McFly's On The Hook

Convenient store in Sandy hook. Great place to grab a sandwich, hot dog, a drink, or some ice cream. Historic building that used to be the PX at Fort Hancock. They sell some Hook related t-shirts and sweatshirts.

They are open weekends between April and October.

Stopped in here with my kids. The owner was so friendly and had a great sense of humor. Awesome customer service here. Smaller but well curated selection of goods.. everything was really good so I don’t think you could go wrong. Highly recommend the frozen lemonade. This is the kind of place you want to spend your money at. My kids loved their ice cream and treats and we will definitely return. Don’t skip this spot for ice cream and very reasonable food items when visiting! Oh they also have a nice selection of sweatshirts and merchandise.

Had the pleasure of enjoying a quick bite and friendly conversation with my coworkers, and the delightful Irishman who runs McFly’s. It was a hot day but the shop is airy and fresh and a perfect reprieve from the scorching sun. They had knickknacks and t-shirts, cool drinks, ice cream, hotdogs and sandwiches, and so much more. Loved the ambiance and the feeling of finding an unexpected gem. Find the time to visit, right behind the lighthouse (you’ll miss it if you blink!). Can’t wait to visit again!

I have been visiting Sandy Hook for over 40 years and even lived out there for a little over a year. This is the first time since the National Park Service took over the buildings at Fort Hancock that there has been a place to get a snack or souvenir anywhere except for one location at the beach that was usually extremely crowded. This is very convenient for those of us who like to tour the historic military base and take in the rich history of Sandy Hook, including the world's second-oldest continuously operating lighthouse - which has been lit every night since 1764. During my visit on June 12th (Monday), I asked the store clerk - assistant to the main proprietor - about the hours, as there seemed to be some confusion. He told me that they intend to be open through the summer from Thursday through Monday and would take Tuesday and Wednesday off, however, the weather was overcast and cool on Monday, so this week they were also going to open on Tuesday because of the better weather forecast. They have had some very tasty Jamacian Ginger Beer (soft drink) available and I have really enjoyed the strong bite of the ginger in this soft drink, though it has 220 calories per bottle, so it is a bit of a splurge for anyone on a strict diet. There is some seating in the main store area, so you can get indoors for a while and sit down to enjoy a snack or you can buy a souvenir in their store. They have a sign out front indicating that they take cash only, but have an ATM, should you need to get cash. I would definitely recommend McFly's and will be stopping in whenever I am able to get to Sandy Hook this summer.

They are open and have a celebration here, there's also some historical stuff like an old cash register.

After camping and walking all over Sandy Hook we were delighted to arrive at McFly’s and find so many delicious goodies. From milkshakes and cold brew to sandwiches and hot dogs, everyone was happy and fueled up for an afternoon at the beach. Special mention to the owner’s family who were extremely pleasant and unhurried and let us hang out until my four year old had cooled down.

Awesome spot! Just what Sandy Hook needed. The staff are so friendly and they have all the snacks a sweaty cyclist can dream of 😂 it is right across from the light house! Excited to come back soon 😊👍

BEST COLD BREW COFFEE!! They have sandwiches, hotdogs, ice cream, milk shakes, chips, peanuts, soda, candy, AND the nicest man running the whole show. EXACTY WHAT WE NEEDED DURING OUR TRIP

If you need a break from the beach, or a bite after touring the lighthouse or bunkers- head here. Owner is super nice.

This is the only place on the Hook that you can get limited food and cold beverages. Located right next to the light house. The staff is always friendly and very appreciative of your support.

This place has very cool merchandise and is run by a really nice fellow. I will be coming back!

They have bags of ice! A wonderful addition to the park.
