[Hong Ngoc Fine Art]
[Hong Ngoc Art Center]
[Production Workshop for Disabled People]

[Plus]
Variety of souvenirs from A-to-Z
Skillful stone arts
Recruit disabled people to earn a living
Public toilet available and is rather clean

[Downsides]
Expensive
Expensive

Most people underrated it because of the high selling price. Set aside of this, large portion of Vietnamese rely income from tourism. Their living standard are high despite of low currency rate. The markup are rather high is to support overhead costs and disabled persons.

To be honest bad rating will affect their earning since reputation is a matter to tourism industry. Be kind to others and you would return with good karma. Stay bless.

I wouldn't specially travel for this place but yes the halt was worth it

Very big store, but there is nothing portable enough for a tourist.

It was a halt while going to halong way. Everything is too expensive to buy here. Even 20k lays wafer is being sold at 80k. And souvenir is sold 10-20 times costlier than local hanoi market. May be people from strong currency nation can afford this extravagant place. I fine this place good for washroom or happy room what they say. Just unload and move ahead for amazing gateway to sea called halong way.

An opportunity to Vietnam to showcase works of art undertaken by disabled artisans of which a number are working on the premises & others working off-site. Some of the injuries or conditions suffered by the artisans are significant & to see them overcome this is very good.

Prices are not cheap by Asian standards but are against western prices. Similar items are available elsewhere in Vietnam as significantly reduced prices although the artist is unknown.

There is a cafe selling convenient food & drinks, and a small mart selling local packaged/processed produce (these are also marked up significantly). There are also toilets..

There are a number of these types of retail outlets in Vietnam & I understand tour operators are strongly encouraged to take all tourists to at least - we also visited one on Saigon area on a day trip.

Sad to see how many negative reviews this got considering it's from people who are privileged enough to afford a lovely tour, not trying to shame anyone, but it's pointless to rate this bad when no one is forcing you to buy anything and it has free toilet and quality products to say the least.

Other than they're gorgeous, they're handmade and 65% of the proceeds go to the artists themselves who are disabled children of who got effected during the war. who btw you can see at the front of the place doing the artwork. not saying you should buy anything but if you did this is where your money is going. and who is skeptical about 'the accuracy' of the info might as well be skeptical about everything else in their lives as they have no reason to question it and go against it.

Have fun

Hong Ngoc Fine Art is one of the best places we have ever visited. As a tour guide, I prefer to bring tourists come and take a look after a long day trip. At there, you can find not only Fine art products but also you can get something for dinner very quickly. Good place for a good choice. Woulf recommend

This is the perfect place for those looking for stone statues of all kinds of stone. I was able to visit this place because I visited Halong Bay and this is one of the stopovers going to Halong City. I bought some souvenirs here like ref magnets and shirt for my friends and family.

I saw some artists (for those people are artists) sculpting a big piece of marble. Amazing! I had never seen that before.

We stopped here for a break en route to Halong Bay. I really enjoyed the introduction to the centre and finding out that 65% of the proceeds of each hand embroidered artwork goes to the artist who created it. It was great to see the artists embroidering at the front demonstrating their skill and displaying the fact that the art is not mass produced by an overseas factory somewhere (you can even take a photo with the artist of your purchased piece).

Disappointed to read the negative reviews on Google - anyone who is able to travel overseas to Vietnam and visit Halong Bay is in a far more fortunate position than those who are employed at Hong Ngoc Fine Art. You can choose to support victims of war and purchase a quality piece of art as a keepsake for your travels or enjoy the free bathrooms at this pitstop. Alternatively, you can go on Google Reviews to speculate exploitation (evidence?), claim exorbitant prices (sorry, how much are original artworks typically?) and purchase your cheap and tacky mass produced souvenir trinkets from the streetside vendors in Hanoi instead.

All artists are handicapped. Beautiful way to be independent.
Very nice unique stuff sold, especially the hand embroidered show pieces.
But a tad too expensive.
