Hainburg Ruins

Probably the best kept free castle site we've ever been to! So well kept, it's just a pity none of the buildings are open. It's such a nice castle, amazing views and great architecture, just a real shame you can't go inside any buildings. I would have happily paid to visit this site in full.

What an amazing castle. Beautiful views , lots of green , grass and trees. Absolutely worth visiting! Visited on Tuesday and there was nobody else at the time . There also many benches on the way up as well as tables for eating in the castle itself. Great for picnic

Interesting castle ruins in the town of Heinburg. There are 2 ways to climb the mountain - on an asphalt road, but very steep, and on pathway, but longer and quite comfortable for climbing. Free entrance. A beautiful view of the city and the Danube opens from the mountain. There is a small free parking lot under the mountain

Beautiful scenery and well kept castle ruins. A bit of a walk to get to the top. Traveling along the concrete path is much easier than the trails going through the forest.

Impressive castle ruins with a great view over the city Hainburg and the Danube on one side and Slovakia on the other side. Free to visit, open all year round, many benches available to take a rest and enjoy the view.

Beatiful castle (or remains of castle), very nice and clean. It offers picturesque view at Hainburg and you can see Bratislava too. Entrance is free (April 2022). There is also pub and several benches for resting.
Walk to castle leads from parking space below and it takes about 10-15 minutes. Very easy walk, suitable also for children and elderly.

A perfect place at 1 hour drive from Vienna for a quick getaway. The castle is spacious, well-maintained and clean. The easy hike from parking is about 15mins. The parking lot is free and has space for 6-9 cars.

The views are amazing too. Has not lost the historical touch despite renovation and maintenance. Highly recommend to visit.

Wonderful lookout, easy to get there from Hainburg. You park next to Penny and walk through the forest, even with small child won't take more than 20 minutes. After that, you will be awarded by an exceptional view. Nrxt to that, only ruin of the castle you can see there.

I enjoyed the hike, the views and seeing this medieval castle. It is a beautiful site offers great views of Austria, Slovakia and the Danube. The hike up is scenic on a path shaded by trees. The castle walls and grass provided a peaceful experience.

awsum Location für Autumn Pictures, nice casual walk up the Hill from besides the parking lot. be sure to take water along. worth the climb to get surreal views of the surroundings and the Donau.
take the pathway up and then walk down the steep road. be careful not to run down as it's very steep road. enjoy

I like this place - very easy to reach, light hike of 15-20 minutes from the parking lot below and provides a great view of the surrounding. Ideal on a sunny day.

We enjoyed first warm day there. We liked to return here in all seasons, it's good place to bring your kids, too. It's point where you can meet lot of turists and also locals during the weekend, but other days is empty. We discovered that few benches have dissappered, walking up the hill - that's a pitty. The ruin is well maintained with lit of space to make a picnic, to rest, to walk around, to play with ball, etc...

Lovely place for a bike trip near Bratislava. Great views from the castle walls with lovely green lawn to chill and relax within the ruins. Highly recommend

great castle, even wikipedia don‘t know when it was build. 10 minutes walk up with great view, o shops, no pay for entry and almost no people. awesome place to catch some free air, be there

The castle itself is located on top of a mountain. At the foot of the mountain there is free parking for cars. Two roads lead to the castle: one is paved and rises steeply. The second road is unpaved, around the slope, longer but calmer. Entrance to the castle is free.
