Love this store. I always go out of my way to go to this location because I really appreciate the friendliness of the workers. But now most recently I had the best experience.

I was there Thursday evening (2/15/24) at around 6 pm when I went to the deli to grab a pound of chicken. I already made my way to the other side of the store when the guy (kinda tall) from the deli ran up to me saying he accidentally gave me turkey and handed me the chicken. I didn't grab his name because he turned quickly so I didn't get to see his name tag. Talk about above and beyond. The deli team is always especially awesome anyway but this brought me to have to leave a long over-due review. I went there Valentine's day too and the way the girl wrapped my flowers was better than any florist could have done.

I love the smaller size of this one too so I don't have to walk miles to get to what I'm looking for. It's always worth the drive here. Sorry so long of a review but like I said it was a long over-due review to say how much I appreciate this location.

I've been a customer of this Stop & Shop for over a decade and I've always enjoyed shopping at this location. It was nice when they had Dunkin Donuts inside of it other than that it has a harmonious atmosphere and very friendly staff.

I am so grateful to the women of the BAKERY Dept for making this birthday cake happen for me! I needed to be able to pick it up today and they made that happen for me! Another Stop and Shop over on Mass Ave wouldn’t do it and I was stressing out! They not only got it done but also ahead of the time they said they would. I don’t know their names but to the woman there on the night of Friday 11/26 and this afternoon of Saturday 11/27 THANK YOU so very much!

The Staff is wonderful & typical of most Grocery stores it is tooooo Cold...

Stop & shop has always been THE grocery store in my family. Since we moved a couple years ago, we now only use this location. It's always clean, stocked up, has an amazing floral dept, cashiers are extremely knowledgeable & helpful. Associates throughout the store are never "too busy" to help out a customer (or to help their fellow co-workers because they do all work really hard; seeing that teamwork mentality restores some of my faith in humanity) it seems like there's not a high turn-over rate at this store either; which speaks volumes about the management team too! Keep up the good work!

Cindy in the bake shop is amazing! She always does an amazing job on my kids cakes!

Always have a full stock favorite grocery store

I have not gone there for a while now. I was very pleased to see varieties of meat on the shelves; lots of stocks being put out compared to the last time I went.
The prices are still above the ranges they used to be. I did not go for a big shopping; just things to make a spinach salad, and I got a bargain on Original Herkimer Variety Pak Cheese, which consisted of Extra Sharp, Port Wine and Garlic and Herbs. It was $5.60 ,discounted for 33% off. So I paid $3.75.
At least I got the few things I needed for my salad.
Store was busy as usual with customers and workers busy doing their assignments and helping as per usual.

This location is always clean and well stocked. People are inconsiderate and leave the shopping carts all over the place, but the staff stays on top of it. Very friendly.

Always have what I am looking for and you can usually check out pretty fast.Its a bir pricy but it is what it is. Prices are going up everywhere.

I'd like to preface my complaint with the fact that I've been coming to the Freeport Street Dorchester, MA Stop & Shop for over 20 years, and I was a loyal supporter of the strikers. And I probably spend about $300-400 per month here on groceries. (Actually, it's technically been longer than 20 years, because I remember when it was Purity Supreme.)

Now, I always take my recycling here and it never amounts to more than a few dollars, but I do it to help the environment and support my local grocer. On 8/6/19 at around 2:30 pm, I had completed my recycling and went into the store to turn in the receipts before starting my usual shopping. A manager was hovering over me, took the recycling tickets from the counter rep, and started waving them in front of my face in a threatening manner, saying that someone was complaining about a suspicious person in the recycling bin area.

She then accused me of somehow rigging the bins with a can and string. I'm a working man, and I don't need to scam anyone for $3, especially when I spend hundreds here on groceries per month. I understand she has a job to do, but she could've easily handled this any number of ways rather than accuse a long-time customer...the most obvious solution would have been for her or one of her employees to review the security cam before relying on "someone's" testimony.

If they had taken such initiative, they would've seen a guy on a bike enter the bin area no less than twice: both before and after my arrival, as if he was waiting to conduct his business alone. He waited outside the area while I was recycling, even though there was plenty of room for the two of us, and he entered only after I had left. I had more bottles in my car, so I grabbed those and went back to the bins, which prompted this guy to quickly scurry away. I explained this to the manager, but it fell on deaf ears. I never accused this other guy; rather, I simply reported what I saw. But if we're going to compare suspicious behavior, I'd say he's the winner.

Mind you, she made these accusations in front of employees and other customers. It was embarrassing to say the least. I was mortified, and I'm still shaken from it. I told her I had no need to employ such devices and that I earned the recycling receipts in an honest manner. I also explained that I was a regular customer--emphasis on that "was."

Eventually, she begrudgingly handed the tickets back to the cashier, but not before questioning and accusing me one last time. No apology, and she had the nerve to laugh with her subordinates as I walked away to do my shopping. Needless to say, you've lost my business forever.

Update (8/7/19): I received a very heartfelt and sincere apology from the district manager via phone almost immediately after the aforementioned occurrence. It was a serious integrity move.

In my 20+ years of shopping at this location, I've had only 1 issue (see above), which was immediately remedied with an acknowledgment of and apology for the slight. That's quite impressive. Hence, my 5-star review.

I love this Stop & Shop! Always very clean and well stocked. All employees are friendly and they also work well with young children. Handicapped accessible. Nice prices. Great choices of meats. If you need something that you don't see, ring the bell for the butcher. There's also a Dunk N Donuts right inside. Awesome bakery goods. Cakes made in the store. Call ahead atleast 24 hours in advance if you want a speacial cake made for birthdays. Their Butter Cream Frosting is delicious and not heavy at all.

Lots of employees going through isles. Many helping customers find what we needed. Check out line went smoothly. A pleasent visit, I was worried because it seemed crowded and it was crowded compared to regular shopping times. Very happy, a good trip.

A quick Im and out visit, but it was a nice place. Employees were nice and quick. The floors were clean. Overall it was a pleasent visit, if only for drinks since it was super hot. I would recommend it to anyone that needs groceries.

Been told often that it's too expensive, yet if you time your shopping right you do very well. Got skinless boneless chicken for a month worth for less than 20$. They now have a sizeable choices of organic products if you are into it. Still a pain to remember to bring your bags but everywhere is now the same. Lastly, the expansion of the selfpay section make it easy to check out. All and all, it is a pleasant experience well, as much as groceries shopping can be.
