Beach Pharmacy of Avon

The only pharmacy on Hatteras Island with two locations. They have everything you need medically for your beach visit. I would suggest if you are staying for the entire season to transfer your prescriptions ahead of time so you don't have to wait later. There are also craft supplies and art supplies available for the artist in the family. Located between Food Lion and Ace Hardware in strip mall.

New pharmacist Mr. Matthew Is so kind and very professional and personable and takes as much time as needed to speak to customers about any concerns or suggestions. The pharmacy is very down home and has an old timey feel to it. His staff are all very kind and have smiles on their faces. Definitely a major step up from past owner and recommending to everyone I know. They are all absolutely amazing there.

We are from TN and I had a partial prescription filled while on vacation because I left my medicine at home. I had it called into the wrong Beach Pharmacy (another 45 minutes away from our campground), but Matt was kind enough to have it transferred and fill it for me, although I had over heard the pharmacy tech tell another customer that they were already very, very busy. He even called when they didn’t have the 40 mg and asked if it was ok if he gave me two 20 mg pills instead and had a price for me over the phone. I looked at my husband and said the pharmacy at home would have never called to ask me if that was ok or bothered to try to transfer the script for me. The service here is amazing! I was done in less than 30 minutes and I appreciate the hospitality because that’s very hard to find nowadays. I am a nurse and have had to deal with a lot of pharmacies over the years and it’s hard to find a pharmacy that has compassion for patients.

Second vacation we have had to use this pharmacy. We had a mix up with teledoc presciption and the pharmacist was very helpful. The staff was very friendly as well. Would highly recommend!

The pharmacist is great! After an accident with a circular saw while working on my beach house, the pharmacist took time to take a look and confirm urgent care was not necessary. He also gave me a tetanus booster at a reasonable cost. Will absolutely go back if we need any prescriptions filled. The store was well stocked with first aid products as well.

I have been using them for several years and they have been super helpful. When we stay for multiple weeks I have to bring a prescription with me. They call my regular doctor to verify and fill it for me. This has been a real blessing!

Very friendly and knowledgeable. Old school charm. I wish I had a pharmacy like this at home. They filled an urgent prescription while we were vacationing.

Been coming here monthly for about a year.. I’m writing a review for the first time now because the New Owner— Matt— is really that Nice of a guy:
He not only answered my call at 1:45pm after closing early at 12pm and sending all staff home due to inclimate weather, but proceeded to immediately process a refill that I didn’t call ahead about (supposed to give 24 hour notice for refills) and then let me in to pick up/pay for said prescription.
As the owner let me out, an older man was trying the door not noticing the sign saying closed.. Without missing a beat he lets the man right in asking if he needed to pick up his prescription.
so I knew I had to write a review on the shift in “vibe” of this Pharmacy over the last month or so since the change in ownership.The staff has always been nice enough but now they seem more relaxed and happier, less stressed and it’s easier/smoother than ever to pick up my prescriptions.

Very friendly staff, and very helpful. My fiancé needed a prescription while on vacation, but that medicine ended up being out of stock anywhere within 100 miles. They called the emerge doctor line of our doctors back at home and got us a new prescription as soon as they could, and we’re incredibly nice about it, considering this was after closing time on a Friday. Thank you for getting him what he needed!

I felt the need to write a review because my experience was nothing like what people had posted about here. Beach Pharmacy staff were super helpful and friendly when my two daughters got sick on our vacation. They let me text a picture of my insurance information and had everything ready when I arrived except one medicine that was out of stock until the next day. The next day It was also ready to pick up conveniently as well. All staff were friendly and I would definitely return for any other medication needs while on vacation again. :).

Vacationing with my family and my son (9) was diagnosed with swimmers ear. The pharmacy fill my prescription immediately and was super nice!

The Pharmacists were very knowledgeable about my medicine. Pleasant quiet atmosphere. If you need craft supplies, a unique gift, a greeting card, penny candies, or just some vitamins. Pick up your prescription while you look around.

In Avon for vacation and left my meds at home. Evidently I’m not the first!
Recognized my plight so visited this pharmacy first thing Monday morning and asked them for their advice.
Great group! They advised me to contact my doctor to send a request and gave me a preprinted contact info sheet that I could use to provide the information to my doctor.
10 minute call to my doctor and my prescriptions were ready by mid afternoon.
@ pickup they asked if I had any questions - not for me, but asked them a question about swimmers ear stuff and would it be okay to use on a dog. Pharmacist came out and over great advice. Nice touch.
Back to my vacation without a hitch.

Quick and efficient service from this pharmacy. We have a part time home in Avon but have not needed the pharmacy before. My Dr. called in the prescription last night after they were closed. I showed up this morning when they opened at 9:00AM. A little bit of paper work and wait 30 mins (didn’t expect that it would be filled before my arrival). I left and returned 30 minutes later and all was well. Kind and friendly employees.

Staff is caring and works hard in making sure your needs are met.

I am surprised by the negative reviews. We come to the Outer Banks about 4 times a year and I always stop in at the Beach Pharmacy. They have a little bit of everything, like what used to be called a "Dime Store" or a "Variety" Store when I was young. Pharmacy items mixed in with a little bit of everything from baby clothes to touristy bobbles to office supplies It's a great little place and we like supporting a local shop.

I happen to be down here on vacation, with the help of Matt and Marsha they saved the day. They went above and beyond to get my Rx filled and I appreciate everything they did. Great staff and super convenient, thanks guys!

Old-fashioned, unassuming little pharmacy doing it's job perfectly in an area where the are no chain drugstores. They provide a much needed service in this area. Nice staff.
