Ba Be Farmstay

Wonderful, peaceful place located at the edge of the village. More of a nice eco-lodge than a simple homestay, with lovely gardens, attractive buildings, and excellent food. A big plus is the owner's good English and kindness in helping with all aspects of guests' activities in the Ba Be National Park area. Highly recommended at very reasonable price for these fine-quality facilities. (Photo of popular local waterfall reached by boat and hiking.)

Nice lovely little place to stay over night. I booked in late at night, called the owner ahead, and because it was just me, he gave me a little discount, which was much appreciated. The owner, Hung, seems honest and caring for his guests, so that’s a plus. The room has AC and Wifi, all you really need. Comfy bed.

A downside however, is the bathroom. The shower head cannot be mounted to anything, so most of the time you have to hold it (also no tub, but not a deal breaker). Additionally, if you’re a fan of hot showers, you will have to cherish what little hot water the shower has. It runs out pretty quick, so don’t take too long, or you’ll be shivering at the end of the shower. Furthermore, the towel that they gave me doesn’t seem to smell that good, and it is just very slightly moist. It makes me think maybe they washed it but forgot to hang them to dry immediately which explains the smell.

All the negativity aside, if you’re looking for a decently priced homestay, you’ll find yourself pretty satisfied with the view and the vibe.

The hosts are very friendly and will make sure you have a wonderful stay! The owner knows all the best routes for adventure riders, if you’re keen to go off the beaten path away from the tour groups. You won’t regret it.

We stayed 4 days at Ba bé farmstay. The cottage is magnificent. There is space for children to run around. The owner was very friendly. He gave us good advice on the different activities to do. Dinner takes place in the gardens under the stars.

I stayed here for two months, this place is as cozy as a homestay can be. It's on the quieter part of Ba Bể, a 15-min walk to the lake and a 10-min walk to the national park's hiking trail.

The landscape is very serene is picturesque and it has everything you need if you want to spend time in nature.

Go for a jog to along the lake and rice fields in the morning to warm up. Then go for a bbq picnic lunch on an island by the lake. In the afternoon go for a hike in the forest with its lush foliage (GIANT plant leaves) or walk through the more remote villages and cool down with a yoga session in the garden with a nice view of the mountains.

You'll meet a lot of furry friends here too as well as Hung and his lovely family.

We just spent an incredible 24 hours with Mr. Hung. The trek was fun and showed us the beauty of the area. Our night at his home stay was relaxing and the food was delicious. The next morning we trekked to the lake and saw the waterfall and the cave . We loved our time here and can’t wait to return and explore more of this amazing area.

Great homestay!

Un luogo di pace e serenità, a pochi passi dal lago di Ba Be. Siamo arrivati qua grazie a Google, avendo cercato una sistemazione nei pressi del lago.

Il proprietario, Hung, persona gentilissima e super disponibile, ha saputo aiutarci e fornirci tutte le informazioni riguardo attività e possibilità intorno al lago, oltre che essere un eccellente ospite.

La struttura molto bella, situata nell estremità sud ovest del lago, collegata tramite la strada principale ma lontana dal “centro città” è un oasi di tranquillità.

Camere arredate molto bene, pulizia buona e servizi come asciugamani e complementari inclusi (spazzolino usa e getta, sapone mani..)

Possibilità di fare colazione (inclusa nel prezzo) che non abbiamo avuto maniera di provare, abbiamo invece avuto la possibilità di provare la cena, squisita.

Cucina che chiaramente assomiglia a quelle che si possono provare nei dintorni e che abbiamo provato nei giorni passati, ma che aveva una nota in più.
La cena consisteva in:
- riso (base)
- zucca fritta
- polpettine di pollo speziato
- diversi tipi di verdure (buonissima quella con coriandolo e lemon grass)
- manzo speziato
- frittata delle galline della fattoria
- bufalo con insalata di bambù

La struttura fornisce anche la possibilità di fare kayak, per un extra, cosa che abbiamo fatto è che ha dato una prospettiva interessante alla visita del lago , rispetto ad un giro in barca guidato.

Il padrone di casa si è anche operato per darci indicazioni su un percorso dove fare trekking che abbiamo poi fatto con molto piacere.

Sicuramente lo consiglio, un atmosfera veramente autentica e familiare
!
