don't want to pay the high menu prices stick to deserts because they're very good, especially the apple strudel. Skip the soups. Staff is nice and does speak English.

The food here is really good. They only had three vegan options on the menu, but both that me and my partner tried were excellent. The lentil croquettes were wonderful but we especially recommend the pasta with the asparagus pesto.

One of the oldest restaurants in the world! Delicious food, attentive service, lively atmosphere and beautiful holiday decorations. I would happily fly back to Salzburg to eat here again!

Dining here was such an amazing experience! Atmosphere is so authentic and classy. We had veal schnitzel, gnocchi, special dish of the day (raspberry, grilled cheese and rocket), piccata corn-fed chicken and everybody’s darling cocktail. All dishes definitely had a creative touch. Dinner here is a must!

In addition to being a beautiful and very pleasant space, we can enjoy excellent service, very friendly and the food is very tasty and very well prepared. The homemade bread and caramelized butter is something that alone makes it worth it. It is without a doubt a place to return to.

Absolutely 100% delicious! Not only is eating in the oldest restaurant on the planet worth it...but can you risk not doing it when you're in the area?

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much from this "marketed" sort of historic restaurant, but it was really impressive from a food/wine/staff point of view. Gigantic wine by the bottle list. Staff was amazing with wine and food suggestions. Ended up doing a local wine with just 4k bottles/year, beef bouillon soup, the schnitzel, creme brulee, and of course the wine. Interior is borderline like a Miami beach club. Not entirely sure what I think of that feeling, but would be back here immediately if I came through town again. Get a reservation if you want to get in during tourist season (my hotel did that for me). Best meal I had in this area.

The oldest restaurant in all of Europe established in 803. It was wonderful just to be there, let alone have a delicious meal. The server was kind and friendly, the food delicious, at the atmosphere cool and causal.

Located by the historic St Peters Church, this is one of the oldest restaurants in town. Atmospheric, stylish place with great food and service. Everything we tried was delicious, served fast and with a custom presentation. We had goulash and chicken, cucumber soup, burata, wine and a few cocktails. Not cheap but reasonably priced.

Great place to brunch, food was fantastic.
Service was good but not great, we were seated quickly but then took a while to take our order, same again when it came to ask for the bill, had to ask two times for the bill. With a 3 year old ready to explore the city more, I found this a little frustrating.
Although, once we ordered food it came quickly, was super tasty and our drinks were then continously topped up. Definitely a place I'd recommend to visit in Salzburg.

Absolutely phenomenal food, service, ambiance all five stars! We went four up four down for the Austrian specialties section of the menu. The Boiled beef might be the best thing I've eaten in Europe and comes with a table full of accoutrements. The schnitzel and potatoes were also good. Finishing off the meal with the fluffy and fruity Nockerl was lovely, truly a treat of a dish. While it was raining when we visited, I would love to go back for a cocktail in their chic outdoor lounge area. What a strong showing from the oldest restaurant in Austria! It deserves a place on your travel itinerary.

Certainly one of the best restaurants in Austria. Creative art, decor, menu and food creations. Food is delivered at the right time, hot and perfectly cooked. All of us at our table were very happy with our meals. very creative cocktail list. The wait staff were efficient, pleasant and very accommodating. I will come back here any time I can.

It's a blessing that my daughter booked this restaurant for us a few days before our arrival to Salzburg that we have the opportunity to dine in the cave of
St. Peter Stiftskulinarium, the oldest restaurant in Europe for over 1200 years.
The restaurant was filled with colourful plants and decorations. Yet, everything blends perfectly with a relaxed and romantic atmosphere.
I ordered Pete's Aperol cocktail, and the main ingredient is vodka with Mandarin purree. It's very refreshing.
Then, we had homemade soup with prime beef. It's actually the wild garlic potatoes dumplings in the beef broth. It tasted good, but It's a bit salty for my personal preference.
Our main courses were basil pesto asparagus pasta, a vegan dish, and a gratinated saddle of the local lamb. Both dishes were perfectly cooked.
Lastly, we had ordered the famous apple strudel tops with cream and vanilla ice cream and white nougat parfait for desserts.
These two desserts were the highlight of our dining experience here. ✨
The waiter/waitress served us were very friendly with good service.
Although it's not compulsory, it's a lifestyle of giving tips in Europe. We are happy to tip them who provided good services.
