Good experience, really nicely maintained, cultural and worth the 15k fee. Surrounding area is lovely with the mountains and pond. Also the pagoda cat is so cute!

Chua Thay is quite close to Hanoi, so to travel here, you can choose to go by motorbike, car, or bus.

By bus: Take bus 73 (from My Dinh bus station to Chua Thay) with a ticket price of 10,000 VND/one-way. On average, there is a bus every 10-20 minutes.

By motorbike or car: Drive along Thang Long Avenue. After reaching Sai Son overpass, turn right, continue for about 1km, and you will arrive at the temple.

The current admission fee to visit Chua Thay is 10,000 VND. In addition, the parking fee for motorbikes is 10,000 VND/bike, and for cars, it is 30,000 VND/car.

The temple is very beautiful and ancient. If you only visit below, it takes about 20 minutes. However, if you climb the mountain, it is recommended to wear sports shoes, as there are many beautiful spots to explore with stunning scenery. For those who are interested, you can also visit the fascinating Cac Co Cave.

A beautiful and Historic Pagoda in a beautiful location. The only downside is the Guides are so pushy and very persistent to take their service. And at the end try and sell souvenirs and also expect a minimum payment of 200.000 VND.

Beautiful ancient pagoda attached to the mountain. 20km from Hanoi's center and it serves incredibly fresh atmosphere and views. Super quiet and not touristic at all.

Really interesting temple. Well preserved. Spend time to explore every nook and cranny. You will see interesting detail. Entrance fee is 10k. At the end of the temple. Explore the cave on top of the hill.

Went here on a sunday afternoon and it was very peaceful. I was the only tourist walking around at that time. I am not sure if the structures have been renovated before but they have retained that old/ancient feel to it. If you cross the left bridge you will see a sign leading to the stairs towards more temples/pagodas on Sai Son mountain.

I booked a grab bike from Hanoi for around 130K VND and took the bus going back. It is still within Hanoi but far from the city center.

An old temple in the rock moutain where you can see the view around in top. There is a small lake here with an ancient bombax.

Master Pagoda was officially called Thiên Phúc Tự: Blessed Heaven. The Master that the pagoda, the one & only of its kind, was called after is the legendary zen master Tu Dao Hanh. The pagoda was built on a dragon shaped land, during Ly Nhan Tong regime (1072- 1127). Our ancestors have also deliberately used unique architecture following the shape of a dragon to build it. Master Pagoda leans on Sai Son Mount, winding like a dragon tail; Long Dau Mountain on the left, considered a protective front. The pagoda is located in the jaw area, the front courtyard is the upper jaw; The left bank of the lake is the lower jaw, which is opening to see the dragon jade (the Water House). Two large strips of land beneath are the two dragon legs embracing the pagoda. The Nhat Tieu Kieu (Sun Little Bridge) and Nguyet Tieu Kieu (Moon Little Bridge) bridges are fangs, with two wells representing dragon eyes. Two bombax trees growing up to the sky are the dragon beards. Three layers of Upper, Middle and Upper Pagoda symbolize dragon head. The corridor on either side of the pagoda has a bell tower and the drumstick is dragon ears. It is the beauty, the sacredness of Master pagoda that Trịnh Căn, a King of Trinh Dynasty (1633-1709) had to say: "Now Thien Phuc (Blessed Heaven) Pagoda on the mountain emerges like a pearl among the field of green pebbles all four seasons".

Chùa Thầy (Thầy Temple or Master's Temple) is a Buddhist temple in Quốc Oai District (formerly Hà Tây Province, now part of Hanoi), Vietnam. The temple is also known as "Thiên Phúc Tự" (Chinese: 天福寺, "Temple of Heavenly Blessings"). The temple was established in the 11th century during the reign of Emperor Nhân Tông of the Lý dynasty. It is dedicated to Vietnamese Thiền master Từ Đạo Hạnh (Chinese: 徐道行, 1072-1116).[1][2] It is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Vietnam,[3][4] It is well maintained by the monks.[5]

The temple is a centre of pilgrimage during Tết.[

Lovely old village built around the lake and the Pagoda. One of the most interesting and easily accessible from Hanoi. Has not been damaged by restoration. Still beautifully authentic. A great combination with the climb of the mountain, the pagodas and cave on top. To be visited before it gets commercial.

A perfect sanctuary inside the busy capital. Around 40minutes grab bike from the capital's center. This place is a mixture of physical and spiritual essences to those who wanted to experience a quiet place of worship and an exciting nature trail to test one's physique.

I'll rate this 6/5 stars if possible.
