Love this place! There are tons of nostalgic games and newer options as well. Prices are almost always good.

Always my first stop when looking for anything game related (information, hardware, even to sell some of my personal collection)!!
They compete by staying below online costs and saving you the wait & shipping fees!
And being just off the 17th St exit along i99, it is always an easy & pleasant visit

The best used and retro video game store I have ever visited. I usually stop by retro gaming stores on any trip to a new city looking for rarities and deals on games to fill out my collection. I always find something to pick up every time I stop through on my way home to Altoona. Their prices are more than fair on everything from new releases, uncommon/higher value games, and rarities. Always a great stock on hand and every type of gamer will find something for their collection here. Great staff and extremely fair, if not the best, trade in prices I've seen at any tech store. Worth a visit if you're a gamer!

Definitely need to make a return trip to look around more but for a specific oldschool video game gift this is the place.

As far as a video game store goes, Cartiges Galore is basically a jackpot. Very helpful and friendly staff paired with a wide selection of games for almost every (if not EVERY) console, including much older generations.

Their pricing is very reasonable and they will also give you fair offers if you want to sell something to them.

I never went in there but my bf bought us a xbox controller for $50 used and I guess a new one is $70

this place has honestly become one of my favorite stores recently. they have consistently great games and surprise me with the selection almost every time i go in — i always find stuff i’ve been looking for or didn’t even know i wanted! games, consoles, plushies, skylanders, trading cards — they’ve got it all. i’ve also never bought a game that was broken or unusable, and i got an xbox 360 here recently that plays wonderfully. the points + rewards system is cool, the prices are SO good, and the staff are super nice people who are always helpful. CG is definitely the best game store you’ll find in the area.

These guys are awesome at customer service and are very sweet. I believe their good work ethic and attitude is what makes this store successful and great to shop at. I was just in there for their Black Friday sale and they were awesome and helped me get exactly what I was looking for. Every employee there on Black Friday 2021 was equally great and super helpful. Easy to talk to and super friendly. It's also cool that they got a reward system too now.

Consistently good store in the years I've been going. Only ever had one broken game out of the 50+ I've bought there and they replaced it without a hassle. Better prices for secondhand games than other local stores. Staff has been able to answer every question I've had (the guy with long hair in particular knows his stuff)

Been coming in more and more often recently for skylanders, its hard to find anything that wasn't in the starter packs (that's expected though, since other skylanders are more rare) but have bought at least 20 in the last few months and have had very few issues with them

I can't speak for consoles or cartridges but when it comes to disk games Ive never considered buying them anywhere else

The staff was very patient, customer friendly, and helpful. This is the only store I could find that had game consoles for my pets. I scoured the world searching everywhere for a game boy color for my cat and this place had one. Now she can play Pokémon crystal till she’s blue in the face. Thank you cartridges galore and my cat thanks you too

I have traveled to the State College location, which is also fantastic.

Long story short, I always have a great time when I visit these locations, and I always leave feeling very satisfied.

Has everything that you need for gaming fix. If your a collector like me you'll find almost everything there. Very organized, set up is nice.
Good deals, you can trade with them at a reasonable price or specific item you want unlike GameStop. I go here instead of GameStop. GameStop is a last resort. If you do trade something and don't want cash they will give you a good amount of store credit and you keep building that credit for something you want that instead of cash. Check it out highly recommend for gamers that play every thing like myself.

Really great prices and very nice staff! They are a small store and don't have every single game, but they do have a nice selection. They have a lot of older games and systems too, so it's a nostalgia trip every time. I was looking for two games, and they beat GameStop's prices by $5 and $8, and even more on the one because of their monthly coupons! Their reward program is pretty great as well, since you get a $10 reward for every $100 spent. Glad to support a small, local business like this.

Amazing store. I live over an hour away and will gladly make the trip to Altoona just to do business with them. The staff has always been extremely friendly and helpful every time I've gone in. And they usually have a really nice selection of retro games, which is a huge bonus for a retro collector such as myself. I live near DuBois, and our local game store can't hold a candle to Cartridges Galore. That's why I'm more than willing to make the trip to Altoona to give them my buisness.
