Nice place to visit and take photos

One of the oldest and best preserved monasteries in Armenia. Has a very special khachkar dating back to 16th century (where Jesus is depicted on it with Mongol features/outfit -- ask the local monks about its history). The monastery was built in 9th century around the time of Ashot the Iron's grandfather, Ashot Ist reign (by his daughter), these were bad times for Armenia: but number of rebellions against Arab rule eventually liberated the country in the beginning of 10th century (with some help from Byzantine Empire). Sevanavank is an architectural gem and witness of those times. Don't forget to enjoy the views of the lake: they are breathtaking.
