Canaima National Park is spread over 3 million ha in south-eastern Venezuela along the border between Guyana and Brazil. Roughly 65% of the park is covered by table mountain (tepui) formations. The tepuis constitute a unique biogeological entity and are of great geological interest. The sheer cliffs and waterfalls, including the world's highest (1,000 m), form a spectacular landscape.

With geology very similar to that found in Africa, Canaima is covered with flat-topped mountains known as tepui, as well as forests and a lagoon. The lagoon is a popular tourist attraction—tourists can navigate the crystal waters in a canoe. The tallest waterfall in the world, Angel Falls, falls from the summit of one of the tepui mountains called Auyantepui. The waterfall is 979 metres (3,212 feet) high and can be seen from walking routes through the tropical forest.

Mount Roraima, Brazil, Venezuela and Guyana, at the intersection of the Venezuela canaima national park. At 2810 meters, it is the highest of the pakaraima mountains.

The most beautiful place on Earth! If there were more than 5 stars to give I would give 10! Unesco World's heritage site.
One of the world's largest national parks, home of Earth's highest waterfall (almost 1 km!) and home of endemic unique flora et fauna . You need to visit at least once in a lifetime.
Unfortunately, Venezuelan government is now promoting mining in the area, which attempt against the magnificence of this place.

One of the world's most important national parks and still amongst the largest, protecting unique geological formations and ecosystems together with a highly endemic Pantepui flora and fauna. Regrettably, badly mismanaged and abused since 1999, and now seriously affected by government promoted mining. The presence of irregular armed groups and Venezuelan military is extremely concerning. It is to be hoped that current situation can be reverted and proper park management resumed before much more of the park's irreplaceable value is irretrievably lost.

Went to Canima and Angel Falls in 1974. About the most beautiful place I can imagine. The water was red and sweet. A place lost in time..

I'm not here to post about this amazing park, I'm just here to prove that 3/4 of the movie, Up, took place here.
If I compared the falls in Canaima to Paradise Falls, they look the same.
So there's the proof needed there.

Amazing journey to Salto Angel. Takes a flight, boat trip, and some hiking to reach the falls. So worth it!
