Cơm gà hướng dương

I’ve had cơm gà many times and in many different cities and towns throughout Vietnam, this place IS the best i’ve ever had.
It starts with the soup, often underwhelming, but here it’s rich and tasty, fresh, crisp morning glory diced and added just before it comes out.
I’ve been many times and generally order the gá xối mơ, the roast chicken on rice.
The plate is laid out beautifully, sliced cucumber and tomato along one side, a neat pile of yellow rice with chicken on the other and a leaf of lettuce with ginger infused kimchi on top, yes she makes ginger infused kimchi, it’s incredible.
Portion sizes are generous, rice - fluffy every time never over done or chewy, perfect, but it’s just rice right!? Wrong, it’s a small cloud of happiness.
The chicken... oh it’s amazing.
Succulent and juicy, she deep fries a big drum and thigh section so the skin gets all crispy, lightly battered, but it’s not oily at all, no grease to be seen on the plate, just pure flavorsome chicken. The cơm gá is almost as good, the lady tosses the chicken through a sweet chili and lime mixture, Vietnamese basil and garlic also in the mix. It’s quite unique and extremely tasty(not actually 100% sure if it’s standard, or she just treats us when we order it) They also do an amazing thịt nướng and a few other díshes, no doubt they’re amazing too.
Anyway, this place is awesome, the restaurant is very clean and very small and they’re incredibly friendly, occasionally treating you with fruit after your meal. Cơm gá 25k, Gá xởi mơ 35k, chéap - check it out when in Quy nhon.
