This Homestay was by far the highlight of my trip to Vietnam! The family was so welcoming and kind. I stayed for two nights and loved every moment of it. The views were amazing not to mention the food. I highly recommend for anyone visiting northern Vietnam.
For anyone driving yourself just know it is easy to find based on the google maps directions. The road is fully paved just exposed.

This is the most beautiful place I have ever been to. The views from the balcony over the rice paddies and mountains is breathtaking. The surrounding village is stunning and the locals are all so friendly and so happy to see you.

At the homestay itself, the family are so welcoming and offer exactly the sort of authentic experience I was hoping for when I arrived. They cook delicious food everyday and offer tours to help you learn about and immerse yourself in the local culture.

I cannot recommend this place enough! It was the perfect place to spend Christmas!

I really liked this place. It’s a unique experience to stay with a Hmong family, they were so welcoming!
If you like nature and mountains you should go here. The view is stunning and the food was amazing.
I also did a full day trekking in the mountains and in the ricefields. The guide took me to beautiful places!

Most memorable time of my Vietnam trip. The whole family goes above and beyond to help you with everything you need.

3 nights was a great amount of time to relax, take part in the trekking - a must do ! (or other activities they offer), and learn about the Hmong people and area.

Although it’s further away from the main road/town, there is lots to do up on the hill- with many viewpoints, waterfalls and paths to wander around.

Simple and clean bedrooms and facilities, as shown in photos/description. Delicious food - shared in great company !

This place is a real gem! And the hosts, Chù and Chỏ are such wonderful people! We stayed 2 days/ 1 night at this place and it was probably the highlight of our time in the North of Vietnam.
The views are mesmerising, the food, the time we spent with the family, everything was incredible. And they made the best coffee too! I cannot recommend this place enough.
We booked a half a day hike with Chù which I really recommend. They also arranged for pickup and drop off and bus back to Hanoi for us.
If you want to experience an authentic H’mong experience, book and stay with Chù and his family and you will have a blast!

This is true hospitality at its best. The family that runs this homestay are the most welcoming, friendly family I've ever met. They helped me with arranging a pick up from the sleeper bus from Hanoi (at 2am!) and guided me for a full day trekking up a local mountain and then through the rice terraces. Yes, the facilities are basic, but if you want a true experience of local Northern Vietnamese life, come to this homestay.

I am so glad I stayed at Indigenous Homestay to visit Mu Cang Chai, this place is a paradise. Yien is a great person, always smiling and laughing. I had so much fun with him and his brothers during the motorbike tour, he took us to so many view points and the landscape were amazing. His family are the most welcoming people and you will feel very comfortable with them. Do not expect anything luxury, you come here to live a true experience in the Hmong culture and lifestyle. The mattress is hard but I slept very well and I really enjoyed the morning mountain view from my room. I had hot water to shower and the best food, we shared lunch and dinner together with the other guests and there were never leftovers. I was really surprised to find so many people in the homestay, I met lovely people there and was sad to leave, I wish I had stayed longer… Thank you for everything, I hope to come back one day! 🤞🏻

A very special time with this Hmong family. It is an arduous journey to get to the area from Hanoi as a tourist but if you can weather that, you can have an amazing experience with beautiful scenery and learning about the local way of life. The food has that home-cooked love, I miss it already. Especially recommend the half day trek activity, the cooking class (Pato) was also a lot of fun. Embrace the experience!

We had a lovely time here! It really was a unique and great experience to live on a farm up high in the mountains. Great people! Great food! Fantastic environment! Really recommend.

Felt so relaxed and well taken care of by the family. They are kind and keen to show you around the best walks or organise cooking classes. The view is amazing and the food delicious. The simplicity of the rooms and convivial environment made me feel at home.

Yien and his wife are such a cute couple- and his family great hosts. They immediately helped me feel at home and was accommodating to all my requests. Things are obviously very simple here but nonetheless, cosy and fulfilling. (Everyone loved the meals here!!!)

I did the full day motorbike tour and it was totally worth it- it is probably the easiest way to see the area, at the same time exhilarating navigating through the terrains. Riding into the sunsets with the coolness of the wind against your skin is an indescribable feeling. Yien was obviously knowledgable on the whole area and such a fun guy to be around on top of being the best photographer! THANK YOU!!!

Tips:
1. If taking the sleeper bus, always factor in at least 2 hours extra as it can stop for no apparent reason, especially if it is not the 9am/10am bus.
2. Bring something to keep you warm; especially during the colder months here. (A hot water bottle might do the trick!)
3. Bring your own coffee if you’re a coffee snob- they only have 3-in-1s here as coffee beans aren’t grown in this region.

A strong highlight of the trip! After a few days in Sapa, this felt like getting right to the heart of Vietnam, with stunning views, well defined rice terraces, delicious local food. Yien has been a formidable host, telling stories about the history of his country, his family, and himself and how they got to start a homestay of their own (and why it's the best ;-))
It's easy to go trekking on your own but Yien and his brothers will also happily take you on tours to nail the right places, and it's as simple as going down the right rice terraces from their place to get to the main view points around.
We were so happy to go on the bike tour with them (recommended for adventurers, the "roads" are bumpy and you better hold on for dear life to your seat, but we all made it alive (adding to the charm I would argue)) and made the most of our 1 day on site.
On a last note, I had somehow crashed a drone on a hill next to their place, and Yien and his brother went above and beyond to help me recover it and even deliver it to our next stop on our way back to Hanoi. Can't thank them enough - real encounters, real touched by their kindness, ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED. 🙏 Till next time!

Very nice and authentic homestay with all amenities. In beautiful surroundings and a view to the mountains and rice fields. The family is very nice, friendly and hospitable. They also offer various courses. We tried making a typical rice cake, and we painted with wax on fabric. We also tried how to work with a buffalo in the field and we went on a wonderful trip around the area with our guide. Our guide Ding speaks good English, he gave us a good insight in the life of local people and their traditions.

One of the highlights of my trip in North Vietnam! The Homestay is an authentic, heartwarming experience: family is very welcoming, food is delicious and straight from a beautiful garden, the view over the rice fields is superb and you're in the right area to explore rice paddies and even a waterfall by yourself! Thank you for everything, including arranging my bus to Hanoi and the healthy snacks you gave me for the ride. Amazing! ❤

Such an amazing experience! I cannot say enough words about how delightful the family and stay was. Room was great, view is unbelievable. We spent one day learning how to farm the rice. Each night we ate family style. Even though we didn’t all know the same language, we still found common ground. Truly a life changing experience. If you have the opportunity to come and stay with them, you won’t regret it!

A thousand thank yous to this H’Mong family for inviting us into their home, sharing their foods straight off their land, and teaching us their ways. From learning to farm on their rice fields, to watching them catch us a chicken for dinner- I will always remember this experience and feeling so welcomed into a culture that vastly differs from my own.

If you are excited to live an authentic experience in Vietnam with amazing hosts, this is the place to stay!
