I booked ahead using booking.com. I was happy because it was high season and everything else in the area was fully booked. When I arrived, they had given away my room and were completely full. I was very angry because the whole point of booking ahead is that they reserve your room. The daughter of the owner spoke some English and she called in a favor from her neighbor to put me up for the night in his house. He was a nice guy, but he was clearly not equipped for guests. He kept coming into the room without knocking, and the whole house got up very loudly at 6am. Plus there was a chicken crowing all night right outside my window. And it wasn't cheap either, I paid 300k for this room. I can get much better accommodations for much cheaper all over Vietnam. Because she managed to find me a place to stay when everywhere was full is the only reason this is a 2 star review instead of a 1 star review. If you can't manage the online part of your business, then don't have it at all.
