Oh the owner. It is what you would expect from a real bookstore owner. His selection is awesome. It is an experience That's worth experiencing.

I didn't know what I wanted or needed when I was walking up the street back to my casita (first time in Silver City) and saw the open door. Walked out with a new buzz and thirst for more stories. Thanks, and see you again, old Duck!

This book shop is more than just any old book shop, and it was a highlight of our visit to Silver City. The place is bursting with shelves and piles of used and new books on all kinds of topics. Michael, the owner, is wicked sharp, witty, and incredibly well read. He will ask you a few questions and then tell you exactly what you need to read. And you will love it. If you are lucky enough to visit when he has time to read to you, you will end up buying the book. We visited twice during our trip and left town with a dozen books on a whole range of interesting topics and people. Our summer reading list is complete!

My wife and I visited Silver City over the weekend. We’d heard that the downtown was one of the nicest in the Southwest, so we took a walk through town, and came across this shop. I consider myself a bookstore nerd, and this might be the single best used bookstore I’ve ever been in. The owner, Michael, has a knowledge and love of books unlike any owner I’ve met. He knew what to recommend based on a brief conversation, and he engaged in a delightful discussion with us as we looked around. The selection here is spectacular, and it’s an incredibly comfortable place as well. I love Silver City, and will come back just to visit this store again.

We're here in town for vacation and only planned on visiting the shop for a few minutes. Over an hour later, the six of us had each chosen a book. I very much enjoyed my conversation with the owner on subjects ranging from futbol, to the best parts of Scotland to visit, to Calvin and Hobbes. There are many first editions interspersed throughout the stacks. Michael patiently listened to our six year old's many stories, and was extremely helpful to my wife - he even walked her to the car with our pile of books. We both love used bookstores and this now ranks as one of our favorites.

This place rules. Places to sit, great selection of books, good prices. Plus they have mystery books for a dollar wrapped so you don't know what they are.

One of those places we tend only to read about or imagine. Truly special, afforded more by the caretaker than the customer.

I rarely write reviews, but will make an enjoyable exception with respect to this fine little shop in Silver City. I was there this past week on business - wondered what might be open late in the evening, and right before my eyes was this bookstore. The owner could be considered a bit of a Scotch rascal - I enjoyed talking with him a great deal. Bought 3 books with totally unrelated subject matter. He knew exactly where to find them. I feel like a scored a grand bargain! Regardless of your tastes, I strongly recommend visiting his store - repeatedly. I know I will.

We were wandering around old downtown Silver City when we saw that the Book Shop was open late. Inside we met the co-owner who asked what I was reading and soon we were batting books, authors and genres back and forth like tennis pros at Wimbledon. Then my wife got in the act for a lively half hour conversation that ranged from obscure German mystery writers to real estate to local history and the correct way to pronounce O'Docherty. They had complete sets of three of my favorite authors!. Beware, you might walk out with an armload of books!

Michael the owner is a lovely entertaining chap from Scotland. Very helpful and knowledgeable and will do his utmost to make sure you’re satisfied. Phenomenal collection of books for all tastes. Don’t miss!!

If you like books and interesting conversation, you should definitely pop in. It's a very refreshing escape from the fast paced, electronic world we live in.

Every time I need a book, or even if I am just thinking about a book, I call and they either have it, or they get it in for when I'm ready. The kids corner is snuggly and full of classics. What a great place for people who love books!
